I used to use an Apeman C550 and loved that it was flush with the windshield, would still recommend. I currently have used the mirror dashcam Wolfbox G840s for 2 years now. I love it and works great, helps cause big heads in the backseat don't block anything and I can remove the cargo cover and fill it up to the roof and I can still see out there. My fiancee doesn't like it because it makes her a tiny bit dizzy to have all that movement going on on that screen, and it's also a huge 12" screen. I turn it off when traveling on highways at nighttime because 1, it's empty enough that I'm not switching lanes often and 2, the screen can be really bright, though it can be dimmed. Other thing I'd recommend is if you get one of these, get an anti-glare screen protector. In the summer, if the sun hits people/anything in your back seat, you can see the glare in the screen and it gets annoying but the anti-glare helped a ton! The plug-in for this goes to the 12v cig lighter but, for the hatchback, that's right in the center armrest storage and I didn't like that so I hardwired it to my Wiper Fluid fuse. Hardwiring can seem scary but it can be done with 1 or 2 YouTube videos!
They are very easy to install. I have a Wolfbox G840s front/rear cam. Took me 15 minutes to install it in my SUV. Had it for a couple years now without any problems.
Van windshields are so much bigger than car windshields and I'm having trouble deciding on a dashcam. I have a high roof Ford Transit and I got a Wolfbox G840s but the field of view seemed so small and was not capturing a wide enough image of what I was wanting but I'm not sure if that's standard for a dashcam or if the van windshield is just so much bigger than a normal car. I'm also wanting (at least) a 2-channel so I can have a rear camera but I don't have rear windows and most dashcams come with internal rear cameras instead of external waterproof ones which is quite annoying. Does anyone have recommendations for dashcams that have a wider field of view and potentially a waterproof rear camera?
I replaced my HomeKit mirror or whatever the GT mirror is with a Wolfbox 840S. Drilled the bumper for the rear view, ran the lines and hardwired it into the fuse box. My only gripe is the mount screw got loose and the sun visors hit the edges of the mirror. However it’s been awesome! I keep the mirror in rear view mode and use it as a very competent backup camera. It also pretty much removes the blind spot that the soft top makes.
This is what I use. It goes over the mirror and it helps with the rear blind spots. I actually have several for other vehicles. WOLFBOX G840S 12" 4K Mirror Dash... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0811Q28N6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I like the wolfbox g840s. It saved me 1000$ on my deductible
