I like the VIOFO A229 Plus-W 2CH 2K Front+2K Waterproof Rear Camera. The only pain is getting the rear camera routed.
I changed mine for a Viofo A229 plus (F+R) this year, and it's a big improvement over my last one (which was a NextBase). It's been a lot more reliable (not randomly restarting, no need to constantly format to fix errors), and the quality is really good. OP if you're not worried about price and go for a Viofo, definitely go for the Pro models as while the 1440p is adequate at the higher bitrate setting, it's not as crisp as some footage I've seen from the pros. That said, the A229 plus is still the best dash cam I've ever owned. Overall, the firmware is good, the 3 wire hardwire kit is excellent and the app is handy for getting single files off via WiFi, though it takes a minute or so for a 3 minute clip.
Viofo makes very good dash-cams available on Amzn, they’re highly ranked in reviews, not cheap units. I have three A229 2K dual cameras and A129 Pro 4K dual on a total of 4 cars. The A129 pro got stolen by tow truck driver when it was headed to the mechanic. If you’re DIY installing the rear camera can take a little bit of work threading the long cable, but lots of YouTube video step by steps. Viofo also has front-only A119 V3 cameras, those are easy to install you simply push the cable into the headliner and down the A pillar, around the back of the glove box to your 12V power source. There’s also a short power cable you can buy that tape power from the power home-link rear view mirror.
2k for a dashcam? Viofe A229 Plus Front and Rear is $350 + hardwire kit for $30. Get someone to install and wire it for you (make sure it goes behind airbags, etc) for a couple hundred or DIY it for free.

So I use a VIOFO A229+, I mean it has 2.4-inch screen and there a setting that can show Live Video Source: Front camera / Rear camera / Rear Overlaid / Front Overlaid. So it’s possible that you can look through a 2.4in screen and that you can look at to see behind you. But honestly it’s just too damn small. I would rather turn my head and look behind me. If your interested in a backup camera in a headunit, that has a 7in - 10in screen that would be more ideal.
After having the viofo 229plus 2k+2k I'd only recommend their 4k versions if you want to guarantee license plate capture
I recently bought a Viofo A229 Plus front + rear. Never owned a dashcam before. Honestly I'm pretty disappointed in the quality and the general usability of it. It seemed to be highly reccommended on driving subs, but I have nothing to compare it to. I've since set the birate to maximum and made sure HDR isn't on during the day, but yeah, the window for getting a legible numberplate seems to be vanishingly small - the files look way too compressed to me. Also needing to back out of the whole menu once turning wifi on in order for the wifi to actually turn on is daft.
Still using my original Viofo A119 and remain happy with it. Get at minimum the A229Plus Duo, thats what I would have if I was keeping a car (i’ll be moving on to mobility scooters this year)
