Vantrue - S1 Pro Max AI Dash Cam

Tbh, both the front and rear cameras of my vantrue S1PM capture clear footage, which has been helpful when I needed accident evidence.

I use the vantrue s1pm right now. Front and rear cams cover all I really need, and the footage is clear enough to catch plates without any problem.

I just picked up the Vantrue S1 Pro Max and it has all that AI monitoring. So far it’s been great. It caught me nodding off a few times and the alert immediately jolted me awake.

The dashcam is tricky in the CX-30 because all of the accessory fuses and connections are in the engine compartment. Everything in the cabin runs straight to the battery (including the USB ports, unless that changed for 2025). I deal with this by setting my dashcam to go into a low power parking mode where it only wakes up if the car is hit. (Since my car is in my garage, that is unlikely.) That sleep mode is deep enough that it hasn't affected the battery - though it might if your car sits undriven for many weeks at a time. I ended up getting my power from the OBD2 port under the driver's side dash. It is the computer port used for diagnosing the car, but it is only used when the car is being serviced. It is much easier than trying to tap a wire or fuse. Most of the big name dashcam manufacturers make a OBD2 wiring kit as an accessory - but make sure they have one before you choose a particular model. Here are some good choices that I considered. (These are all 2 camera models because you are far more likely to be rear ended than for you to hit something in the front.) I’ve been using the Vantrue S1 Pro Max recently. It’s a front and rear setup and doesn’t take much space. The audio recording turns on automatically, which is nice for daily drives.

It’s clear. It records in 4K, and the night footage looks solid thanks to the infrared assist. You can still see road signs and plates clearly.

I’ve got a 2-channel Vantrue S1 Pro Max. I usually don’t drive long stretches and it’s more than enough. Both cameras are really clear.

Love the vantrue s1 pro. It’s about $150, but it’s the best at clarity and has been tested by several online reviewers.

Ran it through the headliner -> through the weather stripping -> behind the glovebox -> into the power outlet inside the center console. The rear camera is the same, but after routing it through the weather stripping I routed it underneath the plastic on the floor.

I bought the Vantrue S1 pro. It has parking mode capability, but I have not hooked it up yet.

I just got a Vantrue N5. Love it. Great quality. But if that's too expensive. The Vantrue S1 pro is also pretty good

25 Forester cameras are tight up against the windshield. I suspect they will have less potential issues than earlier versions. I'll be installing a Vantrue s1 pro in my wifes this weekend, and plan to place it on the right hand side of the rear view mirror, and otherwise follow the same install I did on my Impreza. In my Impreza, I dropped the headliner (which is a lot of work... all door weatherstripping, seat belts, pillar plastics, some other door trims... theres a lot), ran the wiring for the rear camera through the tube in the hatch and above headliner on the "top-side" of the curtain airbags with other wiring. Brought it behind the eyesight module and with the mirror wiring. From base of the front camera back up into the headliner, up around to the left side a pillar down to fuse panel. It was a solid 6 hours of work, but I've had no issues with it interfering with my older eyesight system.

I have a Vantrue Pro Dual hardwired in with the GPS mount and I love it. Warning with the 24 the fuse panel is buried passenger side behind the right side panel. You have to remove a few pieces of trim and the body clips are cheaply made as usual. Use removal tools and be careful. The next issue is the fuse panel is very small, not labeled and sealed water tight so you have to cut yourself a small path for the leads. Wires are completely hidden and the playback ia high def, and tracks my location / speed. You get what you pay for so remember that if you go cheap. With a big memory card this thing holds a ton of data. Has a switch to power down if its in park mode and the battery drops below a certain voltage. I bought one after I got hit by a car on my Harley in a hit and run, and then I ran accidents here in my area and found that a large majority are hit and run. Ive also had someone try to lie when I was T boned years and years ago.

VANTRUE front and rear cams have been lasting and doing its job super well in my ranger in texas heat! they got a kit where you can run it into the fuse box too and it will record when truck is off if the gyro gets set off i believe - cameras paid for themselves when a driver did a little damage and just gave me cash to not do any claim lmao

Got the Vantrue pro s.. front, cabin and rear, I liked it because it has “sentry mode” so even if I am not in the car, it will record at low frame rate. Cons.. if you are using apple car play, you can’t connect to it because car play uses WiFi, and Vantrue uses WiFi as well, so you’ll need to disconnect..

I have a 2 channel Vantrue I’ve been using for about a month now. No issues and so far it’s done what it’s suppose to. Very easy to use.

Vantrue or VIOFO. They both use the Sony Starvis image sensor and have great quality. The cameras are pretty set and forget if you opt for the hardwire kit. It will turn on and off with the car and start recording as soon as it starts up. The included power adapter does the same thing if your power port in your car turns off with the ignition.

I have an older Vantrue with the GPS base, records forwards, in cabin and rear, and can select which configuration you'd like. Zero complaints over 4 years.

I have a vantrue that captures front and cabin. I got it when i was driving my Crosstrek and could see my dogs in the back and it could see out the rear window. I really didn’t want to wire a rear one, not as straight forward as the windshield. Anyway, it’s 2k front and rear or 4k front only and has captured a lot of cool shit. Accidents, wildlife trying to commit suicide and it’s kinda fun to check footage after some spirited driving. I got my daughter the newer model that connects via WiFi and she loves it.

Front/rear facing Van True dash cam is what I used driving Uber on our ‘21 Sienna. Added one lookin out the back after being tailgated by a Peterbilt on I-80 in Pennsylvania. All I could see was chrome in the rear view mirror at 75mph. Easy enough to install and hide power supply cables. (Picture resolution roughly the equivalent of an iPhone 11)

Vantru and Blackvue are highly rated. I have one in one one of my cars but not the other.
