Running these analyses costs money. Buy through my links to help keep lights on! I may get a small commission.
I’ve been using a Nextbase 222 with a suction cup mount (purchased separately) for at least half a year no. No complaints.
If you want the best appearance then get the wiring kit, if you aren’t bothered you might be ok with the 12v adapter and the wire hanging out the front of the console. Nextbase very easy to wire in just ensure you get the right wiring kit. The second generation needs the 2nd gen wire even though it is rated same I had issues reusing my gen1 kit trying to save money. Depending on your car, it’s as simple as finding a fuse in the passenger (easiest), or driver footwell, or in the engine compartment. I had not needed to try the latter as have done the wiring on Peugeots, Opels and Fords all of which had a passenger fuse board available. There are many Yt guides so you can probably find one for your car. It involves: -Finding a fuse which is live when the ignition is on only. Can do this with an electrical detector pen or a multimeter easily, or by consulting the exact wiring schematic for your car using the VIN which a car forum can help with if struggling. -Removing then Tapping the fuse by using the piggyback adapter supplied with the Nextbase kit. -threading the wire behind the glovebox (can usually access the dash from a side panel with passenger door wide). -threading up the passenger pillar (most cars pop off very easily but if you break the plastic clips you will need to get some more but they are super cheap online. -tucking the wire along the roof lining. I suggest to find the fuses first then mount the cam then start there and work down so you have a ball of spare wire at the footwell and cable tie it out of the way. I also wired my rear cam in which was quite easy but just needed a cable tie to thread through the bootlid harness was the tricky bit. Finally for the cam I always buy reconditioned Nextbase from their eBay shop. Save a fortune. You can also get the right memory card (very important to get the best you can). Hope this helps
Got a Nextbase front & rear installed and just plug in with the 12V cigar lighter socket.
We've had Nextbase front and rear for about 5 years now, no issues. Just remember to reformat the SD card occasionally.
Halfords hardwired Nextbase front and rear cams into my Citroën e-C4 with no problem!
