I’ve been down this road, if you want something reliable and not too expensive, I’d suggest checking out a DDPAI dashcam. I’m using one and it’s been solid: good video quality, app works well, and the parking-mode/back-up protection gives peace of mind.
If you go cheap and off-brand, just make sure you know what you’re getting, I’ve heard too many stories of dashcams overheating or recording terrible video. A known brand (and a dual-channel unit) is usually worth it over a bargain bin cam.
