It's the a119s. I don't have it hardwired but instead connect it to my cigarette lighter.

Same question here for u/SafeDriveSolutions. I have a pair of Viofo A119S: one front and one rear. Is it worth upgrading to A329? Side question 1: why get Viofo 2ch or 3ch? If you have to route a cable to the rear anyways, then might as well just get another dedicated 1ch camera for maximum quality, no? Side question 2: if I did choose to upgrade from A119S to A329, then would I be able to keep the same mounting bracket or do I have to remove my current one? Love your Youtube channel and blog btw.

I have had viofo A119s in all my families cars sonce 2021 and none have failed so far. They need a wiresplice (get a fuse kit) and sd card too.

We use the regular VIOFO A119s and they're awesome, especially for the price! They work great (front and back) and no issues with eyesight.

Viofo A119. Get the one with the GPS because it has a slightly different mount. The gps mount allows you to unhook the cam easily without having to unplug it if you want to hide it in a glove box. This camera uses a capacitor to hold a charge to finish recording video when you turn your car off. Lots of cameras use batteries for this which as you know are horrendous when left in the sun. The Viofo is also amazing at night time. $89 on Amazon. I have them in both my cars and have for years. A few friends have it, my in laws, and my parents. Not a single issue with any of them. I do use a sunscreen on my windshield so I remove the cam when I park though. But it’s been in the sun for years without problems. It comes with a long USB cable or you can buy a hardwire kit which is super easy to hardwire if you’re not afraid of some DYI.

Yes, although I would go for any Viofo with the Sony Starvis sensor.

There is a neat community and [recommendations thread on /r/dashcams](https://www.reddit.com/r/dashcams/comments/1iube1b/dashcam_recommendations_on_reddit/). Helped me get my A119 which was around $90 when I got it on sale.

Same, but I upgraded to the Mini 2. Better night images. But the A119 is now my back view camera.

I’ve also had really good luck with the A119 and A129 in the Arizona heat for the last few years. Although most capacitor dashcams should be able to handle heat. Here are all the [operating temps for different cameras. ](https://www.reddit.com/r/dashcams/s/8bg7mGCAsL) Hope that’s helpful

My A119 has six years on it in the hot Arizona sun. Only recently had a change the SD card. Camera still works perfect. I’d say go with either the A119 mini or the A229 plus. Both have the Starvis 2 sensor which really helps with night time. [The A119 Mini 2 is cheaper](https://www.amazon.com/VIOFO-STARVIS-Control-Parking-Supercapacitor/dp/B0C5MVB7NX?crid=2Y2ELQBTX901F&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.5nyPp72DnMI_ODE51ynTBjocCh5dIwi3KchnQREBKgUJP-ZLqBgCZzPlt53DOLk-60MJ-4WUMLNu8Rtn8Ap3AQuDawNvEUmlQWvEx-tv5DWgde1IJwTokeceWbv9aHWF3oGkVbnGoBVdFAZXoFUl8_HACYVQO3M3zQt8nfpyENW5tO7IC-_1Ahyo-mfNrP7bvDCKgBaSK-5vFjoXRdw82hB_-cuuFYA5EXKwOosDW6o.ZGFZD2Z7S5EEYzUktjWbe8S03pRz_2zT7Pj6z41Bj2U&dib_tag=se&keywords=a119%2Bv3&qid=1716994238&sprefix=a119%2Bv%2Caps%2C263&sr=8-5&th=1&linkCode=ll1&tag=lfttscl-dbc-20&linkId=0cc083c017bca6aaecc9d50227b55d37&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl) and 2k resolution...which can marginally do better image quality. But it’s only a front cam. It’ll be easier to install though. If you’re looking for a dual cam then, [the A229 Plus is the way to go](https://www.amazon.com/VIOFO-A229-Plus-STARVIS-Ultra-Precise/dp/B0CKX14L34?crid=ODOCM20VAXM7&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.zPIWU7n-bytu1xxkTnuc2EyTGeeEdaXMTGYIwRIO215reF0iK25fC6AbS9LG-cr_xKgOQ5Z51A7yqwuTHFHAE5P_rShDvDQ_pp98f8-O5WiFIMPcxo7XQXkbN6NM-OXoFpCpsuvQt1xpKXT2MIn6yt6WoWsW0W9GK32xr-C1pvBXlLkUeNbMwOSmOfl8U_PzojCab3mjRYKUpaiP1gntsg3MLIRZJqojR-0t31IceLk.N_m—R9zWtiv3zwSf8q6q18csSdtThNsIctSbvBM-ds&dib_tag=se&keywords=VIOFO+A229+Plus+Dash+Cam+Front+and+Rear%2C+Dual+STARVIS+2+Sensors%2C&qid=1730008188&sprefix=viofo+a229+plus+dash+cam+front+and+rear%2C+dual+starvis+2+sensors%2C%2Caps%2C169&sr=8-3&linkCode=ll1&tag=lfttscl-dbc-20&linkId=22d987094893adf529b9c0e958278795&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl). Like I said, it has the same sensor so night time quality is the same. It’s 1440p on the front and 1440p on the rear cam...still very respectable. So if you want a front and rear cam, I’d go with that. Just get [a max endurance memory card](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B084CJ9T2R/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_WFFHDWCRNAPCVZJ2PGSF?linkCode=ml1&tag=lfttscl-dbc-20) and you’ll be good to go.

Did you find a better option? In PHX and used to have the old A119 but it also died from the heat in less than a year was hoping they had improved since then.

The best cameras are the Viofos but the Fitcam is the easiest to install cleanly and looks OEM so it really depends on what you're after.

I've owned several Viofos and I don't trust them anymore with their built in capacitors that died. I now have 70mai brand. Have the model A800S

I've ran several viofos with no problems. Currently run a A119 V3. No problem easy install. Been running them for years. Usually if something is wrong, its the sd card.
