I also got nextbase 422GW with rear camera and hardwired kit. Got a local garage to install it.
From a deatiled youtube review of them a few years ago I read that they all basically have the same chip inside them. None of them are that great in low light or 4K dispite their claims. So pick one that is reasonably priced and go for it. Once its stuck on your windscreen you will never look or touch it again, so don't worry about touch screens or 'features' you will never use. It just needs to 'work' when you start the car and continue recording. We have a nextbase 422GW which we got installed in 2022. Its worked non stop since then. The only issue we've had is occasionally the SD card says 'error' and we need to reformat it and then it carries on as usuall.
Nextbase 422GW; it has all the essential features without the subscription nonsense
I’m on the road every day visiting clients and have just got one. See some crazy shit going on every day, stuff you wouldn’t believe, and viewing dash cam vids on here made me get my finger out and get protected with a camera. The standard of driving in the UK is shocking. I’ve ridden motorbikes for close to thirty years and have said for years every car driver should be made to do some form of motorcycle test, even for a day, to make them more aware of their surroundings and hopefully realise they are behind the wheel of a killing machine. I have 4 bikes currently, all 1000cc + yet i NEVER speed in a car. You’ll find me at 60/62 mph in the left hand lane of the motorway, getting to places at the same time as the right hand lane hoggers with their feet to the floor (getting to the traffic 5 seconds quicker). See this all the time and most days i’m moving quicker than the guys way out in the overtaking lanes. Went off on a tangent there but you get my drift! (I got a Nextbase 422, £200 for the front and rear).
About 400 bucks, 422 next base with rear camera.. self installed https://preview.redd.it/cz0f96dcq53g1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1961c295368d58eb5dbf2407f23fea607722dce7 The Toyota dashcam is there, but its a backup, nothing more
Nextbase 432gw, it's utter dog shit and I hate it. Don't buy nextbase ever
seeing this after i got gifted a nextbase 422GW for christmas💔
Welcome to the van life! I have a Ducato too, and those Remis blinds definitely make dashcam placement tricky. You should look into Nextbase cameras (like the 422GW or 522GW). They use a 'Click&Go' magnetic mount. The trick: You stick the small base to the windshield once. The convenience: The camera itself attaches via a very strong magnet. You can snap it off in a split second at night and pop it back on in the morning without messing with wires or suction cups. It’s rock solid and won't fall off even on bumpy roads. Another solid option is the Garmin Dash Cam Mini 2—it’s so tiny that most people just leave it behind the mirror and the blinds close right over it. Hope this helps!
I'm using a nextbase 422GW. Quality is good even in lowlight/night driving.
