Look at Project Farms video on YouTube. I believe the VioFo was the best overall, although not without its limitations. I have had Thinkware U1000 in my vehicle for over 3 years now. No issues and video and image clarity definitely good. You can look that up as well.
Sure. But practically covering every make is also not feasible, which is understandable. And like i said, i have thinkware which is fine for me for 3+ years now.
Im on my 3rd Thinkware product. (I buy a new one for each new vehicle.) Just traded in my 2020 Honda Passport (it had the Thinkware U1000). Receiving my 2026 Passport Elite this afternoon at 3pm. Already ordered Thinkware U3000 from Amazon and should receive it this afternoon. I normally pay a local collision repair $100-200 to install the rear camera and hide the wires.
I’ve consolidated on front- and rear-facing Kenwood dash cams. They’ve done us well over the years. We’ve used SoundsGreat in Hoover to install ours. I had a ThinkWare U1000 or something like that a while back. Giant pile of garbage, don’t recommend them. The only thing I do like is their battery pack that can be wired in. It charges from the vehicle and your dash cam will draw from it. It allows the camera system to run up to 24hours after the vehicle is shut off and will not leach from your car battery. When the vehicle is turned on it recharges the battery pack fully within 45 minutes.
My 2013 a35 came with every type of connectiion you can imagine, even for digital télé, but no aux. Had CarPlay retro installed and they used a USB to AUX. I had this done in RadioKing. As for my dashcam set up I went for a Thinkware u1000 Front & rear because I previously had a Nextbase that died within a year. Got the dashcams and fitting from Amir at [ICE](https://icesystems.ie/) absolute gents & very neat work.
I've had a Thinkware U1000 dual for almost 6 years and it's been great. It also doesn't have a screen which I absolutely love because it's that much more sleek and out of the way.
Yeah I only use the connection to set it up and that's it. If I need to pull video I take the card out and plug it into my computer, so it hasn't affected me much. It's also why I don't care for a screen since I have no use for one.
My Thinkware U1000 dual system is still going strong after 6 years. It's great and has saved me in one collision which more than paid for itself. If I had to buy one right now, I'd have a hard time justifying a U1000 again considering it's so outdated. I'd probably go with a Viofo today if I had to choose! They seem to be reviewed the best.
Got a Thinkware U1000 with front and rear hardwired in MK8.5. Works good for me.
