Vantrue - Sonnet 1 Pro (S1 Pro)

Love the vantrue s1 pro. It’s about $150, but it’s the best at clarity and has been tested by several online reviewers.

I've used both the AUTO-VOX B40-C  and Vantrue S1 4k. Both have worked well and no app needed.

6 years and 4 years in Arizona heat for my A119 V3 and A129 Pro Duo, respectively. Still going strong. OP, [this post convinced me to get a VanTrue S1 Pro](https://www.reddit.com/r/dashcams/comments/1luh6dy/vantrue_s1_pro_max_is_the_probably_the_nicest_cam/), which is a dual 4k system. Only had it for about 4 months but I will say the app is way better than any other dashcam I’ve used.

Ran it through the headliner -> through the weather stripping -> behind the glovebox -> into the power outlet inside the center console. The rear camera is the same, but after routing it through the weather stripping I routed it underneath the plastic on the floor.

I bought the Vantrue S1 pro. It has parking mode capability, but I have not hooked it up yet.

The same with mine. I got one because it has a 4K camera, which clearly records everything, saving me a lot of trouble. This makes me feel safer when driving.

My Vantru was 3 years old when the Texas sun took it out.

I think it may have been my fault. Wife got me a front windshield cover that opens like an umbrella, I forgot to take the camera down so it was cooked. The inside cam worked, the forward camera blanked out

Vantrue S1 pro is pretty nice

I've had the Vantrue S1 Pro on my S5 sportback for several months now. No complaints.

I'm new to dashcam as well, and the research has been pretty tedious. Have also been looking under $200. I tried the Vantrue S1 Pro, the video isn't great. Going to try the Viofo A229 Plus next and see if it's any better.

Actually the videos on the Vantrue S1 Pro turned out to be pretty good when I examined them from my PC compared to the phone. As for the comparison between Viofo 229 Plus, they were really close to be honest. Vantrue beat Viofo in these categories. 1. Daytime video quality - I examined frames pretty closely and Vantrue was slightly sharper consistently. 2. App connectivity - Vantrue connected to the phone on the first attempt almost every time, while Viofo took several attempts. 3. Video size - Vantrue's 1 min videos were significantly smaller in storage size compared to Viofo, even though they were higher resolution, hence you'd get much more footage for the same size SD card. 4. Windshield glare - Glare was significantly more in Viofo. I didn't use any filters in either of these. 5. Frame - Both have similar horizontal frame, but Vantrue has a larger vertical frame. 6. Built quality - Overall built quality seems better for Vantrue, however this might be subjective. But the Vantrue was much more strongly held by the mount compared to the Viofo, which makes me believe the Viofo is more susceptible to fall out in case of a crash. The night time video quality was strikingly similar.  I'm keeping the Vantrue.
