I had a Nextbase 522GW at launch, very mediocre, and it's even climbed in price in the 6 years since it was released.
I have a Nexbase 522 something or other with the front and back attachment .. POS gets super hot even in cooler weather, sometimes just doesn’t record / save and connection to the app is pretty poor .. would not recommend.
Nextbase 522, front and rear camera (both internal to the vehicle, window-stuck). App-based recovery and archival of footage, ripped from the removable SSD on the camera. Good camera quality front and rear, acceptable night quality. Legible number plates and intuitive to setup and use. Buy it from Halfords (£200?) and pay them £50 to install it for you with a hardwire kit so it runs off your battery. pro-tip: the adhesive pads are terrible and will let go (usually in summer, you get 12 months use out of them easy) but Halfords know this, and my local Halfords will just give me replacement pads for free. YMMV
I use the Nextbase 522GW. The software isn’t great - it’s usually quicker for me to plug the SD card into my laptop to access footage. But it does the job!
Yes but i think 60fps drops the picture quality does it not? I’m sure i ended up having to go slower FPS but that gave a better resolution image. Counter intuitive but the best i could get from that cam. It’s in my wife’s car now and after trying a Chinese brand I’ve gone back to Nextbase and have the 522GW with rear cam. Very happy with it.
I've had the Nextbase 522GW for about 5years. Not the cheapeast but the image quality is top notch and it hasn't missed a beat since I installed it. I also installed the optional rear-view camera, which I would also reccommend. I installed it myself. The worst job by far was threading the cable through the headlining and rear hatch for the rear camera.
Personally running a Nextbase 522gw that I’ve had now for like 4 years that I’ve moved from car to car. It works absolutely fine. Image quality is more than good enough to prove my innocence in a crash. The app sucks ass so I just pull the SD card out and pop it in an SD reader to download the footage. I love the idea of the Viofo but the prices (albeit for fantastic camera quality) just aren’t justifiable to replace the perfectly respectable Nextbase. Which can be had for a fantastic price now for front and rear dashcam sets.
I'm currently using a Nextbase 522GW in my main car, with the ball rear cam. It works, but it has a tendency to get quite hot and the other day (car was reading mid 20 degrees) when it turned on it had an SD card error. It needed to cool down before it would work again, and that's started happening intermittently even when its not hot. Although the NB app, on paper, has everything you need its terrible and slow. I've been looking to move away from Nextbase for my other car (which has a 322GW in it, which stopped working in less than a year of use). Playback is OK, but I think the quality of the image could be better. Also the G meter is really sensitive even when turned down to low. With it on it locks/saves a clip when it things something has happened, but was triggering just going around my local small roundabout that had a slight pothole in it which caused a little bump...
I have a NextBase 522GW. 1440p, 60fps, front and rear camera. The only issue I've had is trying to link it to my phone, but that isn't a necessary step.
I got a Nextbase 522 GW a few years back. It's hard wired into my rear view mirror, so no messy wires. Very happy with it. The app is a bit flaky when trying to update firmware or download videos to the phone, but other than that it's very reliable. I just take out the sim card if I need to download directly to PC. I have the rear camera as well, but never got around to wiring it up.
