I have the same Dashcam, it is fine honestly, however I also noted an issue (which is very dumb). 1. The video lock currently start after the shock happen (or after you press the lock button on the left). I raised the issue, and they told me they fixed the firmware. Now the lock feature should lock the current video loop, instead of starting a new locked loop after the shock. 2. You can update the G-shock level so it does not auto lock the video for every road bump or hard break.

Yes I looked into GKU and ended up buying their D700 with front and rear cams

r/melbourne • Given the general level of sketchiness of Melbourne drivers, I don't think a dash cam is optional any more. ->

I did not power the rear camera separately. I have a dash cam where the rear camera is powered through a centralized unit / front camera. GKU D700, driving a 2023. I run a cable from the rear dash cam, through the roof liner, down the “C” pillar or side of the car in line with rear seats, under the floor trim, under the seats, up through the B pillars (separating front door and back doors) along the roof trim again through the front of the car near the windshield where the dash cam is connected. Tuck wires under weather stripping or trim where possible. The rear camera plugs into the front camera assembly. The front camera assembly plugs into center console 12v, down through the roof liner, around the A pillar trim, under passenger side dashboard, under console trim, and then plugged in. Sounds like a lot, but you just need an interior accessory tool and some time.

My last 2 VIOFO’s didn’t last and had a lot of issues with intermittent recordings on the 70mai, so I’ve tried a cheaper GKU D700…wish me luck. Dad’s had one on his car for about a month and I can’t fault it. Front and rear quality is very good.

GKU D700 - around $122 on Amazon after coupon. Have 3 of these in our household and they’ve been flawless (installed with the hardwire kit for an extra $25ish). App is great, decent size touchscreen, good quality front and rear video and capacitor based I believe. Had Viofos in the past which didn’t last more than 1-2 years, so thought I’d give these a try.

GKU D700!! Pretty impressed by the product. Took me about 15 mins to set it up using the cigarette charger thing. I think it's on sale at Amazon currently.

I recently bought one. Pretty easy to install. Just plug it in and stick it to the front and back windscreens. Tucking in the wires takes longest. All in all good quality product. Had an issue with WiFi disconnecting and reconnecting. Got in touch with their WhatsApp chat and got a quick reply.

It records pretty well at night too. Still haven’t figured out saving/ downloading files. It records in 5 minute clips and then records over them

I got the "GKU 4K Dash Cam Front and Rear". Very straight forward to use and video quality is nice and clear. Takes a bit of effort to wire in and hide the wires but think it's the same for most dashcams.
