I'm using the Rove 4k-2k. Mostly because I didn't want to stick anything to my ceramic-protected-but-not-tinted windshield. I had a mirror mount from my last car and this transferred well.
Yep. That one is unfortunately mounted on my tinted windshield though.
If you are a hard core dash cam fan, of Rove of course... then Rove Dual Pro is pretty high end for dual channel dash cam with starvis 2 sensor. Includes free cpl and memory card in packaging. Gives two video iq modes. Plate clarity priority and color priority. Its true 4k cmos sensor. Nothing can beat it at the moment.
Mount angle looks weird imo from operations perspective. You can get Rove dual with free memory card
I know my dash cam Rove R2 Dual Pro has Sony Starvis 2 sensor with Platepix tech like color priority or License Plate Priority settings in video settings.
With Custom License Plate Ai setting you can achieve this easily. R2-4K DUAL PRO Dash Cam, which uses the latest Sony STARVIS 2 sensor technology. Here are the key details and features of the ROVE R2-4K DUAL PRO: Key Specifications and Performance Dual Channel Recording: Records footage from both the front and rear of the vehicle simultaneously. Video Resolution: Front Camera: True 4K UHD (3840 \times 2160P) at 30fps. Rear Camera: 2K QHD (2560 \times 1440P) at 30fps. Image Sensors (Sony STARVIS 2): Front: Sony IMX678 (8MP CMOS Sensor) Rear: Sony IMX675 (5MP CMOS Sensor) STARVIS 2 Advantage: This latest sensor technology significantly improves low-light performance, enhances dynamic range (reducing overexposure in bright areas and retaining detail in dark areas), and captures clearer details like license plates. Field of View (FOV): Front: 150^\circ ultra-wide angle. Rear: 140^\circ wide angle. Aperture: Front F1.7, Rear F1.55 (helps capture more light for better night vision). Power Source: Built-in Supercapacitor, which is more durable and reliable than traditional batteries, especially in extreme temperatures. Features Built-in Wi-Fi: Dual-band (2.4GHz and 5GHz) for fast file transfer (up to 30MB/s) and viewing/managing videos through the ROVE app on iOS and Android devices. Built-in Quad-Mode GPS: Records precise driving routes, locations, and speed data, which is embedded in the video footage. 24-Hour Parking Mode: Offers multiple modes (Time-Lapse, Motion Detection, Collision Detection) to monitor your vehicle when parked. Note: Requires a separate hardwire kit for constant power. Included Accessories (Often): The package typically includes a 128GB ROVE PRO microSD card and a CPL (Circular Polarizing Lens) filter to reduce glare and reflections. Display: 3-inch IPS screen on the front camera unit. Storage: Supports up to 1TB microSD cards. G-Sensor: Automatically detects sudden movement or collision and locks the current video file to prevent it from being overwritten. Loop Recording: Records continuously, overwriting the oldest non-locked files when the memory card is full.
Look into ROVE DASH CAMS, I LIKE 3 CHANNEL ROVE R3 OR ROVE DUAL PRO FOR 2 CHANNELS.
If you are not buying the R2 Pro model with the IMX678, it is not a true 4k camera. The r2 dual uses the imx675 which is only capable of 2k video resolution. We do lots of testing. While it fits a certain price point its a pretty mid camera
I used to review dashcams on youtube and have a 04 Element. Currently I'm running the Rove 4K-R2 Duo Pro since it fits the windshield nicely due to it's angle. A lot of dashcams are meant for more inclined windshields.
Big fan of my r2 pro
I got the ROVE R2-4K Dual PRO for $190. The video clarity is really good.
As a Arizonan, I laugh at your hot summers. My Rove Pro made it through the summer. It has a super cap instead of a battery. I avoided a camera with a battery, because I've heard from others they die during the summer here.
This is just for the front camera? It took all of 15 minutes to run power through the headliner, down the A pillar, and to an add a fuse adapter. The back camera is what took a good hour to route through the hatch conduit and all the way to the front camera. I have the Rove R2 4k dual with the hardwire kit. Works great. No complaints. Also not a sales pitch. I just haven’t used other dash cams so can’t speak to them. Can’t post any pictures. Thanks Tiguan subreddit config.
I did that for this very same reason. I got a Viofo and spent $400 for front and back cameras. Then I returned it because they were asking me to buy their memory card for over $100. Got a used Rove, 2 camera system for $100 used. It has the same starvis 2 sensor in front but only 1080p for back camera. It comes with a memory card and their specs are easy for upgrading the card. It just works. Also, it does not beep when recording as the Viofo did. I'm sure there is a setting to change that. It also allows me to put in car's license plate to display on video recordings. It has a screensaver mode also. It shows direction of travel which I don't have on my rear view mirror. I was hesitant on routing the wires, but they were a breeze on my hatchback.
I have been really pleased with my Rove 4k dual. Does front and back and was just on sale recently for $100
I have a Rove R2-4K and only just started using the parking mode. I tested, and it does come on and start recording when the g sensor is triggered even with the ignition off and key removed. Mine is a bit older and is a single cam, but it says when I enable parking mode that it has an internal power source so no battery connection is required, but I did buy an ODB power adapter so the wire wasn't visible going to the USB port. I like mine so much that I bought a dual cam rove r2 for my wife's car and just bought a sl third one for my brother for Christmas. Got both (dual cam versions) for $99 and they came with a micro sd card that works fine for now but will probably replace the card sooner than if I bought a better quality one. Video quality is pretty good even on the rear cam.
