I used to run a Blackvue DR750S 2CH with a Cellink Battery Pack, since 2018. No issues and still works great. It is Full HD, and was decent at reading license plates. With the battery pack, it fully charges in a 15min drive and lets it record in parking mode for 20 hours. Have since upgraded to a Blackvue DR770 Pro Box 3CH with their B-130A Battery Pack. While also Full HD, the bitrate is higher, so there is better image clarity. I usually recommend for everyone to get the Viofo series of dachcams though. For the price you can get a great 2k-4k quality camera with a lot of high end features.
BlackVue is the only reliable brand that offers 3-channel with remote viewing capabilities. You can take a look at the BlackVue BOX 3CH model. Thinkware U3000 PRO is another option, but it was only recently released so I can't say much about it. It's important to note that if you choose the 3CH U3000 PRO, then you cannot install a LTE module and you must have your own internet in the car.
Depending on the dash cam some will eat power for breakfast. To know how long you can have parking mode for will depend on that, the condition of your battery and how many events get triggered. I tested the Thinkeate U3000, BlackVue DR770X Box, VIOFO A129 Plus Duo, and Akeeyo EYES AI dash cams to show how much power is used by each in parking mode. Watch for more info: https://youtu.be/52nfmtyEEQ8 I also am trying to use a solar panel to potentially have unlimited parking mode. when you say interior are you thinking of NOT having a rear cam? I assume you do not in which case you need a 3-cam system. Blackvue has the best low-profile that I know of but I had issues with their lousy/unresponsive support so had to go with one that has a screen. ended up with a 2-cam viofo and it’s a lot lower profile than I anticipated…fits pretty well behind my 2014 Accord mirror. you can turn the screen off completely and use the app - which is what I do since the screen is tucked up behind the mirror (the screen can be turned off/on by voice command which is nice). but yes…you need 3-cam which will run you a bit more!
I had a NextBase hardwire but it was crap and worked intermittently. I now use a blackVue Front and rear which my brother hard wired in with relative ease. It does drain the 12v battery if you only do short journeys and leave it on standby I recently purchased a 12v charger as I do relatively short journeys and don't keep the battery charged up enough
Nextbase are the worst dashcams and their customer service is just as bad. Had to file a chargeback for a refund with them. 1080P in itself is fine on a decent dash cam. I have a blackvue front and rear dash cam and it's crystal clear at 1080 compared to my 4k nextbase one
I use a Black Vue dash cam w a small Black Vue auxiliary battery that powers the camera when the vehicle is parked.
Pretty much just keeps on working.
Th auxiliary battery is charged from the cig power port - when the vehicle is running
You'd get better advice from the nerds in the dashcam subreddits. But I have a blackvur and it's great. Typically Viofo is the one to get though.
