Top-tier video, reliable evidence, but app struggles.

I prefer the latest VIOFO dash cams. And if the latest model is outside your budget look at the 2k or 1080p versions.
old.reddit.com/r/dashcams is a good place to start, their sidebar / FAQ is good. It seems you need to spend ~~£150 on a good dash cam that can read number plates. I bought the dual viofo a129, seems like rlly good quality... Haven't had to use it yet, but on the things I do watch back ,quality is great. Seems like a common reccomendation to purchase.
Get a dual channel one like the Viofo a129 so you record the front and back view.
I did the viofo a129 dual camera hard wired. It was easy to install, took about an hour. I recommend. See my last post for a snip I caught last week with it. It also has a rear cam
I bought the Viofo A329s 3 channel. Been using an A129 2 channel in another vehicle for years without issue. The main reason for using Viofo is I just power the cam with a powerbank (same you would use for a mobile phone) and let it run 24/7.
I did exactly this, my BMW F36 had real issues with DAB interference when I ran the cable fun the front cam. I have a Viofo A339 front and a Viofo A129 rear. It works just fine for me.
