thanks. Have tried the moccaMaster before. It's built like a rock. Solid, working, good looking. But I'd like to remove the water tank, just a nice feature. And no moccaMaster can do that. Will look at the sage breville. But disappointed it does not hold heat. An unnecessary step to preheat the Coffee pot. I'm coming from the Wilfa performance and Wilfa zense. But they break quite fast. Just bad quality in my opinion.
I have tried many and appreciate the simplicity of the Wilfa performance. I like the ability to make an immersive brew.
I love mine I use it as an automatic clever. I keep brew stop on for 2 minutes and then release. I bought the combo together with the grinder and it works well for me.
thoughts on this long term? in general i like mine but i find that unless im doing a full jug (which is rare) i feel i need to bloom/stir the grounds to get a good extraction. if you just let it run the grounds look very uneven and the water just plows through the coffee leaving a funnel shape. also the water seems to come out of all the holes at the start of brewing, but after a few seconds it tends to turn into a basically a single stream due to surface tension. i do wish it had a broader shower head especially for making smaller amounts. My wife also doesn’t like it as its not so hands off/automatic. At least you can steep by shutting off the drip, which is one of the main reasons i got this instead of the moccamaster. but i do wish it didn’t require as much supervision.
I bought the Wilfa Performance brewer, distributed by Lardera in the U.S. Since I got it in the summer of 2024, it's been extremely consistent and makes great coffee. It's easy to clean, water is consistently in a range of 203-207, and it seems to extract well. At $250 it's pricier than I expected, but it's been a great experience. I really wrestled with getting a Moccamaster, but I didn't quite like their carafe and wanted something larger for serving groups.
I ended up buying the Performance and have been using it close to two months now. It makes delicious cups of coffee!
I’ve been mostly happy with it . I’d be 100% happy with it if the hot water drip covered a wider area in the filter basket
Love mine. They did a new version since that video I think, some of the stuff he complains about is fixed. I still make pourovers pretty regularly, but when I’ve got a wall of meetings it’s nice to just go automatic.
That's my issue too. I don't understand why no one has made a coffee machine with glass parts and minimal plastic. When my wilfa drip machine dies I'm going to strip it down and see if I can swap out the plastic parts.
Glass for the reservoir, make the filter coffee holder into a porcelain or glass pour over yoke that isn't attached to the body and sits on the jug. Or have it held by wires that warm it up so it doesn't shock the coffee when the machine starts and you get consistently warm water running through the coffee. And swap out the plastic sprinkler for metal. I've thought about this a lot.
I have almost every SCA certified coffee maker,(weird I know) resulting from marketplace deals, flea markets, yard sales , ebay etc. Didnt start out that way but after retirement I married a coffee connoisseur lol like myself and money being no object I have to say the Wolf, Moccamaster,Aarke,Wilfa, and Breville Precision brew are my favs. OP would do well with a Ninja dual brew pro with his price point IMHO.
It’s pretty much bulletproof, but if you manage to break anything on it, you can get spares and it is repairable. I had couple Wilfas and they do make IMHO slightly better tasting coffee, but they all seem to have issues with the pump. My MM has now lasted the same amount of time than three wilfa brewers.
I switched from pour over to this machine a few months ago and am extremely happy with it. The coffee is excellent and I wouldn’t switch back. Consistency is great with this machine, also makes a really good cup. Ease of use is great too. It’s nice having a free pair of hands to do other things while it’s brewing. Notably though, I don’t use the heating element. We drink what we make and don’t leave any behind to “stay warm” Edit- didn’t see this had an insulated carafe, mine is glass.here is my setup, with our fav coffee. https://preview.redd.it/tea3s1qvx1qe1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8d207767dd2bbddfbf4b8fcc57b6a5756cfc75d6
