I have the Vantrue Element 3 dash cam. It's a 3 way, so not only is front facing and rear facing but there's also another camera that shows the cab, pointing towards the rear of the vehicle. I love it. I get good clarity especially when it comes to license plate reading, there are certain conditions that it will make it difficult to read but other than that, it has served its purpose so well. I have bought it with a hardwire kit, though it does drain the battery even with the shut off voltage kit set properly which is the only thing that will convince me to invest into a different dash cam, the only times it doesn't drain my battery is if I'm driving it within I think 6 hours of the time I shut the car off (I work roughly about 6-9 hours a day and it's given me the light up on my dash that exterior accessories are draining the battery which in turn I resort to unplugging it so it doesn't drain it) Even by using the cigarette light adapter is more useful than that if it means not letting it drain the battery when the car is shut off overrides that inconvenient problem, it'd prove itself way more useful
Vantrue. I have the front and rear version in mine and my wife’s rig
Front facing only is better than none. I have a two-channel Vantrue - front and inside cabin. I got it because I also do a rideshare. What I noticed is that the inside view also picks up (although rudimentary) on the sides of the car and a bit of the back of the car. As for screen as distraction - you can set it up so it will turn of after some time (mine does after 30 seconds). I also installed mine to the right of the mirror so it is barely in my view at all (I have Honda Accord)
I got Vantrue because I wanted front/inside combination and for some reason Viofo/Blackvue don't offer the exact setup like this. Usually it's only if you get 3 or 4 channel setup and it's reflected in the price. So far I'm happy with it (it's been a few months).
I have a 2 channel Vantrue I’ve been using for about a month now. No issues and so far it’s done what it’s suppose to. Very easy to use.
Most dashcams with “GPS” feature show speed. [Vantrue has some good 2 channel and 3 channel cams](https://www.reddit.com/r/dashcams/s/65SdNGK6Jc) tried and tested. Same with VIOFO, Garmin, and blackvue. Stay away from Pruveeo.
My Vantru was 3 years old when the Texas sun took it out.
I think it may have been my fault. Wife got me a front windshield cover that opens like an umbrella, I forgot to take the camera down so it was cooked. The inside cam worked, the forward camera blanked out
I have a Vantru dash cam. I do not recommend them at all. Get a Viofo instead.
They don't do well in hot climates and in the summer here it gets over 100 f. So one day the camera just died. I started a claim and they made me make all these videos trying to get it to work. Eventually they determined it needed to be replaced and sent a new one after they recieved the dead one. The replacement didn't work either. So I had to do the entire process again. Luckily the third camera was the charm. Now I take my camera with me inside so it doesn't bake in the heat.
There are a few bigger brands, tho you never heard of them probably. I have 2 vantru cameras in 2 cars. About $165 each. Work fine. 2 camera install for each ( front and back) get a memory card ( a heavy duty or their suggested one) This particular brand has a “capacitor battery” instead of standard battery… resists in-car heat better than a battery. They’re a good idea… my daughter was in an accident, … other I lady ran a stop sign, and luckily it was caught on a home security camera. Made it a slam dunk case… swore from that moment to put a camera in every car.
Vantru and Blackvue are highly rated. I have one in one one of my cars but not the other.
I have a Vantru in the semi that I’ve had since late 2020, it records 24/7/365, I just replaced the memory card, but it works perfectly.
Actually, I bought this in 2021, it’s forward facing only, it has NV, they don’t list it anymore
I like my vantru but idk about bifl
