Meteor75 Pro is a beast. Preferably get a charger that is better than the stock checker/charger the meteor comes with. For goggles, you can check Skyzone Cobra SD, I have the Cobra X and I like them very much as they can be powered with external battery/cable. You can also use power bank to power them with usb-c. I believe that the only differences between X and SD is that SD have lower resolution and SD do not record DVR at 60 frames.
Join us at r/fpv. Wrote this for some friends who saw my videos and will share it with you. First off yes yay let's fuckin go it would be awesome if you got into this too! It's been described as skateboarding but in the air and I would say that's true lol. had GPT reword my message because it's a lot of info Step 1: Get a Radio + Sim Start with a radio first, then get a simulator to see if you like it before dropping more cash. Radios: Radiomaster Boxer (~$150 new, $90-100 used on eBay) β Solid mid-tier radio, great ergonomics, works with everything. Radiomaster Pocket (~$70 new) β Smaller, more budget-friendly, still great. Simulators: Liftoff β Easier to get into, second-best physics. Velocidrone β Best physics, racing-focused. Make sure whatever radio you get is ELRS (ExpressLRS). Itβs open-source, long-range, and just better than the other options, which I donβt even bother with. Step 2: Analog vs. Digital Digital (looks super clean, more $$) DJI β Best image quality, my choice. HDZero β Great balance of latency and clarity, plan to get one later. Walksnail β Another digital system, some people like it. Analog (cheaper, lighter, faster video feed) Been around forever, lots of compatible gear. Tiny bit of latency advantage, but most wonβt notice unless flying really fast. Step 3: Goggles Analog Goggles: EV800D / Fat Shark Recon Echo (~$100) β Good budget options. Fat Shark Scout (~$200) β Better features, dual antennas, comfy fit. Edit: if you are fine spending more just get the HDzero Box pro, it has analog and HDZero for 300 bucks. It came out 3/14/25 Digital Goggles: DJI Goggles N3 (~$230) β Cheaper than Goggles 3, but still fantastic. HDZero Box Pro (~$300, coming soon) β Will support both HDZero and analog (Iβm grabbing these when they drop). Walksnail Goggles L β If going Walksnail, these are solid. Step 4: Drone DO NOT buy drones from Amazonβthey mark up $100 quads to $300+. Buy from: β TinyWhoop.com β GetFPV β BetaFPV Store on AliExpress (cheaper, but longer shipping). Analog Starter Drone: Meteor 75 Pro β Indoor & outdoor, durable, beginner-friendly. Air 65/75 β Lighter, but more fragile than the Pro. Digital Starter Drone (for DJI N3 goggles): Pavo Femto β What I fly. Great image, tiny size, well-protected camera. Total Cost Estimate: π° Sim: ~$15-35 π° Radio: ~$70-150 π° Goggles: ~$100-300 π° Drone: ~$100-250 π Flying FPV: Priceless π https://www.fpvknowitall.com/ Bardwell is the man. https://youtube.com/@joshuabardwell
Love my meteor 75 pro ππΌ
Unless you want to spend your kid's birthday evening at the ER, do not get a Mini to fly indoors. A Neo should be better. Get a kit with at least a controller. Even better for inside is a tinywhoop. Depending on budget you could get a BetaFPV Air65 and some cheap analog Goggles or go *fancy* with a Meteor 75 Pro OF and DJI Goggles 3. And a controller in either case like a Radiomaster Pocket or a DJI FPV controller 3 (if you go *FANCY*).
Crux35 @ $150, Baby Ape pro v2 @ $125 or Foldape 4 @ $115? I got Avatar X and Meteor 75 pro and want to add some range and flytime to my experience but doing so on a budget so decide to give analog a go. I got eachine pro58 and looking for a drone that will mostly be for cruising so range and fly time is what I mostly looking for with some light freestyling for fun. I was going for the foldape being the cheapest and having gps and longest fly time but the poor gps, foldable frame and 3s got me rethinking so now I'm trying to pick between: Don't have time to build my own so need a bnf but might be ok with upgrading a bnf if its relatively simple and not too expensive. Which would you go with?
