I am running Garmin Dash Cam 54 for few years now on my Gen 4, hooked up to the auto dimming mirror by Dongar's (I believe it was) 10-Pin Type E connector. Works seamless and without any cable management since everything is short and hidden behind the mirror. There are newer Garmin cameras out nowadays, but if you don't need parking mode - I can only recommend. :) Here is the link for the power cable connecting to the auto dimming mirror: [https://dongar.tech/products/mazdaframeless?srsltid=AfmBOopPox1zgBEQtyy04SkdpUJPc8CmfoLB9qW2QvfC6QCe95ZOwMIS](https://dongar.tech/products/mazdaframeless?srsltid=AfmBOopPox1zgBEQtyy04SkdpUJPc8CmfoLB9qW2QvfC6QCe95ZOwMIS)
I have a Garmin 55 that has very basic safety features. It warns when stopped traffic starts moving again, proximity detection in front, and whether you're drifting in your lane. It's not without problems. For example, late in the day when trees cast long shadows on the road sometimes confuse the proximity detector. Also, tar lines in the road can be detected as lane markings and the cam incorrectly warns you that you're drifting out of your lane.
Some 10+ years ago, the dash cam market barely existed. Your choices were from shit to barely usable. Garmin was one of the choices that could record some sort of footage at night and was only option available on split payments too so went that. Rest of competitors wanted the £200 upfront. I've stuck with Garmin since then. Latest purchase was the 55 I think, the one with the lower fov so I can keep distance details. I've been eyeing the Viofo A229 as my next potential upgrade, despite my comfort with Garmin.
Iām on my third or fourth generation of Garmin cams, love them. Recently got two Mini 3ās for 99$ each on Amazon with free shipping to kuwait
I know 2 guys with them that have been really happy. They are still selling units. There are a lot of action cameras but I went down the rabbit hole and two issues hit most, battery life (I wanted at min 4 hours) and dashcam mode that was useful. I ended up getting the Garmin front (recently) and rear (over 2 years ago) and have been really happy. For me integration to make it easy and on every ride is key. I move them between bikes in 30 seconds too this way.
