The sage has alot of settings to mess with, that could be a plus or negative. Also it has a more conical basket in it so that could be a plus for you, it makes it a little more acidic. Maybe a ratio 6 if you want a more even extraction with less acidity, or the new fellow aiden if you want a 4 cup machine. The opus isnt bad like some are saying. It depends on the type of coffee you drink. If you like a darker or richer coffee it works. Imo I would go with the fellow ode gen 2 to get that slick rich fully extracted brew.
r/JamesHoffmann • Buying new filter setup - Considering Sage Luxe Brewer + Fellow Opus ->I have the glass carafe version, got it for $110 open box. Both the breville brewer and baratza encore that I bought at the same time have been amazing for 5 years daily use now
r/JamesHoffmann • I analyzed Reddit for the 15 most recommended drip coffee makers (in the past year) ->I would say a Moccamaster is perfect if you’re not a coffee snob because it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of other high end drip machines. The thing doesn’t even have an alarm function to start making your coffee in the morning… because it doesn’t have a clock. This also makes them practically indestructible. I’m getting frustrated with my current drip machine (a Breville YouBrew with the worst Carafe in history), and I’m considering upgrading because I don’t need the bells and whistles.
r/BuyItForLife • Is a Moccamaster worth it if one isn't a huge detailed coffee person? ->Breville is a better brewer, mocca is maybe better built.
r/JamesHoffmann • Deciding between a Moccamaster KGBT and Breville Luxe Precision, any recommendations? ->I had a Cuisinart "Grind - N Brew" with the built in grinder for 10+ years. Thought i'd "Upgrade" to the Breville with its hopper of coffee beans and it automatically figuring out how much coffee to grind based on how many cups of coffee you were making in the pot. After about 2 years it started to leak, starting off once in a while, and then getting worse. And by leak, it's not just some water running out... its while the coffee is being made and since I use the timer i'd come downstairs in the morning to see a ton of coffee spilled all over the counts, down the drawers, and on the floor. The chute between the grinder and basket would also clog. I went back to a new Cuisinart like 3 years ago and it's been great.
r/BuyItForLife • What is the Best Coffee Makers on the Market? ->It depends what you want: If you want to tweak and maybe hit maximal bean flavor expression w/ said tweability, probably a fellow aiden. If you want a no fuss tank that'll last forever - Moccamaster If you want a few basic features but nothing crazy that'll also be very durable - Sage/Breville brewer
