The 229 Pro 2CH (4K+2K) is just the camera I recommended without the cabin camera so would be the same recommendation. I didn't suggest the A229 Ultra as I thought is was too far above your budget, although it would be the better bet - The Ultra has the same sensor front and rear, so you'll get the benefit of a large sensor on the rear footage which will improve the footage gained (and increase the readability of licence plates) - if you can justify the slight increase in your budget, then I personally would go with the A229 Ultra if you really don't need the internal camera. You will still need the hardwire kit to take advantage of the parking mode and, in time, you should also consider getting the CPL filter cap for the rear camera and it will reduce glare on the camera lens. It's not necessary straight away, but soemthign you should consider in time. Another bonus with these cameras is Viofo also sell a bluetooth remote button that connects to the camera, the latest one has two buttons allowing you to turn the microphone and the wifi on/off remotely. it also allows you the ability to save footage instead of having to press the button on the camera - for me, this helped as I had a Citroen grand C4 Picasso which has a huge front windscreen out of reach of the drivers seat, so a bluetooth button made it so I could save pertinent footage when necessary without having to reach for the camera - if you have a similar car, then it maybe wise to invest in one yourself.
Get viofo or f77. Both have dual 4k with starvis 2. If you are thinking to get other sensor based 4k for rear it will be pointless as rear cam gets way higher glare frm hi beams at night that only a starvis 2 sensor can handle to show numberplates better. 2 cams mean two wires, two fuse points and getting footage will be a hassle. If there is any issue in rear cam you may not even realise soon as indicator lights wont be easily visible.
A229 ultra, 4k front and rear. A329 is pricier and gives you 60 frames per second but you don’t get 4k on the rear. I have tried both and personally prefer the higher resolution for the rear as it makes number plates easier to read
I have a VIOFO A229 Ultra, I’m having issue with it falling off since the 3M VHB sticker is a bit faded after a windshield change, so ordered a new GPS module, so hoping that helps it stay. It dos get overheated if you park in a hot spot, and the memory card constantly beeps until it’s cool, even with an Extreme SD card that should handle the heat. I got it hardwired at Best Buy for $99.99, I bought the dash cam separately and they installed it in like an hour.
I like my VIOFO A229 Ultra. It has an active view screen but it turns off which is what I prefer as I don’t want people to know I have it and I don’t want it to be distracting. It doesn’t send footage to your cell phone, it does have an SD card that can save footage and use the app to view the saves and the continuous recorded footage. Not wireless, but mine is hardwired into my fuse box to record 24/7, it’s $99.99 to install at Best Buy, took less than an hour. I would say to always hardwire as it’s the best way, and the hardwire kit has a protection feature so it doesn’t kill the battery. Also, I went with Ultra just so I could get the 4K rear camera.
Bought the Viofo A229 Ultra (4K front and rear) in November because it had good reviews, the quality is great, looking forward to seeing how it is in the summer. Paid $100 to get it installed at Best Buy, so if you don’t want wires everywhere, highly recommend that. I was out after an hour.
Viofo A229 ultra gives you front and rear 4k. I'm running the A129 pro duo which is 4k front and 1080p rear. It also has parking mode if you hardwire it so then it can record any incidents that might happen while your car is off (it will stop drawing power when your battery drops below a threshold as to not drain it)
https://youtu.be/uLjGazIxjEA?si=P7sXE79SCnT-mwsY I personally bought and installed the VIOFO A229 Ultra. Do not cheap out make sure the camera has STARVIS 2 I chose the A229 Ultra because both front and rear has starvis 2
