r/BuyItForLifeWhat is the Best Coffee Makers on the Market?

I have a Hamilton beach going on 9 years (does K cups and single ground coffee by the cup), a Cuisinart going on 20 that always makes a decent pot, a 35 year old Krupps espresso maker (these are my corded units). I have a French Press (no cord) that just keeps going. I have a bialetti (no cord) that keeps going. I have an original Aeropress -the year they came out (no cord--travel to non coffee places--think China off the grid). These work for me. keurigs break---when I got each of these I researched them at the time for returns, company track record etc.....

My Cuisinart is 22 years old, was very well regarded at the time for taste. It's still going strong.

Buying something today--right now --no one can say. Brand names with long standing reputations change over time..... I can say I have a Cuisinart drip machine that's over 20 years old. Moccamaster is well regarded still but will either of those, that I buy today be around in 20 years----don't know.

There seems to be a middle---I was about to push the button on a Breville Precision Brewer but my Cuisinart Brew Central Programmable --DCC1200 , I've had it well over 15 years. It makes a consistent good cup of coffee--still going strong. I mostly make pour over but every time I think of getting a new machine I think I'm covered. What I do like about the Breville --but I can't speak for longevity, is it can do pour over--why I'd want it to--not sure but it could.

IDK--have a cuisinart that's over 20 years old. It was well regarded at the time. Just got a Moccamaster and hands down it made good coffee, better than most restaurants and cafes I frequent. I do pourovers mostly---Kalita or Hario -both units last decades.

r/BuyItForLifeMy coffee maker needs replacement - but is Moccamaster more hype than BIFL?

I have a 20 year old Cuisinart that the past 5 years was only used for when I had guests. I've mostly been doing pourover on a ceramic Hario or Kalita. I recently splurged on the MM KBGV (got one for $240 on Black Friday week Amazon-returned it because I got a lighting deal on one for $179). I did a head to head comparison of taste between my MM and the Cuisinart. The MM tasted notably better taking the same amount of water, same amount of coffee and brewing in both machines. That said it's not going to match my pourovers but for drip coffee, it's about the best drip I've tasted in over 50 years of drinking and making coffee.

If you want regular drip coffee the best home coffee maker I’ve ever used is cuisinart brew central 12 cup coffee maker. Next to no maintenance. I’ve used it for decades.

We use a Cuisinart Brew Central. 10 years old and still works perfectly.

I have a Cuisinart 12-cup that’s been used almost daily for at least 12 years, maybe longer? Got it as a work anniversary gift from the company points program. In contrast, my mom went through three Mr. Coffee 4-cup makers in that same amount of time.

Same. This is really reliable and consistently brews a really good pot fast. We descale every few months, maybe 3x year if I’m good about it.

This is what we bought last year when our 10 year old KitchenAid was slowly dying (do not take that as an endorsement of KitchenAid lol). We love it!

Cuisinart drip programmable coffee machine. Replaced mine last year after 23 years. Mind you, I regularly maintained it and deep cleaned every 3 months

This is what I do. My old machine was programmable though it was also a Cuisineart POS. I find pushing a switch takes zero effort if I grind and set up before bed.

Totally. I had to immediately do the thermos transfer or it was ruined. I still can’t believe how many counters I see it on! It didn’t last long in my house.
