Mr. Coffee - Compact 4-Cup Drip Coffee Maker

4-cup Mr. Coffee in the morning. Keurig in the evening or throughout the day.

I’ve been using the Mr. Coffee-ish 4-cup maker that was in use by my mother and stepfather in their business while I was in college, decades ago. As it has only one moving part (the on/off switch), it will last forever.

Now I realize that the markings on the glass stop below the basket, too.  That’s not a bad idea at all.   I’ve got a little 4-cup Mr. Coffee (rescued during an office relocation) and the brew basket doesn’t even have a stopper, so you have to wait and hope that it’s finally finished draining before taking out the carafe.  Otherwise it’ll drip the last dribbles onto the hot plate. Anyway, added the Zojirushi to my wishlist on Amazon now.

Oh, that’s right — the OP’s ask of 500ml is close to “four cups” in CoffeeMachineLand.  4 cups at 5 ounces each is 20oz/590ml. I’ve got a 4-cup Mr. Coffee machine *and* an extra glass carafe, both rescued during an office relocation.  Perfect size for two people, IMO.

It makes really weak coffee. I had one for 5 years and switched to the OXO (suggested right below this). I was shocked at the quality difference.

Keurig devices are prone to gunky buildup in the water holder, so I consider them a health hazard. They are not great for a low maintenance situation like (anyone's) Abnb. Give me a basic Mr. Coffee any day: easy to use and eat to clean, even for the laziest of guests.

It might be slightly better, but the thing that’ll make the highest difference is the quality of your beans and grinder. I wager I could get a good cup out of a $15 Mr. coffee with my setup.

I've used the same standard Mr coffee with a reusable filter for like 11 years. It does technically have a schedule function

A coffeemaker is not a BIFL gadget. I use a $19.99 Mr coffee with just an on off switch. They last 4 years or so. That’s 5 bucks a year for a coffee maker. A mechanical outlet timer turns it on in the morning. Worth it.

Depends on your budget, really. I gave a multi-function Ninja one to the weddings I was invited to one year, every one of them got lots of thanks. I also have a Mr. Coffee plain-ass drip machine that cost $12 and has lasted longer than one of my used cars.

So will my $40 Mr. Coffee I've been using for over 15 years.

American who visited family in Poland: why do y'all use that instant coffee stuff where you add a spoonful to a cup of hot water? It's like the worst way of having a coffee. At minimum do yourself a favor and get a Mr.Coffee or a French Press.

Pour over or French press. If you want an electric drip machine, Mr. Coffee is no frill and lasts for eons. A moka pot is the answer for stronger espresso drinks.
