I have Viofo a119 Mini 2, it was the number one recommended item for budget cameras on the dashcams subreddit. It's great so far, captures plates well and easy to set up
I'd go at leaat $90 and get the A119 Mini 2. Used a couple of cheaper ones but couldn't rely on them, and that's the main thing you need in a dashcam. I'm certain there's cheaper okay ones, but I wouldn't be able to trust them personally.
Make sure you're frequently checking the videos from a cheaper one if you're going to cheap out on these.
I have had a VIOFO Dash Cam A119 Mini 2 for over 3 years now still going hasn't skipped a beat. It mounts to the windshield and comes with clear plastic film to stick it to.

I have a mini also as my first dash cam. I bought a viofo a119mini2 last month and love it. For the price and quality way better.
It has a small monitor and i like that it came with a static film especially if you have tint. Also easy to remove the unit since you can slide the dash cam from its mount.
I was gonna get a garmin but glad i did more research.
