"70mai are not too bad, their normal camera design allows the battery to stay reasonably cool, and they use Li Ion cells instead of Lipos."

"No, not hard at all, the camera modules are secured to the glass with a double-sided tape (comes included). ... The included cables are plenty long enough to reach from front to back."

Have a look at an omni 70 mai 4g dash cam, I had one in my Campervan and was really impressed with it. You got notifications if anyone bumped your vehicle or even stood in front of it for more than a few seconds. You could then use the phone app to view the camera remotely, you can also move the camera remotely by nearly 360 degrees.

70Mai Omni lasted all summer in Austin for me and tbh is pretty easy to take off and put back on if you really wanted to, but I never did. I had another cheaper dash cam before that one and it broke after the summer heat. I just have it plugged into my USB and don’t really care about the wire but you can always get someone to install the hardwire kit.

I have a 70mai Omni in my Forester. Has 360 capability and parking mode. Needs to be hardwired for parking mode. If installing yourself, make sure power cord is behind the airbag in the A pillar. Otherwise you may have a cord and camera flying around if the airbag ever deploys.

r/MachEIs there any aftermarket cameras for the Mach E that have “sentry mode” type features that can record motion events when the vehicle is turned off?

I'm using this with the 4g module https://www.70mai.com/no/omni/. I do get a lot of messages in FordPass saying "Electrical System Drain Service Required", but I haven't had any issues. It can be configured to turn off when the voltage drops below a limit, but it shouldn't be necessary as the car will charge the 12v-battery before it gets too low.

I think it works quite well. In the app I can connect to the camera to show the live video stream and rotate the camera. And I can see a list of videos that have been recorded based on suspicious movements. I also get notifications from the app when it detects something. I do get a lot of false alarms, but I think it's useful.

A true '360' dashcam, like the 70mai Omni, is a little different than a 2/3+ channel setup with one interior camera looking towards the inside cabin and one looking front, another maybe rear, etc. Sounds like what you want and are referring to is the latter. My opinion on a 2/3 channel setup is that it's primarily useful for rideshare drivers or those who drive for work. For everyday people, they are not very beneficial, as far as reducing driving / accident risk. Dashcam companies sometimes try to market to people who want to record the interior cabin for the "memories", but idk. There is one other case where an interior cabin view camera is useful for non-work driving: If you get an interior camera with a fisheye view, it can capture stuff happening outside your side windows, adding extra coverage that a front and rear camera won't capture. as far as if there's one with a battery, the answer is basically: yes, but you don't want it. Why? Basically, any battery in a dashcam will not be large enough in capacity to use for parking mode. They are usually very small, like 500mAh or less, and have just enough capacity to power the dashcam for long enough after engine power is cut off - i.e. to save the current video without corrupting the file, and safely shut down the camera. Also, typical lithium-ion batteries in a dashcam are a safety and reliability risk, as when exposed to the extreme temperatures a car can reach, the battery can fail or even catch on fire. What you would want is a dashcam with a supercapacitor (more resistant to extreme temperatures, performs the same function as a small battery) and an *external* dedicated dashcam LiFePo4 battery.

Not really. If you want parking surveilance you have to wire from obd wires anyway (I know that camera manufactuers suggests wrapping fuses but it's fire hazard) which gives ability to connect to camera from anywhere.

Dont worry its not that hard to get fy 7omai with 4g hardwire kit from obd, it will give you ability to connect to camera anytime, as this usb port even if you have is not always hot (if I remember correctly). I did mine on 2021 atlas and it took 5-10min if even to route cable under pillar trims and that soft roof thing not much more of wire visible

I went for 70mai because 4g wire kit for parking surveilance - if you don't have garage, and/or leave car when shopping you get notification if anyone hits your car together with video, or if someone is areound your car for too long.

I have a 70MAI in both our cars, the one without a screen. It works flawlessly. I have only downloaded videos twice, and the quality is good. Not HD, but good. Had it for more than a year and can not complain.

Get any dashcam that comes with a hardwire kit, I have 70mai and Nexdigitron dashcams with hardwire kit in my cars and both are pretty good.
