r/DashcamWhy the hate on Vantrue?

This camera X4S DUO was not that bad, but have glitches and all that, after 3 years I bought another one Vantrue E360 + LTE module, that was like $650 with installation (at Vantrue Authorized dealership at NY Auto City located in Queens) Camera from the beginning give me a hard time, didnt record all the time (I checked and everything was setup good), freezes all the time, and LTE module didn't work as it should (it is hardwire), I needed to turn it off and on every day, to be able to access it via LTE signal. Dealer replaced me the LTE Module, statting they have new updated batch with their own sim card that fixes everything. NOPE!!!! It even was worse, it was exactly as the old one except worked for 2 months (yes, I neededd too turn it off and on few times during this time) and LTE service they provided cost $9.99 for 2GB internet, after that you need to purchase additional 2GB internet. After 2 months everything stopped working, camera was freezing every time I was driving more than 30min. LTE module even after purchasing 2GB of internet, could not activated, contacted them and they say all should work, just turn it off and tunr it on back again, NOPE that didnt worked at all, just my extra trip to the car. I contacted Vantrue, they told me that, they cant do anything, as I purchased dascam from offline store, I explained them, that this is Vantrue Authorized dealer, they just try to tell me, contact them, they will solve the issue, NOPE they didn't, they told me to contact Vantrue with this. I emaild Vantrue again and they replay with that: I understand how you feel and want to help resolve the issue, but I’m sorry—since you made the purchase offline. This is our company policy, and we’re unable to make exceptions. Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you for your understanding. AND I JUST LOST IT, THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THERE PRODUCT, AVOID THEM AT ALL COST!!!

I have the Vantrue X4S Duo with gps. I placed it on the left directly behind my rear view mirror. The screen is half obscured, but I don’t need to see it while driving. I have it set to show the rear camera, sometimes it helps me see what’s behind me at night. I chose the left rather than the right, because there’s a sensor behind the mirror on the right for the homelink/smart dimming mirror. I’ve had no issues with the camera blocking the eyesight cameras. The cable for the rear camera is tucked in my headliner behind the airbags and it was about 6 feet too long for my Outback. Thankfully there’s a large empty gap in the headliner behind where middle seat seatbelt comes out of the ceiling. It works really well and I won’t be getting a new one until this one dies, but I wish I went with a bigger name brand. The gps module always puts me in London, even though I live in the US. The company can’t figure it out and they sent me replacement gps modules, but it never gets my location right. It’s annoying, but not a deal breaker.

I’m very happy with my viofo a329s. Also haven’t had any issues with my vantrue x4s which was half the price though. Both are hardwired now.

a dashcam is super practical especially with that kind of commute -i’d go for it. look for one that records front + rear and has loop recording, 1080p is fine unless you wanna splurge for 4k. vantrue or 70mai are both solid brands. car cushions are also great tbh, but i’d make it a little bundle -like a “commute survival kit.” throw in a travel mug, some snacks, a good phone mount, and a mini air freshener so his car always feels fresh. if you want something a bit more unique or personal to pair with it, check [presents.chat](http://presents.chat) \-it’s full of practical gift ideas like this that don’t feel generic.

yung sakin kasi basic lang na N2 na may Rear Camera tapos ako na din nag install, nabili ko lang din sa Shopee mall, though nakikita ko may mga pwesto na sila sa mga malls like Trinoma or SM north, check mo if may malapit na inyo. its serves its purpose naman though may mga higher models you can check it out. For SD card, I checked and Shoppe ko lang sya din nabili , SanDisk Max Endurance for 1.1k, ito pa lang tumatagal sakin na SD Card funny ang dami ko pala nabiling sd card na tig 300, 200 sa shopee dahil laging nageeror mag recording

Front facing only is better than none. I have a two-channel Vantrue - front and inside cabin. I got it because I also do a rideshare. What I noticed is that the inside view also picks up (although rudimentary) on the sides of the car and a bit of the back of the car. As for screen as distraction - you can set it up so it will turn of after some time (mine does after 30 seconds). I also installed mine to the right of the mirror so it is barely in my view at all (I have Honda Accord)

I got Vantrue because I wanted front/inside combination and for some reason Viofo/Blackvue don't offer the exact setup like this. Usually it's only if you get 3 or 4 channel setup and it's reflected in the price. So far I'm happy with it (it's been a few months).

I have a 2 channel Vantrue I’ve been using for about a month now. No issues and so far it’s done what it’s suppose to. Very easy to use.

Most dashcams with “GPS” feature show speed. [Vantrue has some good 2 channel and 3 channel cams](https://www.reddit.com/r/dashcams/s/65SdNGK6Jc) tried and tested. Same with VIOFO, Garmin, and blackvue. Stay away from Pruveeo.

I think it may have been my fault. Wife got me a front windshield cover that opens like an umbrella, I forgot to take the camera down so it was cooked. The inside cam worked, the forward camera blanked out
