Similar to FitcamX in terms of integrating the camera with a replacement housing for your electronics behind your rearview mirror and tapping into the rain sensor power, but Mangoal has a higher-resolution dual Starvis 2-based one (both front and rear) with better image quality. I can actually make out license plates at night. Also, from what I've heard the FitcamX requires you to remove the cover to get to the SD card. Mangoal's SD slot is accessible from the outside. The dual Starvis 2 version is pretty expensive, though.
Yep, no complaints. Great picture quality, easy to get files off of, never have to think about them until I want to pull a recording off of it (which is exactly what you want in a dashcam). A lady says "Start Recording" every time you start the car, which *can* get a bit grating, but you can turn it off in the app. I've left it on just because I like the confirmation that the dashcam is on and working every time I drive.
Yes, mine is dual STARVIS. No, you cannot access the camera with the car completely off. However, accessory power will power on the camera, so don't need to fully start the car to access the camera.
Yes, the second camera is the rear. It's not so bad for a coupe. Just run the cable through the headliner, and the headliner is easy to pull down at the edges by enough to get the cable in easily. You might need a trim tool for the B and C pillar trim pieces, but regardless it's not a big deal. I have no idea how you'd even start to do it for a convertible. I think you could still anchor the camera to the rear window somehow, but there's no wiring path I can think of that would work, look neat, and allow the roof to retract. In fact, I'm not even 100% sure that the camera works with convertibles at all, since from what I remember convertibles may have a different electronics package below the rearview camera mount housing? If you can install the front, the rear might just have to be installed as a rear-facing front camera that would capture both the view inside the cabin as well as hopefully a decent view out the rear windshield.
I have the mangoal 4k dashcam for my s550 and its worked well. Hides behind the rear view so cant even tell one is installed. I went this way because I have a convertible and I leave the top down about 99% of the time. Picked it up from Amazon and it was an easy install.
I got the mangoal custom fit from Amazon. Seamless install. Looks factory. Very happy with it.
I have the Mangoal 4K that looks like it came from the factory already installed. I also installed one in my wifes car as well. This looks neat no wires uses the auto dim power on rear view mirror to power the camera.
