I prefer the latest VIOFO dash cams. And if the latest model is outside your budget look at the 2k or 1080p versions.

old.reddit.com/r/dashcams is a good place to start, their sidebar / FAQ is good. It seems you need to spend ~~£150 on a good dash cam that can read number plates. I bought the dual viofo a129, seems like rlly good quality... Haven't had to use it yet, but on the things I do watch back ,quality is great. Seems like a common reccomendation to purchase.

Get a dual channel one like the Viofo a129 so you record the front and back view.

I bought the Viofo A329s 3 channel. Been using an A129 2 channel in another vehicle for years without issue. The main reason for using Viofo is I just power the cam with a powerbank (same you would use for a mobile phone) and let it run 24/7.

I did exactly this, my BMW F36 had real issues with DAB interference when I ran the cable fun the front cam. I have a Viofo A339 front and a Viofo A129 rear. It works just fine for me.

I've had Viofo 129 for about 6 years now and it's still running great

I did a lot of research and ended up going for the Viofo A129 front and back. Been very pleased with the quality! I can probably take a few videos off if you want to see

No trouble at all! I keep a USB-C memory card reader in the car at all times to make it easy to view and download videos on the go. Not sure if I can find a night video but I'll have a look, if not I can probably take it out for a quick run round the block for you.  I don't recall looking into those, I watched an awful lot of reviews and it narrowed it down pretty quick to the Viofo for what I wanted personally - front and back, good video quality, but optional hardwiring.

+1 for Viofo a129 front & rear. Install was fairly easy. Would recommend a set of trim tools to get behind the a pillar air bag and down the side trim to the rear. Camera has been reliable, no complaints
