Mine is N4S. The 3-channel cams really help when I drive through crowded roads.

I’ve got the vantrue n4s. Not just front and rear but also a cabin cam, and all three look super clear. Definitely gives me extra peace of mind when driving.

https://a.co/d/ctqGseM this is what I use. It was suuuuuuuuuper easy to install. Power comes from your accessory outlet. Wire goes to the front facing camera that attaches via glue like a hands free cell phone holder. Wire goes from front camera to back camera that also applies via glue. The only tricky part is hiding the wire. You can tuck it between the ceiling upholstery or just redneck it double-sided tape. You'll need a fast read write memory card for it. Reformat the card every month from the camera options so the memory doesn't turn corrupt from constantly writing. The camera can be detached from the mount and I think hooked up to a pc to view data or you can put it on wifi mode and view them on your phone.

Clarity is my top priority. My vantrue n4ps has solid night vision, and it once caught a plate in a parking garage after someone scraped my car, which made finding them easy.

I have the Vantrue N4 Pro in my Tacoma and an N4 (non Pro) in my wife's 2025 Nissan Leaf. The Pro has wifi capabilities in which you can access the footage via the app. The whole setup is pretty easy, and I wired both vehicles using The Dongar adapters that connect at the rear view mirror (most newish cars have power of some sort in the mirror). YouTube was a good resource for the truck, but hardly nothing for the Leaf, so I had to put on the ol thinking cap. No need to do a hard wire if you don't want to, and it looks clean with no wires hanging. The Dongar usually runs about $30, just make sure you know what pin type you need. Even running the wires under the overhead liner for the rear camera is super easy.

Not worth it. Get a high end 4k dash cam. I have a 3 channel dash cam (vantrue n4, 3 channel) that was $350-400 NEW. Put in the time and labor to hardwire it ($90) and you have something WAY less expensive than the dealership charge. F that. Buy aftermarket and get what you need, a 3 channel dash cam. Saved my buttore than once.

I have the vantrue n4 with gps. Bought the dongle so I wired it into my fuse box. All wires hidden. Records when people wall up to the car. Has a forward facing/inward facing and a usb ran to the rear for the 3rd camera.

Yup I just tucked it up in there. Power cord on one end that goes to the dashcam and a fuse dongle on the other that plugs directly into the fuse box. Yup it's a good thing to have.

My Vantrue N4 probably took 5 minutes to read the instructions and connect up the hardwire kit, then 10 minutes to carefully route the wire from the top of the windshield along the roof liner, then a-pillar and down into the fuse box under my steering wheel. I was shocked at how easy it was to tuck the cables.

I got a “Vantrue N4”. It was around $180 when I bought it two years ago. Super easy to install myself, even to hard wire into the car wasn’t difficult although you can just plug it into your cig lighter port if you prefer. The quality of the video is incredible. I haven’t needed to use it for insurance purposes yet but I have caught a bunch of great footage of moronic drivers lol

Phoenix here… I got a good deal on a Vantrue N4 so I went with it. So far, so good after a few months. They sell a heavy duty adhesive based mount for like $6 if the suction cup mount fails. The main selling point for me was that it uses a capacitor instead of a battery. That is supposed to be crucial for high heat areas. There are other models that have capacitors so that is where I would start the search.

I’m in Phoenix and have a VanTrue N4. I’ve only had it a few months so I haven’t been able to torture it yet but the main reason I got it (besides that I got a really good deal on it lol) was because it doesn’t have a battery but uses a capacitor instead. A model with a capacitor is a must for extreme heat from what I’ve read.

Hijacking this comment so I don't have to make yet another dash cam post. Just bought the Vantrue N4. It comes with a 20ft cable for the rear cam. Am I good with that, or do I need to grab a 30ft?

I have had the Vantrue N4 for 3+ years now and it’s been great. I would go with the N4 Pro nowadays though because it offers wireless connectivity on top of the SD card. The other brand I’d consider is Viofo. When I was looking I weighed how many cameras (channels) it had and at what resolution in each mode. I went with 3 cameras. I also looked at the sensors (many are the same) and their angles. G-shock sensor was a must and thus it needed to be hard wired (which is relatively easy). I also wanted an SD card over a cellular connection, ideally I’d rather have both, but nowadays I would look more at one that has both the SD card and WiFi connectivity.

Asking for recs in subs will be largely anecdotal, I suggest you use https://redditrecs.com/dash-cam/ to make your decision. I had Vantrue N4 (#7 on list) and while it was great when it worked, it did indeed brick itself after 2 years of use, and it’s a known problem. I’m now using VIOFO (#2 on list) and I like it so far, and I love the fact that I can pull footage off the SD card straight to my phone instead of having to insert the SD card in the PC an extracting it. I also purchased Dongar Dashcam Power Adapter, which lets your power your dashcam via your rear view mirror without having to route USB cables everywhere. Only cable that’s really visible is the rear camera thats stuck on my back window.

I use the Vantrue N4 with a Dongar adapter connected to the Homelink port on my CX-30 TPP. Previously, I had it connected to the USB port in the armrest, but the camera would stay on even after the car was turned off, which will drain the battery over time.

I have the VanTrue dash cam , 3 channel, also bought the OBD PLUG IN FOR $29.99 and I love everything about it. Also purchased the 512 gig micro chip so I don’t have to reformat so often. I would highly recommend! Your car is such a huge investment and the insurance keeps going up , so I want to make sure you have evidence of the acc is not your fault.

Most dashcams with “GPS” feature show speed. [Vantrue has some good 2 channel and 3 channel cams](https://www.reddit.com/r/dashcams/s/65SdNGK6Jc) tried and tested. Same with VIOFO, Garmin, and blackvue. Stay away from Pruveeo.

Vantrue or VIOFO. They both use the Sony Starvis image sensor and have great quality. The cameras are pretty set and forget if you opt for the hardwire kit. It will turn on and off with the car and start recording as soon as it starts up. The included power adapter does the same thing if your power port in your car turns off with the ignition.

I have a vantrue that captures front and cabin. I got it when i was driving my Crosstrek and could see my dogs in the back and it could see out the rear window. I really didn’t want to wire a rear one, not as straight forward as the windshield. Anyway, it’s 2k front and rear or 4k front only and has captured a lot of cool shit. Accidents, wildlife trying to commit suicide and it’s kinda fun to check footage after some spirited driving. I got my daughter the newer model that connects via WiFi and she loves it.

Front/rear facing Van True dash cam is what I used driving Uber on our ‘21 Sienna. Added one lookin out the back after being tailgated by a Peterbilt on I-80 in Pennsylvania. All I could see was chrome in the rear view mirror at 75mph. Easy enough to install and hide power supply cables. (Picture resolution roughly the equivalent of an iPhone 11)
