I think something like the CetusFPV rtf kit from beta fly is a great learning platform for a first “hobby” grade drone. I stepped into it after flying and crashing a few super cheap toy drone and getting on a decent simulator for a while. I rarely have a flight that doesn’t end with it smashing into a wall, ceiling fan, TV, and of course the floor and the thing holds up. Only complaint is the analog video sucks but I’m hoping to find a solution for that soon
r/TinyWhoop • What is the best drone for beginners in YOUR opinion? ->I would go for a betafpv air or cetus kit. IMO the neo is too much for a 10 year old. With something that can fly miles away up to 40 mph it's less of a toy and more of a tool. Get the kid a tiny whoop FPV so they can fly it whenever indoors or outdoors without you needing to worry about them getting in trouble. Betafpv's are also way cheaper and easier to replace if they fly it into a pool or something. EDIT: This is slightly biased because teenagers flying drones around other people's windows has ruined local flying in my neighborhood. Please be responsible if you get them a dji
r/drones • Beginner drone recommendation for 10 year old. ->I wouldn’t recommend the Cetus kit, the controller is awful, the goggles are bad, and the drone is meh. The BetaFPV air65 and 75 are quite good though. For the controller, something from Radiomaster or Jumper with ELRS.
r/drones • Beginner drone recommendation for 10 year old. ->Don’t get the Cetus kit, the drone help community I’m in has seen many people being pushed out of the hobby because of how much the literadio sucks, and the drone itself is quite meh. The BetaFPV air65 and 75 are better options. But yeah, get a sim first. You should train like you fly and fly like you train, so use the same radio controller you’d use for the real drone. I recommend the Radiomaster pocket or boxer. Specifically the ELRS version, not cc2500 or 4-in-1.
r/drones • Best Drone under $200 ->Get a cetus kit or build a cine8! That's how I started my quad addiction.
r/fpv • Beginner, thinking I should start with a 2 inch drone or cinewhoop, or at at the very least a quad that can handle a Runcam Thumb Pro or simmilar camera, on a budget. ->I would go for something like a beta fpv Cetus which comes with goggles tx and quad. It won’t be the best thing in the world but it’s everything you need to have fun and see if it’s something you want to carry on with. I think the whole Cetus package is around £200
