I decent dashcam, that will work well at night is more than that, but IMO the biggest contribution as to whether it's visible or not is the desig of the camera. The likes of a Viofo A229, mounted higher up is quite hard to see, versus a model from the likes of Nextbase which side lower down off the mount. https://www.viofo.com/products/viofo-a329-1ch-front-4k-60fps-gps-wi-fi-6-dash-cam-hdr-with-sony-starvis-2-sensor-support-ssd-storage https://nextbase.com/dash-cams/
r/bayarea • Getting a Dash Cam? ->Kind of depends on your budget and what time of features you want. I got the Viofo A329, but it’s a brand new model so it’s more expensive. But you can check out the recommendations here. https://dashcamtalk.com
r/ToyotaSienna • Toyota integrated dash cam or after market? ->If you just want a good front dashcam, the Viofo A119 v3 will fit the bill. I put the A329 in because I wanted the better image quality and rear camera. Was worth the extra shekels. Buy once, cry once, if you can budget a bit more. Whatever you get, make sure you get a high or max endurance microSD card.
r/Crosstrek • Best crosstrek dash cam? ->Viofo A329 or A229 Pro, those are the only decent dashcams I know where you can get a half decent footage and legible license plates.
r/DubaiPetrolHeads • Best dash cam ->I use Viofo A129 on my cars. It’s top-rated for a reason - good price, 4K video recording, wifi connectivity, capacitor-powered (instead of batteries that bloat and degrade in heat), front and rear cameras. Newest model is now the A329.
r/CarsPH • what are your recommended dash cams??????????????? ->If you judge "best" by most integrated features and system from one manufacturer, I'd say it would be the BlackVue DR970X-2CH LTE PlusDR970X-2CH LTE Plus with their extended use battery pack and data plan. It has the new(ish) Starvis 2 4K sensor for its front camera, so is among the best in PQ and if you subscribe to a monthly BlackVue plan you can access the camera at all times. because it has its own cellular connection. [https://blackvue.com/product/dr970x-2ch-lte-plus-na/](https://blackvue.com/product/dr970x-2ch-lte-plus-na/) [https://blackvue.com/product/blackvue-ultra-battery-b-130a/](https://blackvue.com/product/blackvue-ultra-battery-b-130a/) [https://blackvue.com/sim-card/](https://blackvue.com/sim-card/) It's too pricey for my budget and has features that I don't require, so I personally chose a Viofo A229 Pro about 1 1/2 years ago. Today, I'd probably go for the Viofo A329.
r/dashcams • What is the best dash cam to buy if money isn’t an issue ? ->For sure A329 is better than A229 Plus. If you have the money go for it.
r/Dashcam • Best Dash Cam for 2024, Is it still Blackvue? ->I'm looking at replacements now and the A810 is one of my final contenders. I was planning to hardwire it, but I'm a little worried about it since their basic hardwire kit has shut off voltage options of only 11.6 or 12.0, both of which are too low. With all the 12v issues on the EV6 that makes me a little nervous. It also apparently only buffers 2 seconds of video in an event recording which is pretty short. The video samples online are really good though, firmware is published regularly and publicly (unlike fitcamX), and the price can't be beat (it's $139 right now). I think for me it's between that or the VIOFO A329. A329 is way more expensive, but has better rear cam quality and draws less power in parking mode (and hardwire kit has better voltage cutoff options). I ran A119v3 for years as front and back cameras with no problems but I sold them with the old car when I bought the EV6. Our secondary car has an A119S that's still working well too. The new A329 has some questionable reviews though so I may just go with the 70mai.
r/KiaEV6 • PSA: Avoid FitcamX ->I'm almost certainly gonna go with the A329. I just learned that the 70mai A810 uses a battery and not a capacitor. Batteries are terrible for dash cams due to how hot the inside of a car gets in the summer here. 70mai apparently has a new X800/Omni 4k that has a capacitor, but it's not obtainable anywhere at this time and I want a dash cam now.
r/KiaEV6 • PSA: Avoid FitcamX ->For the price, there’s much better out there. You can buy a VIOFO A329 for around the same price and that is a 4K camera with a Sony Starvis 2 sensor (the Toyota dash cam is only 1080p). Since the Sienna has a 12V plug pre-wired and hole already cut out in the headliner, running power to an aftermarket dash cam couldn’t be easier.
r/ToyotaSienna • Any feedback on the Toyota integrated Dash Cam? ->My A229 Pro handled the Houston heat just fine this past summer. Have upgraded to the A329, and am looking forward to seeing how it does next spring and summer.
r/Dashcam • Dash cam recommendations for Texas driving ->Now that the A329 is out, I'd recommend it over the A229 Plus or Pro. It's more expensive, but is an overall better camera. For me the killer feature is it can record to an external SSD. No more fumbling with those tiny cards; no more microSD file corruption.
r/dashcams • How long do dashcams actually last? ->If you believe the Wirecutter, go for a Viofo or a Miofive (budget pick; I tried one; it was junk). https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-dash-cam/ This recommendation was published before the A329 came out, or I believe they would recommend it. I’ve had both the A229 Pro and the A329; I find the latter to be a better dashcam, mostly for its SSD support.
r/Dashcam • The dash cam market is over saturated, so I have no idea where to start as far as brands. Suggestions? ->I was very happy with my A229 Pro, except for having to deal with those tiny (in two senses) microSD cards. That’s why I jumped to the A329 with SSD support. It rocks. Still a few bugs but nothing bad.
r/dashcams • Updated list of dashcams from Viofo A119 vs A129 Vs Mini2 vs A229 Pro and more ->I'm considering this because of the form factor, I like the idea of having both a digital; rear view mirror as well as an interactive touch screen right there to easily manage things is great,. But I also don't feel; great about their parking mode compared to say the Thinkware 3000 buffered parking mode. My priority is parking mode over all else, as I want to see what is happening to my car when I find a dent in the door or other damage. I don't like thinkware in other res\[pects but it definitely seems to have a superior buffered parking mode. So,. my focus has been mostly on that. I actually wrote to Wolfbox a few times asking them please consider adding a better buffered parking mode sentry unit, I doubt they will but I asked because I like everything else about it. I think I am going to get the Viofo A329 because it is really good in all areas, and I can set it up a little over kill with a 4 tb ssd, a 512 sd card, and a battery backup hardwired, so when I park it 8 or 10 hours a day it will remain in parking / sentry mode and not kill my battery or record over itself. I've got to look at thinkware once more to remind myself what was weak, I forget.
r/FJCruiser • Wolfbox G900 Pro Dash Cam ->None of these cameras had a Sony Starvis 2 sensor, yet if you pay a little extra, you can step up to the newer version of the Viofo A119, the A119 Mini2 which does, and which would beat the Viofo A119 V3 that won this test in the same way that the V3 beat most of the competition! Having stepped up to current generation Sony Starvis 2, you can then step up to the 4K version, which is another significant step, and then you get a bit stuck on image quality and going for a far more expensive Blackvue or Thinkware is currently a step down in image quality relative to the 4K Viofo A229 Pro, only reason you would take that step is to get cloud access to your parked car, but that is an expensive choice, both in cash and in license plate readability. Best image quality currently is the Viofo A329 series, which not only has Sony Starvis 2 sensors, but has also moved to the next generation of processors, which is bringing quite a few advantages.
r/Dashcam • Project Farm - Dash Cams comparison (great channel) ->FitcamX is nice because of the fit, but something like a Thinkware U3000 or Viofo a329 is going to capture better video. I am getting the A329. I don’t plan on doing any monitoring during parking, but it’s compatible with battery packs if you want that feature. It would probably be easy to run the wiring down the passenger A pillar and to the fuse box the secure the battery down there somewhere.
r/MachE • Dash Cam ->I got the same one it's good
r/CarsAustralia • What is everyone’s go to Dashcam in 2024 ->I put the one that came with what I ordered (had to pay extra) '...VIOFO Industrial Grade microSD Card, U3 A2 V30 High Speed Memory Card with Adapter, 64GB / 128GB / 256GB / 512GB Optional...' I only got the 128 mb because: IT SUPPORTS SSD's!. Havent installed one yet but I have several older SSD's that I will use for the task (I have installed the dash cam and hardwire kit, just havent determined best place for ssd
r/CarsAustralia • What is everyone’s go to Dashcam in 2024 ->The A810 Plus definitely has a supercap, and looks to be solid as anything. I do use the A329 in two channel mode but it has intermittent issues with my Kingston external SSD, Viofo has had to backtrack on its claims of compatibility with SSD enclosures - it's been a mess. A119 V3 I've still got one in the drawer that was my daily for a couple of years, it can't be beaten in the Australian heat here and for it's video quality. Vantrue has caught up a lot in terms of their app and image quality, I would go for E1 Pro which seems to be the pick for a cheap 4k single unit solution. The e360 is a bit out of an outlier as they're trying something new - they have had their doozies like the s1 pro which was quickly replaced by the N2X which was way way better. To be honest, it's a three way battle between Viofo 70mai and Vantrue now. Totally understand the convenience of the Wolfbox and the form factor , it definitely has it's use cases and I can't fault that in the slightest. Wolfbox seem to be getting their game together now which is good. I agree with you on the x800, it seems like that's what the issue is. Shame really but what can you do. To be honest the a810 plus seems to be the safer buy even if the cabin is a crappy 1080p only. YouTube reviewers don't mention these issues not a single one mentioned it for the x800 even though they would have the Dec and January batch units that had the issues.
r/Dashcam • Wolfbox G900 Pro vs...? ->Viofo. Class leading image quality. Class leading longevity. Only middling price. The 119 is an excellent camera. I’ve had several of them, and a couple of 129. There’s a 329 series now, which looks good, but I doubt its image quality scales with its price. That’s the downfall of almost all dash cams.
r/CarsAustralia • What dash cam would you recommend? ->I second this one. Have the Viofo a229 plus in my wife's car and it works great and provides excellent video. I picked up the A329 and will be installing that in my truck soon. Another thread pointed out that they have an external camera that you could mount to the back of your truck, the website says it works for the A229, but it appears the A329 has the same ports, so I would think it works for the A329 as well. I may pick it up and see one of these days, but I like the idea of the rear camera being able to look after my truck bed with the internal mounted rear camera.
r/f150 • Dash Cam recommendations ->Viofo is just releasing their A329 with 60 frames per second. I picked one up on a special offer with the two channel cam with 256GB micro SD and a polarize lens for $400 no tax no shipping. I have it and am waiting for the opportunity to get it installed.
r/leaf • Any recommendations on a dashcam? ->The A329 is great at being a dashcam. The video quality is incredible, and keeps on recording. A lot of the industry-first features just aren’t ready for prime time though. 4K 60 fps + 2K 30 fps is just too much data for a MicroSD, even one with 100 MB/s write speed. Mine regularly flashes “Slow Card” and drops to 4K 30 fps. I’m about to install an external SSD to get away from MicroSD. Then there’s the HDMI out. My head unit has an HDMI input, so I ran an HDMI cable in my car. EDID is super finicky with this thing, and I will occasionally have to drop to 4K 30fps just to get it to display picture rather than static. The HDMI out hates the picture-in-picture, so you have to set the display to front or rear only. Finally, there are some weird bugs. Like it won’t come out of parking mode properly, so I have to power it down each time for it to unfreeze. Also, it induces enough noise to reduce the range of my push-to-start to <12.” Still a great camera, just not quite ready for prime time.
r/Dashcam • Best dashcam 2025 ->The external SSD I installed a couple of days ago appears to have worked around this issue. I suspect that this is a combination of 4K 60fps overwhelming the microSD (in terms of write speed) and a bug that prevents recording from being manually stopped after the logic for the “slow card” error cuts the frame rate to 30 fps. The SSD prevents the “slow card” error altogether. I get the “slow card” error even while I’m driving, so I don’t think this issue is isolated to parking mode. Any chance you could link to the firmware on the official website? I’m sure you’re legit, but I’m not going to download firmware off a Google Drive link from a Reddit comment. I really think VIOFO needs to require an SSD to enable 4K 60fps and update the marketing info accordingly.
r/Dashcam • Best dashcam 2025 ->I have the u3000 and the viofo a329 (almost the same as 229). The thinkware has a better experience and probably more reliable and far better parking mode, the viofo has a worse but still usable parking mode and better night time video quality as it has HDR. The thinkware, while you can see a lot, is blown out so bad you can't make any license plates or signs out. Exactly like what you said. I personally prefer being able to see important details, and the viofo does a far better job at it. I run the viofo, and it's been working very well so far. I would go with the viofo since I care about image quality, but if you want the best of the best parking mode, thinkware is the leader.
r/Dashcam • Which dash cam should I pick? ->Just got a Viofo A329. Best I've had so far. It can actually make out plates at night and inclement weather with some degree of clarity.
r/CarsAustralia • Dash cam recommendations. ->I've recently just got Viofo A329 on the Renault. My other car has Vantrue and Thinkware. The Viofo just edges out the Vantrue for night time number plates legibility at speed. I've had Blackvue before and was not impressed with night time performance where it counts.
r/CarsAustralia • What is everyone’s go to Dashcam in 2024 ->4k60fps with the A329. I upgraded for this (I had the third channel running but found it relatively worthless for my needs, since I'm not ridesharing.)
r/gmcsierra • Dash Cams that are good ->Went with an a329 viofo, works perfectly and the number plates are a lot clearer, my prior 770 blackvue that kept blurring plates, got autobarn to install and it was seamless, brilliant dash cam
r/CarsAustralia • Dash cam recommendations. ->Get Viofo brand. Mines a229 plus, its amazing you can buy more better ones like a329 but quite expensive
r/HondaOdyssey • Dash cam noob. ->You need to specify what you are looking for in a dash cam so other's can recommend the overall best one for YOU. Like the Viofo A329 is probably the best on market at the moment when it comes to video/image quality but it's limited to only 2-channels at the moment. Then there's the Thinkware U3000 that's likely still tops in the parking mode field for it's use of radar. So an "overall best" dash cam is subjective and will depend on one's needs, and wants.

r/DubaiPetrolHeads • Dash cam suggestions please? ->Usually these factory ports on the car are not compatible with most aftermarket dashcams. We had a customer with a BYD Song Plus and this car has a working in-built dashcam in the Chinese spec version but GCC version doesn’t come with it - only the connections. He got the A329 and had to route wires all again since the factory dashcams wirings were using proprietary connections and not rated for 4K60fps transfers. We’ve got great options for dashcams and trusted by many DPH members. Sony Starvis 2 Sensors, Night Vision 2.0, HDR, Super-capacitor battery - our dashcams come with it all. Check us out on Amazon and go through the [101 Guide](https://www.reddit.com/r/DubaiPetrolHeads/s/inLIDWMkcW) and you’ll know what to look out for. Feel free to DM for any questions.
r/DubaiPetrolHeads • Looking for a Dashcam for my Ford Everest ->I've had a few, just got a Viofo A329 and it's leagues above the rest.
r/Dashcam • Overwhelmed with dashcam options. What should I get? ->Picture quality is the best I've had, the mobile app works well (and the wifi mode is super fast), menu options are plentiful, and overall really good fit & finish. It feels like a thoughtfully designed and executed product, which really stands out in today's world full of half-assed products that over promise and under deliver.
r/Dashcam • Overwhelmed with dashcam options. What should I get? ->Sorry to resurrect what is now quite an old thread but I have some updates: Porsche say that they do in fact only offer a front facing dash cam. They offered to install it but I hate to imagine what they would have charged. I don’t recall any mention of prewiring the car for a dash cam when I was speccing it out in June. Otherwise I would’ve gone for it. Porsche say that if you hardwire a 3rd party dash cam it will void the warranty on the electrics (interesting…) Also has anyone actually hardwired a dash cam into a Cayman themselves? Looks like I’m going to have to do it my self as Porsche also refused to do it unless it was for their own product! Oh and I bought the viofo a329 based on the recommendations received here 🙏
r/Porsche_Cayman • Porsche Dash cam ->As an insurance agent, I think EVERYONE should have a dashcam. Preferably one with front and rear facing cameras. There are some great 4k cameras out there with Bluetooth capabilities. Viofo has some great cameras that get amazing reviews, but they are expensive. For more budget conscious individuals REDTIGER F7NP is a great option as well that has wireless, but it’s not Bluetooth. We have them installed on all of our vehicles.
r/asksandiego • How many people here thought about a dash camera installation in their vehicle? ->Viofo 4k, love them and keep upgrading on all 3 cars in the fam
r/Subaru_Outback • Recommendation on Dash cams 2025 outback ->Screw it looking oe. What you really want is a good camera. Viofo makes some of the better ones WITH a rear camera as well. After doing lots of research, lots of them use garbage cameras but the better ones use Sony. Specifically the Song Starvis. The Starvis 2 just recently came out and viofo made a new one with the 2. Good cam, doesn't look ugly. Supports parking recording and collision detection. [viofo Amazon ](https://a.co/d/izrOa1d)
r/mazda3 • Dash cam for current 3 models ->Screw it looking oe. What you really want is a good camera. Viofo makes some of the better ones WITH a rear camera as well. r/mazda3 • Dash cam for current 3 models ->Just when I think I have a good answer, someone comes up with a better answer. The hardwire kit looks great, definitely going to get that for my viofo. For others that are shopping, the starvis 2 sensor this has is great. I have both the older and newer viofo units, and the starvis 2 definitely makes a difference compared to the previous gen.
r/GR86 • What dash cams does everybody use? ->For dashcam, i would recommend either Viofo or Ventrue. Make sure you get the ones with Sony Starvis2 sensor so you can capture the license plate numbers. Hot wire kit is a must of you want constant power and a clean installation
r/crv • Dashcam and weather mats recommendation for 2025 crv ->For dashcam, i would recommend either Viofo or Ventrue. Make sure you get the ones with Sony Starvis2 sensor so you can capture the license plate numbers. Hot wire kit is a must of you want constant power and a clean installation
r/crv • Dashcam and weather mats recommendation for 2025 crv ->Also a fan of Viofo. Been working great since I installed it just over a year ago. I got it because of the Starvis 2 sensor which gives improved clarity in the dark. If anyone is driving at night I highly recommend any dashcam with a Starvis 2 sensor.
r/rav4prime • Dash & rear camera recommendations ->What's the budget? What features do you need(parking mode, cloud connection, etc)? Stick with name brands though. Viofo for good budget option. Blackvue or Thinkware for premium options
r/Subaru_Outback • Dash cam recommendations? ->Around $100, get Viofo. Unless you get a good sale, you're looking at front only and not a front/rear. Look for one with the Starvis 2 sensor, it's a big improvement over the original one
r/Subaru_Outback • Dash cam recommendations? ->The best cameras are the Viofos but the Fitcam is the easiest to install cleanly and looks OEM so it really depends on what you're after.
r/Polestar • Dash cam Recommendations ->I've owned several Viofos and I don't trust them anymore with their built in capacitors that died. I now have 70mai brand. Have the model A800S
r/Ioniq5 • Recommendations for a dash cam? ->I've ran several viofos with no problems. Currently run a A119 V3. No problem easy install. Been running them for years. Usually if something is wrong, its the sd card.
