looking to buy a dashcam for my boyfriend as a gift. id like to stay around 200 but im willing to consider something more pricey. I currently have a blackvue with front and rear cameras and although I loved it at first, my rear camera went out last year and I dont love that it only saves videos in 60 second increments. I have been doing a lot of research on forums and saw a lot of people recommend viofo, blackvue and Garmin. but when I go on tiktok or Instagram a brand called red tiger is EVERYWHERE. is that brand reputable? is it a common thing to have videos save 60 seconds at a time? I have also read that having the front camera in 4k is important and the rear cam can be less?? idk im trying to make sense of things im not too familiar with. overall I just want something nice, not too bulky and reliable. any advice is appreciated thank you!
I get family who need help Blackvue cloud cams, and they them up to connect to the hotspot on their phones. When there's an issue I just need to walk them through enabling the hotspot on their phone, then I can access the camera remotely to help them.
I have a Blackvue front/rear. Solid units and they stand up to the nasty summer heat here.
Had my BlackVue 2-CH (front and back) installed at Autotrend Car Accessories (at Toa Payoh). Wire was neatly tucked and workmanship was solid! Also has parking mode function enabled as requested. Was about $450 all in.
Main cost was the BlackVue front and rear cameras themselves at $380+. Installation was $60 iirc. Could you send me the link to the 4k front and rear cameras for $100? I’ll check it out next year when I switch cars
Nextbase are the worst dashcams and their customer service is just as bad. Had to file a chargeback for a refund with them. 1080P in itself is fine on a decent dash cam. I have a blackvue front and rear dash cam and it's crystal clear at 1080 compared to my 4k nextbase one
The only thing I would be tempted to get is the Window tint, only if you have ambient lighting in the car. Only because, if something goes wrong then the dealer is liable for the installation and subsequent repair, and they can’t claim any further issues with warranty. For the price they’re quoting you, that should be ceramic tint too. Everything else is over priced. I had a 2channel BlackVue installed for under $1k (Including cost of cameras). The paint protection can be done later too.
