Could definitely be model specific. I have an A139 Pro 2-channel from 2023.
Still working on adding a feature filter to my site, but here’s all the no-screen front + rear options I carry. [DR590X](https://hachielectronics.com/products/blackvue-dr590x-plus) [DR970X](https://hachielectronics.com/products/blackvue-dr970x-plus-1ch-2ch) [DR970X-Box](https://hachielectronics.com/products/blackvue-dr970x-box-plus-2ch) [Q200](https://hachielectronics.com/products/thinkware-q200-1ch-2ch) [U3000](https://hachielectronics.com/products/thinkware-u3000-1ch-2ch) Viofo’s screenless front + rear camera (the 139 series) was discontinued a while back so they’re not listed anymore but I still have a couple A139 Pro 2CHs laying around. If you want one of those let me know. And yeah, as others have said, you can disable the screen on the other Viofos. Their form factor allows them to tuck nicely behind the rearview mirror so I would consider their other options too.
Two of my vehicles have the A139 Pro Front/Rear from 2023. And my newest car has the A229 Pro front/rear. Can’t recommend Viofo with the Starvis 2 sensor enough to people.
I have the Viofo A139 Pro Duo, and I really like it. Good pictures, smooth videos. I had a Rove R2-4k (front only) on my car that recently got totaled. It worked well through the wreck, kept the footage, etc. I had it for 5 years, no issues. There is a 2-channel option, also. If you haven't yet, I would really recommend going to r/Dashcam. They'll have different guides, and possibly more options. You can also look at dashcam video quality there and in some other subs (r/IdiotsInCars) is a fun one to see different camera quality. And please, for the love of all things shiny, get a 2-channel dash cam for your car, too. It's worth the cost.
I have this Viofo in all our vehicles, including my Ridgeline. It’s not as bulky or prominent, as it doesn’t have a screen. Since all our vehicles have backup cams natively, I opted for the non-screen version. It just records onto the SD card. Works for my purposes, mainly insurance fraud, just like your daughter is suggesting. VIOFO 4K HDR Dash Cam Front and Rear A139 Pro 2CH, STARVIS 2 IMX678 Sensor, Superb Night Vision, Ultra HD 4K + 1080P Dashcam for Car, 5GHz WiFi GPS, 24H Parking Mode (A139PRO 2CH) https://a.co/d/0gsByPZR
I mounted it in front of the rearview mirror, to the passenger side, as high as possible. From the driver’s seat, the mirror hides it from my view so I don’t see it. I ran the wires up and into the headliner, through the mirror/electronics black housing, continued in the headliner towards and down the driver’s side A pillar, and down to the fusebox by the feat. I bought the power kit and hardwired it into the fusebox. I ran the rearview camera the same way (and at the same time), but instead of down the A pillar I ran it in the door frame/headliner towards the back, hit the back driver side door frame and headliner, then out the headliner and down on the driver’s side rear glass, and mounted it as close to the sliding glass window as possible on the driver’s side rear glass. So it all looks very clean. The most wire you see is probably 6in coming down the rear glass for the rear cam.
[viofo A229 pro](https://www.blackboxmycar.com/products/viofo-a229-pro-tele-3ch-4k-2k-telephoto-4x-optical-zoom-1080p-dash-cam) you get 4k 30FPS front, a 2k 30Fps tele long distance front camera, and a 1080P 30FPS rear. This allows you to get really good footage in the front and with a telly lens, it allows you to have more time where you can capture a quality image of the license plate, even as they speed away. And since generally, the rear cars are coming at you the lower 1080 P is fine because they’re coming closer and closer. On ale 309, which leaves you some money for a sandisk MAX endurance micro SD 256GB card. Only use this card normal SD cards are not meant for the rights and rewrite cycles of dash camera sees.. these have a lifetime warranty specifically for dash camera and security camera usage. If you have quality ceramic window tint, you don’t need a CPL filter. If you have no window tint or it’s cheaper stuff then this is basically a polarized lens, which makes the image way more clear in sunlight. You can plug it into your cigarette lighter, or you can hardwire it in and activate the parking mode. So if it gets hit while you’re away, the G force sensor will record what happens in a set interval before and after detection. This is my viofo A139 pro duo https://www.reddit.com/r/ConvenientCop/s/hWlSYNXQnb at night time. Where the HDR it has comes in clutch
