I got the one that Ford sells; Thinkware 1000 I think?. However it’s like double the price from them so I got it from Amazon on sale. Got the wiring harness that plugs into the OBD port. It’s awesome.
r/FordBronco • Dash cam recommendations ->Got a thinkware U1000 front and rear camera hardwired. No issues with the eye sight.
r/Subaru_Outback • Dash cam reccomendation 2025 Outback ->I've had a Thinkware U1000 for a few years now. Absolutely love it. Only downside is replacing the SD card every year or so due to excessive use with 2 cameras and hot weather
r/Dashcam • Best reputable brand name dashcam ->Thinkware U1000 dual channel setup with batteries and radar for parking mode. Has been going strong since 2021.
r/Dashcam • What model dash cam do you have and how long has it been going for? ->I never take mine down, and it stays in place. I've had min in place for 6 months now. I purchased a Thinkware U1000 dashcam. Best investment.
r/florida • Florida friends, how does a dash cam here not become a hot mess? Literally. ->Thinkware U1000. Which is one of their older models now. https://www.amazon.com/THINKWARE-3840X2160-2560X1440-Dashboard-Recorder/dp/B07XD6FLSY?th=1 It's not a perfect model either (128gig micro sd card max), but I've caught a few things on it now. As long as you get something that can get details it's worth it.
r/WRX • I cannot recommend investing in a dash cam enough. You never know what other people are going to do. ->Said elsewhere, but got the U1000 Thinkware, mostly because it was a front+rear that I managed to wire up in my sti when I still wasn't all that familiar with cars. Honestly their price points make them not the most precise investment, but what you're investing in is security and peace of mind, so anything helping attain that should make it worth it.
r/WRX • I cannot recommend investing in a dash cam enough. You never know what other people are going to do. ->Started with a GroPro because I used it for skiing/ snowboards. Ended up being a pain to have to erase footage once the SD card was used up. Then I went to a Thinkware and never moved to another one. The one I have now has been going strong for 5 years. It functions fine with the summer heat. It’s the Thinkware U1000 Front and Rear. Installation was easy. Just run the cord from the rear dashcam on your back window along the trim to the front dashcam. My only complaint is that when it gets extremely hot (100+ degree days) it makes a weird screech noise when you disconnect it. Doesn’t affect the camera functionality.
r/Dashcam • Dashcam you use ->Dashcam is absolutely worth it but forget about the built in one. Get something like the Thinkware U1000 or even better the newer U3000. 4k front cam 2k rear, has parking mode so it still records while you're parked, gives red light/speed camera warnings. It's like $600 USD if you do professional hardwire installation but absolutely worth it for a car that's almost $100k all in. Don't want to be hit or vandalized while parked without knowing who did it or what happened. I'm running the U1000 myself which I also had for my previous car and I couldn't be happier, worth every penny, paid for itself the first time I got into an incident and proved I wasn't at fault. For a few hundred more you can get the U3000 which is the newer version, which I've read gives you real time alerts to your phone for example when it detects something hitting your car when parked.
r/AMG • Worth Getting Dash cam? ->I like my Thinkware u1000, but it’s expensive. I’ve heard the viofo is a good budget option. I’ve also heard good things about blackvue.
r/BuyItForLife • Best dash cam for a new car? ->Thinkware range. The u1000 dual channle. Back and front camera plus speed camera alerts. Dpeends on where you are get it professionally installed and wired direct to your car. Or diy and use the cigarette lighter to power it.
r/drivingUK • Dash Cam recommendations ->Thinkware U1000 It’s in both of our vehicles and has been great. They’re wired to the fuse box and record when we aren’t driving
r/f150 • What dashcam are you all using? ->I have a Thinkware U1000 and I have the U3000 in the wife’s 10/10 I love them and will continue to buy them. Clear picture and great recording when parked
r/Austin • Learn me on your Austin dashcams. What holds up here? ->Got the same one. Looking into something new now that I’m a two car household
r/WRX • I cannot recommend investing in a dash cam enough. You never know what other people are going to do. ->I would do that or the Thinkware U3000 or U1000 I just prefer the size and shape of the BlackVue. Both are top rated and can be transferred to any newer car you get pretty easily. I work at a dealer and we charge like 3hrs for install. But it could definitely be done by anyone with reasonable ability and time.
r/Volvo • I highly recommend the FITCAMX for anyone looking for a dashcam. Very easy installation that looks 100% OEM. Great 4K video quality too. ->I have the Thinkware U1000 in mine, will be upgrading to the U3000 as I need to replace another vehicles dash cam. I have mine hardwired with front and rear camera, upgraded SD card, and haven’t had any issues.
r/Challenger • Do you use a dash cam? Which one? ->Thinkware u1000. Front cam is 4k30fps or 1440p 60fps. Back is 1440p 30. App isnt the greatest but the camera quality is great. But was also like $1k
r/wrx_vb • What Dash Cam do you have? ->You will have a difficult time reading license plates, especially at night. During the day, if the speed differential is great, like if you are passing or being passed, the license plate may not be clear. You’ll definitely want a 4K dashcam but I’m not aware of any which have a 4K rear camera. There may be some, I just don’t know. My last two dashcams have been the Thinkware U-1000 and the U-3000. The image quality is excellent. The hardware and software functionality allowing you to retrieve recordings is way better in the U-3000 than the U-1000. They both have a feature which will turn off the camera (parking mode) when the 12v battery drops too much. If you’re in an EV or just want the added assurance that the parking mode won’t eat up the cars 12v battery, you can add on an iVolt backup battery which supplies the camera power in parking mode.
r/Dashcam • Current undisputed best dash cam for front + rear view. recording. as well as parked/overnight recording? ->I have a Thinkware U1000 and use their own OBD port adapter in my 2025 3 TPP. Been wired for months with no issues at all. The camera however has software that allows it to shutoff at a wattage threshold you select. The same camera was also previously hardwired via fusebox in a civic for 5 years, but that's irrelevant. Just saying the camera is durable at least.
r/mazda3 • Dashcam Setups ->There are no good ones, including the Escort one. Escort detectors are kinda problematic (slow response) even in their highest end Max and Redline 360c models, and the camera one is even worse. Better off sticking to a Viofo or Thinkware camera + a good detector like a V1G2 or R4/R4W or R8/R8W (though I'm not happy with Uniden's business practices now, so my recommendation is V1G2). Or if you want the least expensive RD that works reasonably, the RAD 700i. Viofo is having a Black Friday sale that starts on 11/15 I think. Other brands probably will too. I intend to get an A229 Pro when the sale starts, myself. If I were going for Thinkware I would probably go for one of the U1000 models but Vortex seems to recommend Viofo mostly so that's why I am going with them.
r/radardetectors • Best radar detector with dash cam in 2024? ->I'm pretty happy with my Thinkware U1000, video quality is really good with 4k in the front and 2k in the back, it hasn't had any temperature related issues since I installed it ranging from the heat of the Okanagan summers to the deep chills of Edmonton winters. I would recommend that you look into including a battery pack for it to prevent draining the car's battery if you get it hardwired because our winters are really hard on car batteries and adding a slow parasitic draw to it from the camera will hurt it in the long term using it when parked with the vehicle shutoff. Having a parking mode is helpful if you get hit in a parking lot. My main annoyance with it is the upload speed to my phone feels fairly slow due to the file size so having a micro SD card reader for your PC is a much better way of getting videos off of the camera.
r/Edmonton • It's dash cam season - looking for recommendations ->I used to have the F200 PRO (2-channel, front/rear) and it was great. But the current redditors on r/dashcam are all about the Sony STARVIS sensors. So I just upgraded to the U1000 (2-channel, front/rear) since it has a STARVIS sensor on both the front and rear cameras. It is bigger than the F200 PRO, but it mounts more along the windshield flush vs. hanging down. I'm getting it installed soon, so can't provide any other feedback other than that's the unit I just got. Thinkware F200 PRO bundle link: [https://thinkwarestore.com/product/f200-pro-front-rear-dash-cam-bundle-incl-gps-us/](https://thinkwarestore.com/product/f200-pro-front-rear-dash-cam-bundle-incl-gps-us/) Thinkware U1000 bundle link: [https://thinkwarestore.com/product/u1000-front-rear-dash-cam-bundle-us/](https://thinkwarestore.com/product/u1000-front-rear-dash-cam-bundle-us/) As for SD Card, the r/dashcam folks recommended the Samsung PRO Endurance cards. Each dashcam has a limit on SD card size. I'm going to try to do 256GB on the U1000 and see if that works. Seems like others on that subreddit haven't had problems. There were problems for folks using the San Disk SD cards for some reason.
r/Lexus • Dash Cam recommendation? ->I just had installed a Powercell 8 to power my Thinkware U1000 two channel dash cam. The external battery takes the load off of the 12V.
r/MachE • Dash Cam ->I bought Thinkware U1000 for the parking mode. If money is no concern, go with the U3000 and have it professionally installed. I had mine installed by Best Buy and so far so good.
r/MachE • What dash cam are you all using for the MachE? ->Used to have Thinkware U1000 in my previous car. Now have a Garmin X310 front w/ Dongar splitter and Garmin Mini 3 rear tucked and plugged into power outlet in the trunk.
r/CX50 • Dash Cam Suggestions ->I have a Thinkware U1000. It sits mostly behind the mirror and is hardwired into the fusebox in the passenger footwell, for footage whilst parked. Quality is great but the software is a little naff.
r/Miata • Got an ND and a dash cam? Recommendations? ->I have been running a thinkware front and back combo for over 5 years now with no issues. It even saved me in court once after an idiot crashed into me and lied about it.
r/CarTalkUK • Dashcams ->I also have a Pilot ('20). I will be installing a U3000. We have a U1000 in our Santa Fe.
r/dashcams • Best dash cam? ->I got a thinkware 4k for the bronco, fits really nicely behind the mirror and works great
r/FordBronco • Dash cam recommendations for 2023 Bronco Wildtrak ->I've had my 2 channel Thinkware front and rear dashcam installed 4 years ago. My car hasn't been broken in. I also put black electric tape to the front LED notification lights as you can't disable it in its Settings. Don't get the ones that look like a camera those are way more obvious when seen from the outside. Viofo, Thinkware, Blackvue are wedge-shaped and less conspicuous
r/SanJose • Will you install dash cam for your car if living in San Jose? ->
