Based on 1 year's data from Feb 25, 2026 How it works
Mine is N4S. The 3-channel cams really help when I drive through crowded roads.
I’ve got the vantrue n4s. Not just front and rear but also a cabin cam, and all three look super clear. Definitely gives me extra peace of mind when driving.
Vantrue NS4 is excellent...have that on my son's car. Four cameras, one on windshield recording forward and into cabin, another on rear window records backwards and into rear cabin. All four combined you get near 360deg coverage. Hardwired so it's on 24/7.....detects motion if parked and begins recording from all 4 angles .
https://a.co/d/ctqGseM this is what I use. It was suuuuuuuuuper easy to install. Power comes from your accessory outlet. Wire goes to the front facing camera that attaches via glue like a hands free cell phone holder. Wire goes from front camera to back camera that also applies via glue. The only tricky part is hiding the wire. You can tuck it between the ceiling upholstery or just redneck it double-sided tape. You'll need a fast read write memory card for it. Reformat the card every month from the camera options so the memory doesn't turn corrupt from constantly writing. The camera can be detached from the mount and I think hooked up to a pc to view data or you can put it on wifi mode and view them on your phone.
Previously bought a vantrue 4s or something (returned it after) , spoke to a bunch of installers, they told me if I need parking mode, and drive a bimmer, then go with a Thinkware. Drains very little battery (I had set it max 6 hours recording, I power it off in the garage). Records everything, parking motion, going over a speed bump and closing the door automatically locks footage, etc. medium sensitivity setting is very sensitive Don't forget to get a high endurance or max endurance micro SD card, Sandisk or Samsung. Best thing is no battery error messages from the nav screen. (or get an external battery pack to record a lot longer--super pricey though)
I like my Vantrue nexus 4S
Clarity is my top priority. My vantrue n4ps has solid night vision, and it once caught a plate in a parking garage after someone scraped my car, which made finding them easy.
I park in busy lots all the time, so I totally get your worries. I use the Vantrue N4PS, and its parking mode works great. It kicks in fast when something happens, really handy
I'm using the vantrue n4ps right now. The rear camera is clear, and it actually has three cameras in total, covering the whole car.
I have the Vantrue N4 Pro in my Tacoma and an N4 (non Pro) in my wife's 2025 Nissan Leaf. The Pro has wifi capabilities in which you can access the footage via the app. The whole setup is pretty easy, and I wired both vehicles using The Dongar adapters that connect at the rear view mirror (most newish cars have power of some sort in the mirror). YouTube was a good resource for the truck, but hardly nothing for the Leaf, so I had to put on the ol thinking cap. No need to do a hard wire if you don't want to, and it looks clean with no wires hanging. The Dongar usually runs about $30, just make sure you know what pin type you need. Even running the wires under the overhead liner for the rear camera is super easy.
Not worth it. Get a high end 4k dash cam. I have a 3 channel dash cam (vantrue n4, 3 channel) that was $350-400 NEW. Put in the time and labor to hardwire it ($90) and you have something WAY less expensive than the dealership charge. F that. Buy aftermarket and get what you need, a 3 channel dash cam. Saved my buttore than once.
Any dashcam that you can afford. I bought my van true n4 3 channel dash cam when it was the newest. Worth the money. Got my dad one as well. It's worth getting something to protect yourself. Just buy the best you can and upgrade later.
I got a “Vantrue N4”. It was around $180 when I bought it two years ago. Super easy to install myself, even to hard wire into the car wasn’t difficult although you can just plug it into your cig lighter port if you prefer. The quality of the video is incredible. I haven’t needed to use it for insurance purposes yet but I have caught a bunch of great footage of moronic drivers lol
I've got a Vantrue N4 3 channel. So I ran the back cabling under the headliner and the front cable runs down the right side a Pilar, through the glove box and then down into the lower unit tray under the climate controls. It's very sleek and apart from the couple wires that come out of the dash cam unit, you can't see them. Assuming the unit wires are not crazy thick, you can pull back the trim enough to squeeze the wire in without pulling anything off.
So I'll be completely honest with you, we had some roof work done, and the body shop did it for us. Prior to, I did just tuck it between the headliner and the trim pieces and you couldn't tell other than around the B pillar. Also, this https://youtu.be/vIRIqoVUxSI?feature=shared
I've got a Vantrue 3 channel and it's been good for the year I've owned it. Only pitfall with my model is I need to unplug/remove the SD card to backup the footage. Plus models seem to have wifi capability.
