Thinkware - Q800 PRO

My current and previous dash cams were Thinkware. I only changed cameras to upgrade, not because there was anything wrong with the old camera. Had a Q800 Pro previously and am now using the U3000. Both have been good. I had them professionally installed because I can't be bothered to do it myself.

Been using my Thinkware q800 pro since November 2019 and no issues and my Thinkware Q200 pro for about 3 years.

Thinkware q800 pro for 5 years Nov 1st and Thinkware f200 pro with multiplexer for 2 to 3 years.

Alberta here and my thinkware q800 has been solid in winters as well.

The important thing is to have one. When you start researching them, you’ll see enthusiasts on YouTube worrying about every little detail of resolution, how far away you can see license plates at night, how many cams it has, etc. Sure, that stuff is all nice, but it also tends to make you upscale your purchase to cover every possibility, and I’ve had friends who never made a decision because it all just seemed too hard. Don’t let the number of choices, and opinions, make you fear making a mistake. If you stick with the main brands, you really won’t go wrong. On features, just think about what you really need. In the end, its primary purpose is to document what happens and they all do that. Even a front-only camera documents a rear-end collision because it shows the impact and whether you were moving or stationary and proves you weren’t backing up. Would you like to have a rear camera? Of course. Would it be useful to resolve that license plate? Absolutely. If you can afford it, you may be happy to have those features one day, but one without will still do that job. Work within your budget, read reviews and get the best one you can afford without breaking the bank. Then install it and don’t read any more reviews. There is always something newer and better coming out. For what it’s worth, I have a Vantrue N4 Pro 3 and my wife has a Thinkware Q800Pro. The Thinkware model is pretty lions in the tooth by now, but it’s worked well, and the Vantrue is newer and also works well.

Im using thinkware q800pro I believe, it doesn't have a screen and the footprint is small so it does not interfere. It's mounted somewhere behind the rearvirw mirror

I’ve had my Thinkware 800pro in 3 different vehicles now. Works great and easy to get the video right when u need it

Been running a thinkware q800 that I pulled from the wreck of my last car and installed into my current 17gt. I’ve had several of this brand of camera and they’ve all been reliable. https://www.reddit.com/r/Dashcam/s/tkoaoBOBOk I also noticed that car dealers started selling thinkware cameras too so it’s probably a safe bet it works well with your car.

I got the bottom left dual channel Thinkware with GPS receiver from Best Buy for 129.99 on sale. Install wasn't in a Colorado but a 2010 Tahoe and once I found some unused pins to hardwire to, running the wires was a piece of cake. From the driver's seat, you cannot see the front dash cam or wires as it's tucked up in front of the the rear view mirror with wires running behind the covering that hides the auto dimming/compass wiring.

I have been running a thinkware front and back combo for over 5 years now with no issues. It even saved me in court once after an idiot crashed into me and lied about it.
