Been using dahcams since 2017. Over 4 years I have used Yi Dashcam in my companys car. Made a mistake and used the regular Class 10 memory card and it failed after several months of using in autumn and winter. Then bought High Endurance Memory card and it is still in use (not in the same car) and works well. Since 2019 I have used 70mai model with external GPS module, not sure what is the name of the model. Using High Endurance card from the beginning and it still works (not in my car since 2022). Downside is that the GPS module became loose and somtimes it did not measure speed on the videos. From 2022 I am using 70mai A500s front and rear with hardwire kit and 128 GB SanDisk High Endurance card. Works well now although there have been some bad updates which made it almost unusable. Now that is fixed. Also, since it has batteries, during the summer when left in sunny place, sometimes it takes 2-3 minutes to cool down and start recording normally. During that time it creates time-lapse so in case something happens, I still have usable recording. For my next purchase I will go for some Starvis 2 sensor model (A510 or A810 from 70mai or even go to VIOFO to give it a try).

$50 70mai in the front, 2017 $50 Yi in the back. The Yi is way better I just picked up an extra one in case my 70mai acts up again. I ran a really long cable to the center console for the rear camera. For the front camera I used a dongar brand harness that splits the power from the rear view dimming mirror.

A crappy $20-30 Yi Dashcam saved me years ago from a lengthy insurance scam The guy took full blame but later his insurance hit me up thinking it was my fault. I said there's dashcam footage which the other party didn't realize. A quick email and they were immediately found at fault and I was in a rental in a few days. The rental and repair were fully covered. Without that cam, I would've been out a few grand. I've been running 2 channel setups ever since. Fortunately I've never been in an incident since then but I don't like to drive anything without dashcams. I still have that basic dash cam that saved my butt and take it along on vacations when we're using rental cars. It's better than nothing and it works just fine after 5+ years.

I have a YI cam and a galphi in my wife's car. They work well, have good image quality. Whatever you do buy, make sure you get a high endurance SD card. Because dash cams are constantly write and overwrite on the card, it abuses the storage. High endurance cards are designed to be constantly used.

I have had the yi dashcam for 5+ years in both of my vehicles. The battery needs to be replaced on one but it still works without it, just doesn't keep accurate date/time.
