The Melitta Epour has served me (see what I did there?) very well indeed. Makes cracking coffee! Any niggles? Yes, I’d like to be able to set the water temperature, but hey, I cope.
I've had a Melitta Epour as my go-to batch brewer for nearly two years now, and I'm very happy with it. It can make up to a litre of great coffee, and is easy to maintain. It's not even that expensive, around 200 EUR, sometimes less when on sale. Pair it with a good grinder, and you're good to go! There is also a version with a (passable) grinder built in, called the Epos, [James did a video on it a few years back, so check it out](https://youtu.be/kN5HGoMR9c8).
I can only assume most folk on here are either retired or don’t have kids because for 2-3 cups a day, finding the time to manually brew can compromise other aspects of your life and manually brewing first thing in the morning is often not perfection. My preferred brewing device is a Melitta EPOUR, it is limited to one saved profile but that profile makes a big pot of automated pour-over which can’t be consistently beaten by my morning self. This is a small demo I made https://www.reddit.com/r/pourover/comments/1lgrxva/good_morning_epour_automation/
Wow, someone else using this too. It’s fabulous if you make the same quantity each day as you can save only one custom profile. I find the built in profiles work well for 250ml but you really want to have more outer pours for larger batches. If I wanted a machine which started automatically in the morning so there’s a cup of coffee waiting for me, I’d get the Sage. If I wanted something closer to pour over / manual brewing but it automated the process so I’d get consistent results, I’d get the epour (and I did). https://www.reddit.com/r/pourover/comments/1lgrxva/good_morning_epour_automation/
I went from a 30+ year old Melita drip and French press to a Moccamaster. While the coffee is better, so are the coffee grounds due to a far superior grinder that I also purchased. The Moccamaster is a beautiful machine that my wife and I enjoy daily. Small price to pay.
