I have a Garmin Dash Cam 57 Plug & Play Kit that I got from Trail Grid Pro for the front and have no complaints. Installation was fairly easy too. Haven’t found a good rear option I like yet though.
r/4Runner • Front and rear dash cam suggestions! ->awesome! i have a garmin 57 on mine
r/ToyotaTacoma • First mod: Dash cam install ->I currently have a Garmin Mini installed in my wife's Grand Cherokee using a USB adaptor from [Dongar](https://dongar.tech/). I also have a Garmin 57 installed in my work truck, which I wired up using one of the Garmin parking mode cables. It's not hard to do yourself, but it shouldn't be too expensive to get done locally.
r/nova • Dashcam installation ->I have a Garmin 57 in one car and a viofo in the other. My wife just bought a 25 and I installed the Garmin to the right and high. Running the cable was a delight since this car has a hidden 12v socket in the glove box. Tucked all wires in the trim and did not have to remove one thing. Viofo A 129 gets rave pro reviews and has a new model out.
r/Subaru_Outback • Best Dashcam ->Been running the Dongar Adapter with a Garmin 57 Dash Cam in my Tacoma since I got it in May 2022. I bought 6" USB cable off Amazon so I didn't have find a place to hide a bunch of extra cabling and it's been a solid setup. Within 6 months it saved my ass when a guy took an illegal right-turn on red RIGHT in front of me then slammed on his brakes and came to a complete stop (I think it was an insurance fraud attempt). I got slowed down to about 5mph when I popped him in the bumper, and luckily there was no airbag deployment, but still cracked up the front bumper pretty good. I could tell the cop thought it was going ot be an easy ticket for me, especially after the other driver convieniently left out the part about making an illegal right-turn on red. When the cop asked me what happened, I just said it would be easier to show you my dash cam footage. The other driver threw a fit when the cop issued him a citation, yelling and screaming at him. When the cop hit him with, "Well, his dash cam footage doesn't lie," he changed his tune and was asking if he could just pay the ticket. 😂 Possibly the best $250 I've ever spent.
r/ToyotaTacoma • Garmin Mini 3 + Dongar Combo Dash Cam ->I run the Garmin 57 in my Prime and I really like it. This one has its own internal battery so it doesn’t need to draw off the 12v when the car is parked.
r/rav4prime • Dashcam for Primes ->I got the garmin drive dashcam. I actually have two- one in the front windshield and a mini one in the rear, because a majority of car accidents are getting rear ended which a front windshield cam will miss. I like the garmin ones because the app integrates the two cameras to show a single video with both front and rear views. Plus it has a parking mode so if someone hits your car when it’s in a parking lot, you can see who it was.
r/rav4prime • Dash & rear camera recommendations ->The only thing you’d be missing is if someone hits you in the front while you’re parked. The rear cam won’t see it. Yes both are hardwired, but I haven’t had an issue with battery drain. Yes both do have to be hardwired so there is a one time expense there. I had to take it to an alarm/radio shop to get it wired up. Honestly a good idea regardless because if you try to do it yourself, unless you remove the A pillar, the wire will be in front of the airbag which could cause issues if you’re in an accident.
r/rav4prime • Dash & rear camera recommendations ->I know 2 guys with them that have been really happy. They are still selling units. There are a lot of action cameras but I went down the rabbit hole and two issues hit most, battery life (I wanted at min 4 hours) and dashcam mode that was useful. I ended up getting the Garmin front (recently) and rear (over 2 years ago) and have been really happy. For me integration to make it easy and on every ride is key. I move them between bikes in 30 seconds too this way.
