Based on 1 year's data from Feb 15, 2026 How it works
VIofo currently has the A119MiniPro that they just released. It's the small form factor, but 4K single cam only. Just introduced new firmware (but you have to manually install it , no OTA installs) that improves parking modes. Also, the A229 UItra was recently released. It has 3 cameras (front 4k, rear 4k, and internal 2k infrared wide angle). It has great specs (better than A329) except that it's usb 2.0 (slow transfer) and wifi 2.4/5 no Wifi6/USB3.0 No LTE or general connectivity except in the car. Great sales at Viofo
Viofo A229 Ultra. 4k front and rear. If you want a 3 camera setup (interior or front telephoto) A329S or A329T are the best on the market. I have the A329s with the interior camera and couldn't be happier.
Bought the Viofo A229 Ultra (4K front and rear) in November because it had good reviews, the quality is great, looking forward to seeing how it is in the summer. Paid $100 to get it installed at Best Buy, so if you don’t want wires everywhere, highly recommend that. I was out after an hour.
Viofo a229 4k front and rear and backup a129 pro front only in Octavia vrs.
A229 ultra, 4k front and rear. A329 is pricier and gives you 60 frames per second but you don’t get 4k on the rear. I have tried both and personally prefer the higher resolution for the rear as it makes number plates easier to read
Viofo A229 ultra gives you front and rear 4k. I'm running the A129 pro duo which is 4k front and 1080p rear. It also has parking mode if you hardwire it so then it can record any incidents that might happen while your car is off (it will stop drawing power when your battery drops below a threshold as to not drain it)
https://youtu.be/uLjGazIxjEA?si=P7sXE79SCnT-mwsY I personally bought and installed the VIOFO A229 Ultra. Do not cheap out make sure the camera has STARVIS 2 I chose the A229 Ultra because both front and rear has starvis 2
I have had the Viofo A229 Ultra for 3 years now and it handles GREAT in the summers.
Parking mode is not a security system, people buy a dashcam thinking it is a security system that keeps surveillance 24/7. Don't buy a dashcam with that expectation. You should use the cut out at the highest voltage, and I would recommend using a timer too for probably no more than 1hr. With that said, I have the 3ch A229 from Viofo. Has worked well on my CX-90.
It was pretty straightforward, I didn't remove the panels, I didn't want to break a bunch of clips. I did remove the drivers door lower trim piece and the panel where the fuse box is I believe, but may be confusing my other car. I just slipped the cables behind the plastics/headliner. I think I went high over the doors not low. I had probably 2' of extra cable that is just rolled up in the sidewall/headliner in the cargo area. It was too hot and humid, summer in Texas, so I didn't want to fuss with trying to fish the rear cable through the two existing weather proof looms for the wiring harnesses to the rear hatch. That would likely be the preferred way, but would be more difficult as there is limited room. You could use a long zip tie or small fish tape maybe for a cleaner more professional finish. I just cut a very small slit in the headliner near the middle. Big enough to clear the rubber weather stripping. Do not to cut the weather stripping! This allows for the wire to go from the headliner to the rear hatch. I have maybe 3" of cable exposed to allow the hatch to open fully and articulate without putting tension on the camera. I know some might frown on this, in that it could interfere with the airbags deploying, but I am confident the loose wire is no match for the power and strength of the airbags during deployment. The clips on the plastics covering the airbags are stronger.
Drivers side (left). The front camera is on the driver's side, next to the center sensor box (rear view mirror) area. The main body of the camera is on the window where the privacy dots are, but the camera lens is just below the dots for a clear unobstructed view. It keeps everything out of the way, and gives the camera the highest clearest view.
I just picked up the Viofo A229 3ch for under $250. 4k front, 2k rear, FHD interior
