My aukey capicitor one has lasted like 7 or 8 years so far in the south Florida sun.

r/Broward • Anyone have a dash-cam recommendation that could withstand the South FL heat in the car? ->

Based on my observations in r/idiotsincars, the Viofo A229/A129 are pretty decent. I have an old Aukey DR02 - pretty good but it's no longer made.

I've had an Aukey DR02 for 3 or 4 years and it's held up so far. It's very similar to the newer Viofo dashcam. I recently got a Ombar M571 3-channel dashcam and so far so good. No verdict yet on its long-term durability. Both units don't have batteries. They have a super capacitor instead to store enough power to retain the camera settings and internal clock.

I’ve got 6 years on an aukey DR02. I’ll replace it if it fails but with a capacitor instead of battery I’ll be good for a while to come.

r/Dashcam • What do you consider to be a good lifespan for a dashcam? I’m retiring this NextBase 222x after almost 4 years ->
