Based on 1 year's data from Feb 14, 2026 How it works
I really like my pavo20 pro
It most certainly does.
I have the pavo 20 pro and while it's a great drone I think it's probably too big / powerful for inside use especially for someone just starting out. I would go something 1s or 2s for inside use.
I‘d say pavo 20 pro with o4 lite and goggles 3 Edit: Or cinelog25v2 with o4 pro
It most certainly does NOT feel like a 5 inch though. Whoops almost never do, if you want to freestyle build a toothpick in that size range. Yes you CAN freestyle the Pavo 20 Pro but you’re going to sacrifice a lot just for a whoop when better alternatives exist in dedicated freestyle frames.
The Pavo femto, pico, and even up to the Pavo 20 Pro are in a weird spot where they have SO much power its hard to use inside unless you know what you're doing, but so small that outdoors you have to have a near perfectly windless day to enjoy using them. I like mine because indoors I'm just doing real estate walk through stuff, and I can use it outdoors when it's nice out.
Love my Pavo 20 Pro, but its wayyy more cinematic flying. I do a little bit of freestyle, but no drone this small is going to have that instant power of a 3.5 or 5in
Something like the pavo20 pro or pavo25 v2 are usable indoors going slowly, but it takes a LOT to control it and definitely isn't something you just pick up and do. They are also then small enough that for outdoors, unless there is 0 wind, you're fighting the wind most of the time and kinda ruin the fun. Unless you KNOW this is the right setup for you, (like real estate fly through stuff) you should go 3in+ outdoor only, and something smaller indoors only.
I really love my Pavo20 Pro with O4 Pro. Awesome little quad.
Your journey sounds exactly like mine. I went with the betafpv Pavo20 pro
Avata 2 flys like shit its ok if you just do dji stuff but for arco its to heavy and way to underpowerd Pavo20 Pro? With the newest software you have position and altitude hold if you have a gps
your ability to handle the complexity of control is important to the drone. even with sim time if you start with a 7 inch you'll most likely end up going home with it in pieces or even worse going home without it. if you want to go with a more traditional hobby quad I would recommend starting with a 3 inch or smaller. maybe something like the pavo20 pro with the o4 pro. you get basically the same video quality as the avata 2 in a nice small package. it's not going to do any crazy freestyle but it will be great for cruising around and exploring like you said. it'll be a good stepping stone if you decide you do want to do the type of flying that is good for a 7". it also uses 2s or 3s batteries that will be much cheaper than avata batteries.
That's not a bad choice. The only thing I would recommend looking into is getting the ELRS radiomaster pocket. It's cheap and a great first radio. The tango 2 is also a good radio but it's a bit expensive and most people run ELRS nowadays. the receivers are cheaper and more widely available. ELRS preforms just as good or better than crossfire. It should be great for cruising and exploring. you might want to buy some extra arms for the frame because they aren't too thick. Arms take most of the force from crashes so they tend to brake first. It sucks not being able to fly because you have to wait for an arm to come in the mail. If you're just flying over grass and stuff though it should survive most little crashes fine.
