I had a Viofo front dashcam on my 2023 SEL which I loved. Got a 2025 Limited, but there were no kit for installing a Viofo. Finally installed the FitcamX, which took about 10 minutes. It works surprisingly good, but there's not very much to the hardware. Would have rather spent a little more to get a Viofo, but having the FitcamX is better than having no camera.
Have had a VIOFO a329 mini for a while and it’s the best dash cam I’ve had so far. The WiFi is nice if you’re a bit patient and no swivel type mount. My old camera would always rotate just a bit with the swivel no matter how much it was tightened
I did exactly this, my BMW F36 had real issues with DAB interference when I ran the cable fun the front cam. I have a Viofo A339 front and a Viofo A129 rear. It works just fine for me.
Viofo's cameras attach to your car's windshield using a small mounting block that encloses the GPS sensor and routes power to the camera. I have these cameras in 4 of my cars and I've only had one fall off. I re-treated the windshield, removed and replaced the 3M tape, and replaced it. Problem solved. On the A327 in my newest G70, I bought and used a different kind of 3M tape that has better high-temperature holding power. That camera has never come loose.
Dashcams tend to be sensitive to the type of micro SD card you put in them. Viofo recommends only a couple of different types of card for their dashcams. So there's many reasons why that reviewer's dashcam didn't capture his daughter's curb hit. I have used the Viofo A229 as well as the newer A329; both are excellent cameras. Good build quality, nice features, and highly configurable. I've had mine installed throughout two brutal Houston summers (my G70 lives outdoors) and it has survived without problem. I prefer the A329 because it can record to an SSD, which I prefer for several reasons. Good camera -- I recommend it.
Get something like the Viofo A329, which has a mount that sticks to your windshield then the cam snaps to the mount. Good camera too.
VIOFO A329. It has the same great quality as all VIOFO’s high end dashcams, but what I especially like about the 329 series is that it can record to an external SSD. No more fooling around with tiny and unreliable microSD cards.
There are two advantages to using two single channel dash cams rather than a two channel dash cam. Redundancy, and longer record time. Any dash cam is better than no dash cam. The best dash cam I am aware of is the Viofo A329, It does better than most at night, but all dash cams are bad at night (motion blur and over exposed license plates). I’m happy with the VIOFO A329 in my 25 CrossTrek. Also had a VIOFO A119 in my partners’ vehicle and my previous one. If you want a comparison video, Project Farm and Linus Tech Tips have a couple you can watch. I’d recommend that one if you’re looking for front and rear cams, or the A329T if you want the telephoto camera (better for license plates.) Don’t worry about the Eyesight. My front cam is mounted a couple of centimeters to the right of the black plastic that houses the Eyesight camera. No issues. Also please ensure you’re using a proper high/max endurance microSD card (or a good NVME SSD) if your eventual cam supports it.
