Mine is not in that budget range but I've had the same Viofo dashcam (A119 Pro Duo) for almost 5 years now and it's been great! The A119 mini is only $85 but if $115 isn't too much I would get the A119 V3 because that one comes with a rear camera too. Mine had no problem handling 10°F or 115°F (outside temp) and it was so securely attached that I thought I was going to break my windshield trying to move it to my new car a few years ago. I don't expect it to last a lifetime but if it dies tomorrow I would buy another Viofo. I have no idea how their app is for video viewing/transfer though, I just pull the SD card if I need to save a video.
So pretty much all the dashcams on the market currently use the same image processor from china/taiwan so they sorta all have the same quality. I have a Viofo a119 Pro and it’s pretty decent, I have one in my 18 BRZ and my crosstrek.
I bought the VIOFO A119 PRO 2K in 2018 - still going strong.
I’ve had my a119 Pro since 2018 in 3 different vehicles. It’s in a F-150 now. Hardwired into the fuse box with an adapter. The wire is tucked behind the A pillar and the headliner molding. The camera is mounted on the window on the right side of the mirror. I wouldn’t mind upgrading, but the only thing that my viofo doesn’t have is a reverse camera. Otherwise it’s still working fine.
Yes, but I’d recommend a dashcam with higher resolution than 1080p. Preferably 2.5K* or 4K. I like Viofo.
Yes, I installed the dongar power adapter to rear view mirrors, it provides a USB power connection to power a lot of different dashcams. I got a simple VIOFO A119 without wifi and like it.
Many like the fitcam but I got the dongar rear view mirrow power adapter which provides USB power to many dashcam types. I personally like VIOFOs simple A119 non wifi unit with the antiglare lense, its a great camera and doesnt have an internal battery (just a capacitor) they are known to last a very long time. The Ford Lightning specific mudguards for front and rear are great and look good.
1. I got a DDDPAI Z60 pro on my BYD but regret it because 4K is overkill for a dashcam and the software features are just not that well designed. The 1440p Viofo I have on my Civic is way better in terms of usability and features. Both use a Sony starvis sensor so excellent low light quality. 2.Heather Dashcam and Car accessories (Facebook) - I think they have a shop in Marikina but they did a homeservice install for mine. What's cool about them is that they accept installation of dashcams even if you bought it from somewhere else like shopee. Their technician knew his stuff, I asked him a bunch of questions (since I have experience installing dashcams myself). Paid only ₱900 for a hardwire installation via OBD kit, and gave the guy a tip because I could tell he's an expert and did everything with care exactly the way I would install my own dashcam.
In a miata, you could be probably get away with the “uber” Viofo camera that aims straight back from the main unit (in lieu of a rear camera). But that’s if you don’t tuck it behind the mirror, which we usually try to do in most of our installations.
