Does he like fast things and adrenaline, like riding motorbikes? In that case, consider an FPV drone like the Avata 2. It can do most of what a mini can do, and much more.
r/dji • Drone recommendations? ->I have my Avata 2 for more than a month now and can tell you: it's an amazing machine. It's the ultimate hybrid drone, meaning that it is not the best at anything, but it is good at everything. It can be a camera GPS drone and it can be a quite capable FPV drone, all in one. You can fly it like an airplane, with the motion controller, and you can fly it like a quad, with the FPV controller. You can press "pause" at any time and it'll hover in place. It's also extremely easy for complete beginners to fly. I have let family and friends fly it and my wife and kids. It really is THAT easy that anyone can do it instantly, with the motion controller and in normal mode, obviously. Another great feature, once you get the hang of it, is the head tracking, which lets you fly your drone like an airplane, but with the ability to look around while doing it. Kind of like looking through the window of a nimble fighter jet, which is a lot of fun. To give you an idea of how it flies, here are some videos of my first month: [https://www.youtube.com/@EagleDroning](https://www.youtube.com/@EagleDroning)
r/dji • Is the DJI Avata 2 a good beginner drone? ->I would reccomend the Avata 2 than! BUT Check some youtube vids first!! because the Avata 2 is not really beginner friendly, but than again... its way more fun and ALOT more fun to watch movies from you created with it... But yeah first, watch some youtube clips about The avata 2, or the other drones like mini 4 pro. You cant go wrong with a mini 4 pro though !
r/dji • What drone should I get? ->''nausea and vertigo from VR headsets.'' me to i get heavy sick from PC vr headsets!! but with the Avata I DONT. That was also something i was scarred about, but i tried it and i wont get sick from that headset. I also have a mini 3 pro ! they are great! and camera wise extremly good!! Easy to use to! You just need to watch out when flying sideways (you can crash into things), otherwise its very easy. I would not recommend the NEO. So if you ask me is the mini 3 a good deal? yeah it is! Like i said i got the pro version. But i THINK the pro version comes only with some more sensors (for following, tracking and obstacle avoidance). But you have to check that one out if the camera is the same. The NEO has worse camera though! I got the controller were you need to use the phone. That works great, but if you can i would suggest go with the inscreen build one. Sorry for my bad english though :)!
r/dji • What drone should I get? ->Yeah i see you all good. You can always go for the mini 3, because it wont dissapoint you! And later on you can always go deeper into the drone world, and maybe try out even some avata 2 :P ! Take care though!! and watch some youtube videos otherwise still :) !
r/dji • What drone should I get? ->I agree with u/Own_Shine_5855; you need to tell us what you want to do in this hobby. If you want to fly a DJI Avata 2, then go for it. If you want to fly FPV freestyle, like many of the cool YouTube vids show, you will frequently crash. The time spent fixing crashes will dwarf the time doing the initial build , so if building once is prohibitively unpleasant, then it is likely that you'll find the hobby unpleasant since there will be a large amount of crashing. So tell us what has you interested in the hobby, and we can give you better advice about drones that will work for you, or if you just need to bite the bullet and gain some drone building skills. If the latter (e.g. you like the freestyle vids), don't despair; there are some great kits out there and excellent video tutorials that will walk you through every step.
r/fpv • Best company that sells ready to fly drones? ->Save $700 more and get avata2, been flying and racing since 2016. Most fun I’ve ever had, downvote me.
r/fpv • If you had ~$700 for a drone, remote, and goggle combo what would you buy? ->I started racing building flying drones in 2016, competitively. 8 years experience. I would have killed to have started with the Avata 2. This is the only obvious choice as a recommendation for any new pilot, you want to just fly and have fun? Get avata 2, let anyone that doesn’t own one hate on you, they are all just jealous of how easy your entry point is, that is their problem, not yours. Ignore the hate, get avata 2 and fly and have fun today. Get dji care.
r/fpv • DJI Avata 2 to start out FPV? ->I started with the Avata 1 still have it but I agree the two seems superior in every way, it's definitely not the most frugal way to get into fpv but I think DJI goggles/vtx is a good choice, I just recently ordered a HDzero goggles set to play with whoops and maybe an analog or two. I think you'll be very satisfied with your Avata 2, if you find you want to wade deeper into fpv I recommend the Joshua Bardwell YouTube channel, and his FPV build kit on getfpv the DJI o3 vtx is compatible with your goggles 3 as of a recent update as well as your controller I believe. Don't discount practicing in the sim, your Avata will feel different but, familiar. Most importantly stay safe and have fun.
r/dji • Is the DJI Avata 2 a good beginner drone? ->Generally the DJI Mini 4K is a great drone, but honestly I think someone that age would prefer to fly an FPV drone in comparison to a camera drone. FPV drones are the ones that go really fast and people do tricks and flips with them, while camera drones are usually more delicate and are being used to film and make photos. I don’t know your son so I don’t know what he wants to do with it cause maybe he really wants to make content with it. One more thing, a good beginner drone like the DJI Avata or DJI Avata 2 ar a bit more expensive. If he’d want an FPV drone I would honestly get the Avata explorer bundle but it’s 679 euro, so it’s quite a bit more expensive. But again, the DJI Mini 4K is a great drone.
r/dji • Best affordable DJI drone for beginners? ->OP, i do not recommend an avata, i had an avata 2 and it kinda sucks, although I will say you could get one used, sell it after using for a bit so you can keep your money, cheers.
r/fpv • Avata 2 as a first drone ->Well for starters it's extremely underpowered, not durable, heavy for what it's made of, impossible to fix. I can go on forever.
r/fpv • Avata 2 as a first drone ->Ah. Flip is still better than Avata 2 tbh tho. Avata 2 is kinda uh not the best and too much cost for what it is.
r/fpv • Avata 2 as a first drone ->agree with this guy, myself im coming from a dji avata 2, outgrew it within a month. ended up getting a geprc mark 5, absolutely love it so far. I also have a mini 4 pro, I will not upgrade that anytime soon since dji drones really are the best with consumer cinema drones, but fpv is not their specialty. You will want to upgrade from dji fpv drones really quick after getting into it, making it just not worth it overall. Cheers.
r/FPVFreestyle • what is the best dji fpv drone for freestyle ->You are going to kill someone with a nazgul. Get a cinewhoop or an avata 2
r/fpv • Looking to get into FPV drones to film content over large crowds at DJ events. Anyone else do this and have a setup they can recommend? Thinking of getting iFlight Nazgul Evoque F5. ->Get an avata 2. Is great for new people and just what you are looking for
r/fpv • Looking to get into FPV drones to film content over large crowds at DJ events. Anyone else do this and have a setup they can recommend? Thinking of getting iFlight Nazgul Evoque F5. ->Neither. Go Avata 2. The motion controller makes FPV soooo easy
r/dji • Which drone beginner ->You can fpv almost any DJI drone, by setting the gimbal to fpv (if you want the horizon to shift with the drone flight) and connecting to compatible goggles/controller. The mini 4 pro is compatible with the goggles 3 and motion controller 3 as an example. I will say, as a mini 4 pro and avata 2 owner, I’ve only done it once as it was much slower and less responsive than the avata 2. Fpv drones are better for that experience.
r/dji • What is the ideal drone for first time user? ->The powerlack is real tho but if you just want a cinewhoop to fly cinematic fpv shots then you don't really need it. Avata 2 is no drone to hyperloop through close corners in some random fucking 'bando. In that case I'd like me some proper engines... ngl. But for most acro cinewhoop shots it's great.
r/fpv • DJI Avata 2 to start out FPV? ->DJI Avata 2 is pretty much the "Apple Experience" of drone systems. No troubleshooting, no weird little things to keep in mind - just plug & play! Easy to set up and with the DJI Motion Controller as safe as it can be. You don't even need to spend time in simulators. Also the Drone has several safety features and just hovers in place if you break it ot press the pause button. Nothing other fpv drones can do. Also you can start and land it in regular DJI camera drone mode so no need to do it manually. Also the camera can turn +/- 80° somewhat so you can watch where you land. If in doubt you can just make the drone hover and only let it sink in Z-axis, you have full control. Avata 2 is foolproof and easy for beginners. Footage is great since the camera is insane and captures in 4k 60hz. You have good digital video in your goggles and can be sure that if you loose signal the drone just hovers and then returns to home. If you want to do manual flips you need the DJI fpv controller tho for additional 140€. Even in manual acro mode if you loose signal the safety kicks in.
r/fpv • DJI Avata 2 to start out FPV? ->I have a Mavic and my Avata 2 will be here Wednesday. I have used my Mavic only a handful of times just because I don’t find a lot of fun in just flying at that speed and taking pictures, and the videos just aren’t that exciting with it. I am hoping the Avata re energizes my enjoyment for drone flying. The honeymoon phase with the Mavic died off quickly. And I live in Colorado with more photogenic locations than I know what to do with
r/dji • Avata 2 double use as a vacation video drone? ->You should absolutely get an Avata 2 for your first long range drone. Yep.
r/fpv • Beginner to FPV, looking for a decent long range setup (everything from scratch) would like to be around $1500 but can go slightly more. Refurb kits work too ->I have an avata 2, and also recently got an Air75. Super maneuverable and the bad video quality doesn’t bug me in the moment. Air 75, radiomaster pocket, and some cheap analog goggles sets you back about 300 bucks. Digital tiny whoops are heavier and don’t handle as well I’ve found.
r/TinyWhoop • Avata 2 owner looking for buying advice for controller/drone ->Hard to answer. Fpv I have seen good ones custom made. If you like brand consistency I would say DJI with avata 2 FOR FPV perhaps… but not excellent in camera if you want videography. If you want quality in video I would say mavic 3 or wait a bit I heard mavic 4 is coming. The choice maybe depends on what you want the most while bit of sacrifices on the secondary usage. Curious to hear what others advice tho
r/drones • Most advanced drone commercially available? ->Your iPhone won't overheat. If you're using the variant without the screen, the remote is doing all the heavy lifting and not stressing your antenna chips on the phone. Personally, I would recommend going with current gen drones, Mini 4, Air 3, Air 3S, Neo, Avata 2. If you go down a generation, the only drone I would recommend is the Air 2S, or Mini 4K. But their remotes are NOT compatible with any forward generation of drones. Tariffs, and price gouging is affecting drones across the board with imports being blocked, and you'll unfortunately have to suffice with third party if you live in the US as you will very unlikely clear customs with overseas import buying new. You'd have to Ebay, or use like Adorama. Air 3S is being scalped for 2K+ (supply & demand really), and Air 3 non S variants are still within reasonable prices including screened remote 1100-1400. Mini 4's is increasing in price significantly these last few weeks, floating around 1K+ $300 over MSRP. You won't be able to find a Mavic 3 Pro or Mavic 3 anywhere either, unless you just buy the drone itself.
r/dji • What drone should I get? ->Flip isn't FPV, it won't connect to goggles. Mini 3 won't connect to goggles either. Even the Mini 3 Pro, if you could get it connected to goggles won't fly in Manual mode. The Neo is a bit underpowered for anything but cinematic flight and very light freestyle. The Avata 2 is a somewhat more rounded quad, but still mostly a cinematic quad. If you are wanting to fly freestyle, buy a controller (Radiomaster Boxer or Radiomaster Pocket) and start following along with Bardwell's "learn how to fly FPV series". Spend a month doing that and watching other Bardwell videos while you figure out what video system and kind of quad you want to fly. I'd suggest starting with something small like a BetaFPV Meteor 75.
r/fpv • First drone advise ->It's s fair dronei has the first avata and bought the second one as well for the new easy across features but disappointed to learn that you can't use easy acto whilst you are recording. Not to mention they I can't seem to be able to get the gymbal to move with the dedicated gymbal wheel on the motion 3 controller. It's waEssy to fly fpv. And the camera quality is brilliant. Just wish I could change the pitch of it mid flight 😭
r/fpv • Avata 2 as a first drone ->My vote is for the Avata 2. There is almost no learning curve and anyone can use it there first time. As your confidence increases you can practice manual mode on simulators and then get a normal controller. I believe the range is 2 miles
r/drones • Drone for dad for Christmas ->AVATA 2 for beginners the Gopro 5 sensor is the camera in the avata 2. Plus you get a joystick for easy control.
r/dji • what dji drone to get? ->Drone hobby is not cheap. Recommend you save up for an DJI Avata 2...it is the modern gateway drug to this hobby
r/fpv • best drone for noobies ->Tiny whoop is the worst place to start....Assuming you dont want to throway money at crap.. £76 tiny whoop, £213 skyzone cobra x, £65 radiomaster pocket, £30 x 5 lava 300mah = £384 Go for baby ape instead and 3/4S even more expensive and dangerous for newbie... Save up beyond that for Avata 2 and play sims in the meantime.
r/fpv • best drone for noobies ->Personally, I like the Flip for shooting people. It's relatively fast and really good at tracking people. It's also realtively safe to operate in close proximity to people. If you want to track yourself, its probably the best choice. It has a killer camera. Good flight duration. The Neo is also a great drone. Very safe around people, decent camera in good lighting. Good at tracking people. Not as fast, however, and battery life is shorter. When you say moving fast, how fast? If it's more than 30 mph then the Avata 2 is better. Also, killer camera. But it has no autonomous modes. Someone needs to be on the sticks and it's a heavy beast if it hits a person. Also less well protected props. For FPV the Neo and Avata 2 are super. The Flip can do FPV to a degree but there's not goggles option right now.
r/dji • What drone for a specific use ->You might need the Avata 2 to keep up. There are also a host of tiny whoops that use the DJI O4 tech like the Meteor75 and Pavo Femto that are small, light and super fast. But they are full manual and not GPS guided so they are high workload to fly, not stable in a hover like DJI drones. But they are cheaper and pretty safe around people. Battery life is short though. Anyway, good luck, sounds like a cool project!
r/dji • What drone for a specific use ->I'd take my mavic 3 and avata 2 on vacation
r/dji • Avata 2 double use as a vacation video drone? ->I would say if you're a beginner then the avata is probably the way to go in your use case. you can also make your own fpv drone but there are cons of that aswell. it really just depends on exactly what you are looking for.
r/dji • What drone for a specific use ->The Neo is more durable, better crash resistance, compact, and lightweight—ideal for tight spaces like a skatepark. More beginner-friendly while still offering high-speed action shots. it also has ai tracking. The Avata 2 is more cinematic with better stabilization and image quality but slightly less durable. It’s great for smooth FPV shots but not as tough as the Neo. (thats as far is I know, but i could be wrong. its best to double check.) For **skatepark filming**, the **Neo** is actually the better pick in my opinion (especially with the fpv rc if you decide to get it—) it’s built for quick movements and resilience, which is perfect for chasing skaters in a tight environment. im getting my neo hopefully in 2 days so if you dont get it by then i can do a durability test or something and let you know. hope this helps.
r/dji • What drone for a specific use ->neo is more versatile. it can be controlled by itself, with fpv rc (not the best option because it doesnt have the best amount of power) normal rc or your phone. the avata is purely built for fpv, has more power, and a better camera from what I know
r/dji • What drone for a specific use ->sadly, its not one of the neo's strong suits. if the manuever taxes the motors or battery too much, it will revert to normal camera mode. it doesnt have enough power to pull a dive off unless you have extreme presicion and timing. if you master it however, it is possible. but not recommended. if you want shots such as i dive, **i would go with the avata.** the neo is always a cheap alternative option to do dives on though if you have care refresh lol. from what i can recall, the base neo with 2 year care refresh is around 240$. 200 by itself. the fpv rc for the neo is around 190$ the avata is around 1,400 on amazon, not sure exactly what it comes with but it looks like it has googles, the drone, the battery, the controller, and the other basic stuff like props. the link is quite long so i wont put it here but this is the name of the item: # DJI Avata Explorer Combo, FPV Drone with Camera 4K, Super-Wide 155° FOV, Includes New RC Motion 2 and Goggles Integra Black, FAA Remote ID Compliant good luck!
r/dji • What drone for a specific use ->The avata 2 has over 4 times that battery life… he’s not racing or doing freestyle, he should easily hit 15-20 mins of flight time don’t think I have even had much less than 20, and calling the avata 2 a drag racer is a bit of a fuckin stretch, it’s more like a Miata with a Cadillac interior and drivetrain, it’s made for filming, not for racing
r/fpv • FPV drone for a farmer ->I know that DJI NEO sucks as FPV drone but it will be sold in huge numbers and if at least half of people who owns it will try FPV on it should greatly increase FPV hobby. Of course, you have to buy FPV RC3 and Googles but people buying DJI stuff usually have good spending power... Most of them quit but some will want to do more and will buy other stuff. DJI NEO is much better, safer, cheaper intro to FPV than AVATA2(which I own too). I bought Radiomaster Boxer, HDZero Googles and Mobula 6 freestyle. So I am in both worlds now(DJI and FPV).
r/fpv • DJI NEO might be best small training drone to learn FPV if you want to use DJI Googles 3 ->I do have lots of simulators. I already have Avata 2, Neo with FPV RC3 and Googles 3. I just bough HDZero Googles with Mobula 6 Freestyle for indoors.
r/fpv • DJI NEO might be best small training drone to learn FPV if you want to use DJI Googles 3 ->Avata 2 covers all that minus night vision.. good luck with that for under a few thousand more than your budget
r/drones • Best drone to buy? ->i bought the avata 2 as my first one., Honestly i would say the Mini 4 Pro with fly more would be your best bet. The capabilities and ease of use for the mini is really good. Dont get me wrong the FPV is awesome but it is really different uses and capabilities.
r/dji • What is the ideal drone for first time user? ->No it's not for beginners. Get a tinywhoop or something like an avata 2, combined with a bit of simulator time. You can start in angle mode, then a bit of sim, then acro. Fly small stuff that's reasonable harmless and has prop guards for a couple of months till you have good enough control then get your Nazgul. My avata 2 once cut open my thumb on a botched hand landing, still not completely healed 2 months later. My nazgul could probably chop of the top of my pinky finger ...
r/fpv • Is the Nazgûl v5 a good drone? ->Legally, you can fly the Avata 2 anywhere you can fly the Mini (in the United States, at least, though you do need a spotter to fly with the goggles). I'd say it's safer for urban environments because of the prop guards. And it's actually fairly quiet (much quieter than the original Avata and only slightly louder than the Mini).
r/dji • Avata 2 double use as a vacation video drone? ->I have a Mini 4 Pro. It's a great all-rounder. It's small enough that it can fly indoors with some prop guards if needed, though it's better outside. The camera is versatile, and it can tilt its head for pure vertical shooting. Weighs less than 250g, so registration (especially when traveling) is often easier or absent. Folds up really small. I think it's the best international travel drone for that reason. Here are why you'd want the other drones: * The mini flies well, but the Air flies even better. In places like iceland with high winds, Minis get sent to the shadow realm (the ocean), but Airs can manage better. * Mavic line when you want the best camera setup on a drone for photo and video. The flagship camera drone line for a reason, that tri camera is a beautiful, beautiful tool. * Neo for a more entry level, indoor friendly drone. It's just as easy to carry as the mini and costs less, but the camera is not as good and it's not as strong a flyer. Supersedes the Tello. Lacks omnidirectional obstacle avoidance. * Avata 2 is the strongest flyer, but it's for a different type of flight and shooting. It's for first person flight and exploration. It can definitely chase cars and is the fastest, and also the easiest to control at high speeds, but it's definitely rooted in a concept that's flight-first and photography-second. That said, it's a far more capable camera than its roots in custom handbuilt FPV. The others shown are older models. Good if you want to shave some of the newer features for a discount.
r/dji • what dji drone to get? ->Look at getting something small and cheap at first, cause your going to crash and the first avata is pretty slow and not meant for flying freestyle. I was looking at the beta Cetus kit as my first fpv/tinywhoop but I just bit the bullet and got the avata 2 fly more combo and controller 3. Practice a lot on the Sims and take it slow on the first couple flights. You should be flying pretty confidently after that
r/drones • Is the DJI Avata a good beginner FPV drone? ->But what i think is since he is gonna be buying its first drone avata 2 don’t have obstacle avoidance and believe me it helps alot to learn for newcomers. I think mini 4 pro would be better choice, it was my first drone and helped me alot
r/dji • DJI Avata 2 as first drone. Good idea? ->Well i am not 100% sure do ur research but j am pretty positive that it only have downward sensors
r/dji • DJI Avata 2 as first drone. Good idea? ->Yea i googled it and u r right about avata 2 whereas i own m4p and it have 360 sensors
r/dji • DJI Avata 2 as first drone. Good idea? ->Got it as my first drone and I’m very happy with it. I think it’s very noob friendly, I let my friends fly around with it all the time using the motion controller after giving them a few pointers.
r/dji • DJI Avata 2 as first drone. Good idea? ->For what it’s worth, I agree with you. The Avata 2 is an awesome drone, forgiving learning curve because it’s incredibly well tuned out of the box, and is the entry point into feeling comfortable with analog and a bando basher 5 inch. Just don’t crash it! Care refresh is your friend.
r/fpv • best drone for noobies ->Potato... Hehe. The FPV video quality is decent for the size and the control ability is close to the Avata 2 using the motion controller. I'm sure the the power density is much higher on freestyle ones like the air65. Which tiny woop is your favorite? (Like from the bottom row.) Are all of them analog video?
r/fpv • Looking for the best contraceptive for drones. Mines are keep multiplying ->I own an Avata 2 for close to a year have log in alot flight time applied to get my 107 license. Really loved my Avata2 however recently have gotten involved into Night time shooting in extreme low light areas or barley none at all. I live on the east coast outside of Philadelphia and my budget was 1-3k, not trying to be cheap and can already tell from research anything that has thermal and nightvision is going to be above 5grand so the matice30 or 30t are out of my price. Does anyone have any advice? If they came out or had an eta for the firmware update for A3S and Goggles3 compatibility. They even claim they are doing it or have plans however consumers have been bugging them start in Aug/Oct and they still havent made any kind of announcement of when its coming out or when they plan to release
r/drones • /r/drones Drone Buying Advice Megathread ->So before I commit to buying a DJI Air 3s, I wanted to get everybody's opinion here. I don't know exactly what's going on with the band in the United States. however, I live in Pennsylvania outside of the city of Philadelphia and for the most part I'm using my drone for photography video when I'm on vacation and stuff like that. I'm also an avid researcher in the more obscure things. I don't want to specifically give off any wrong impressions of myself, but essentially I'm doing a lot of wildlife photography more towards the nocturnal side of the day I already own a DJI avada 2. however, it's been kind of difficult to get good footage and images at night ant it's only quiet and manual mode at my own discretion. I don't think I can build one for myself. I don't really have that great of a budget at the moment. it's anywhere from 1k-2k I don't think I'll be able to build my own drone obviously. however, with the advanced lidar ant night vision opticals the air 3s seem to have, I feel like it would be the next best thing compared to the drones like the fire fire department and rescue workers are using which run anywhere from like 10-30k Even though it hasn't happened yet. DJI or apparently going to come out with an update so it would pair with the goggles three that I own so that was the only thing that was kind of holding me back from buying it. now it seems I might have a limit of time before these things are just outright-banded or I can't get them anymore. so I wanted some opinions before I buy it tonight. I'm also staying away from a lot of the listings. there's some on eBay from China that are on the low side like they're only asking for $500 to $900. I'm looking specifically at the air 3s with the flymore combo kit, so we'll have the additional batteries as well as the rc2 controller because I definitely need something with the screen since I can't connect my goggles 3 to them them until they release this update. I've read that people drones from DJI were getting stuck in customs, so I've located a seller on the East Coast that is selling what he is referring to as new refurbished drones. some people from South Korea seem to have decent prices and are selling a lot of them. however, I figured it'd be better which is going with somebody in the United States. if you go off of Amazon they want two grand for this setup so all opinions would be welcomed here.
r/drones • Drone Buying Advice Megathread and NEW Wiki Buying Guide ->I have the avata2 as my first drone. It is super easy to fly and fun.
r/drones • Is the DJI Avata a good beginner FPV drone? ->I agree. I don’t bother with goggles with my camera drone- Mavic 3. The Avata 2 with goggles 3 is amazing. They finally nailed the goggle experience.
r/dji • What is the ideal drone for first time user? ->No. I bought one (Avata 2) and returned it. It's just not a true FPV experience. perform any acrobatic move and youre going to face desync's. The video and stabilization is great, but thats about it. I would compare it to Apple vs. Google but DJI isnt Apple. their ecosystem is very disjointed. For instance, the latest DJI googles aren't backwards compatible to older airunits, absurd. The controller also feels very toy-ish to me. If you ever decide to move to a custom drone, you'll need to buy all new batteries and chargers.
r/fpv • Is DJI Avata the best FPV drone? ->I miss the high quality video and intelligent flight modes of my mini 3 pro when I switched to the Avata 2. I just ordered the integra/mc2 combo to see if I can get the same enjoyment of flying with goggles using the mp3. I enjoy flying through the forest or down streams and ponds, not really interested in doing rolls and flips like a real fpv drone. The mp3 also has almost double the flight time which is nice.
r/dji • Avata 2 double use as a vacation video drone? ->I went with a tiny whoop. I find the 5 inch props intimidating. My use case as a beginner is mild freestyle (zipping around my yard shooting gaps). I’d like better video quality and a little longer (5-7 minutes) flight time, but the choices make me dizzy. I should add, I bought an Avata 2 but returned it. It was nice, but I want to learn to fly with two sticks and it seemed like a really expensive way into the hobby, by the time you got three batteries and the extra controller. I also have a mini 3 pro for photography.
r/fpv • Avata is not a good entry drone ->The real answer is to get both, but yeah.. that's pricey. I love the Avata 2. It puts the thrill back into flying again. However, DJI seems to have purposely limited a lot of the camera features. Things like auto follow and hyperlapse are great on my mini-3 pro. I wish the Avata 2 had them. I mean.. the truth is that you could make either work for vacation shots, but you can probably get a bit more out of the mini.
r/dji • Avata 2 double use as a vacation video drone? ->I have the mini 3 pro, and no I didn't try connecting to the Goggles 3. I don't think it's supported. Inside the goggles, you can choose which drone to connect to. Currently, the only 3 drones on the list are the Avata 2, the Mini 4 Pro, and the Air 3 I believe. I'm really hoping they have a future firmware update to make the mini 3 pro compatible.
r/dji • Avata 2 double use as a vacation video drone? ->I can recommend the 3 and 3.5” class of quads. I have a few emax tiny hawk HDs and AOS 3.5. I usually get around 8-12 min when flying slightly aggressive. For my skill level they do everything I want. I have tiny whoops all the way up to 10” quads and even DJI fpv racer, avata 1 (axis flying frame), and avata 2. Each will give you different flight characteristics. The reason I am pointing you towards the 3 or 3.5” is that they hit a few key points in this hobby. One, they are usually under 250g so no need to register. Two, they are cheaper to buy/fix and batteries are also cheaper. Three, they tend to be quieter unless it’s a cinewhoop (jeez those things are loud) Four, based on points one and three, they usually don’t bother people.
r/fpv • Which drone can you recommend for freestyle flying that gives you a flight time of at least 8-12 minutes? I don't understand why DJI drones last 15 minutes and others only last 5 ->From my experience it's not. It's OK if you want some mild FPV action without having to learn much, and are content flying with the motion controller. However, you're talking about getting into FPV world, and I presume that means learning to fly manual (acro) mode. Acro is relatively hard, and learning will involve a lot of crashing. You'll be grateful to have a durable quad that can take a beating. Avata 2 is very much not that. I'd recommend either a tiny whoop (durable because they're super light) or a 3.5'' freestyle drone (durable because of the carbon frame). Happy to give you more concrete recommendations if you want.
r/dji • Is the DJI Avata 2 a good beginner drone? ->You can use your FPV Controller with any DJI O3 drone. There's plenty to choose from. For starter you'll want a freestyle (X-shape) drone with a thick carbon body. I've heard very good things about the AOS 3.5 created by Chris Rosser. For 5" I recommend Geprc Mark5, or a Nazgul (not Evoque though, too many plastic parts). These things are practically unbreakable, look up "bando bashing" to see the kind of abuse these drones regularly go through. Avata wouldn't survive a minute of that, it's just not made for that style of flying. Which is fine, except when you're learning, crashing is your default style of flying :) Whatever you go for, make sure you're buying the O3 version if you want to fly your DJI controller/head gear.
r/dji • Is the DJI Avata 2 a good beginner drone? ->Sure thing, you do you! I'm sure you'll love it! If you plan to learn acro with it, I'd recommend you get DJI care refresh ahead of time. Also, most accidents happen right about when you start getting confident, and start trying things. Ask me how I know. If you want to avoid needing the refresh, you want to keep your flights "boring" for the first month or more. Avoid proximity, low pass, loops. Practice control and stability - hovering is a great exercise. Quick rolls or backflips are safe at an altitude. Also, be aware that as advanced as DJI drones are, they're not without faults. Sometimes they will do weird stuff, even when your inputs seem perfect (just google "avata death roll"). Allow some extra space/altitude to recover from that kind of stuff. Happy flying!
r/dji • Is the DJI Avata 2 a good beginner drone? ->Avata 2 has an Easy Acro mode that allows you do flips and rolls using the thumbstick on the motion controller. Easy Acro mode leaves all the sensors on so you’re very unlikely to crash. I’ve let 12-year olds use it and they had a blast.
r/dji • Is the DJI Avata 2 a good beginner drone? ->I can not speak for open sea observation. All I know about deep water is from king mackerel fishing. Birds, boats and bait is that knowledge. If you want to know how to program your minipro4 to look/cover a pre defined route, in shallow salt water creeks, I am the man. I have over 250 flights in the last 10 months. I do fly a Avata 2 with the Goggles 3 for observation also when scouting out new locales. If I were open water fishing that might be my choice. Light, easy to fly and you can easily land take off by hand. No way point or super quality camera though.
r/dji • Cheapest & easiest drone for motorcycle. ->I went full custom FPV to start and as a complete noob let me tell you it is way more daunting! After spending more than +2 full days trying to understand everything, update firmwares, battery management processes, link devices, etc I finally managed to get it going but then I accidentally stuffed one my motors with a screwdriver haha what an idiot! I orded replacement motor but still went to the avata 2 route and haven't looked back. DJI is so so easy, no set up at all, I can fly full manual FPV and then have a failsafe button to stop if I f\*\*k up. I've been flying DJI for a while and I'm actually scared to go back to custom FPV with no fail safes 😅 I know the custom FPV will handle WAY better, but there's so much more to it and I'm not a fan of tinkering and soldering etc.
r/fpv • I really want to fly drones but I'm overwhelmed with options, and scared to choose DJI ->Watch what this guy does with the Avata 2: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xi6fB145z9w&list=LL&index=67](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xi6fB145z9w&list=LL&index=67) In short: if you're starting out and have the money, the Avata offers all you want (IMHO), including some ripping. I also like the fact that it has prop guards which makes it less dangerous and it sure is not half as loud as a classic 5 inch. If you'd rather fly inside, start with a TinyWhoop (check out r/TinyWhoop!). I actually have the Avata 2 Fly More Combo and have just gotten me Rotor Riot's Vision 40 (I'm definitely not going back to analog). [Rotor Riot's Vision 40 kit](https://rotorriot.com/products/fat-shark-pro-start?variant=45508966973670) is a blast and costs less than half of what the Avata kit costs, albeit it seems to be out of stock presently, plus you'll have to order from the US. I did order it along with a bunch of extra canopies, frames and props and got it delivered to Germany within 8 days. However, shipping and customs added about $240 to the whole thing (might vary to Israel). I still think it is excellent value for the money.
r/fpv • Avata 2 as a first drone ->The Avata 2 is great but is a bit overkill for just a skatepark as it can go way faster than needed and you need the goggles and controller. The Neo is great for easy snap 10-sec videos, can track a skater for a bit, or can be controlled from your phone for simple videos. If you have never flown a drone before or are not sure that you will fly a drone very much then the Neo might be a good choice. You will have a blast at the skatepark with it. I am unfamiliar but think that the Flip is in the middle.
r/dji • What drone for a specific use ->The best is probably the Avata 2. As you get more into the drone world you’ll see that many other FPV drones have dji camera systems or air units. So you’re able to expand your horizons
r/FPVFreestyle • what is the best dji fpv drone for freestyle ->I bought it months ago ago. Very happy)) Buy it and don’t think. But before going manual (acro) get some hrs on sim.
r/dji • DJI Avata 2 as first drone. Good idea? ->Avata 2 was my first FPV drone and I have been having loads of fun flying in manual! I practiced in TrypFPV. Just make sure to activate your DJI Care...
r/dji • Is the DJI Avata 2 a good beginner drone? ->If you hard turn in manual you can flip the drone sideways and might crash. In normal/sport mode I was never able to flip it but I have seen videos of it happening.
r/dji • Is the DJI Avata 2 a good beginner drone? ->107 holder and FPV pilot here. You do not want to get the Avata. For the same reason u/interesting-low-6356 said, it’s a different class of drone that’s much harder to fly. You will very quickly find it on the shelf because of its learning curve. I would say to go with the Mavic Mini or DJI Air series depending on how seriously you want to take this. The Air will require registration as well as remote ID which is a PITA. Do note that if you plan to do anything with your footage that can make you money, you will have to earn yourself a 107 certificate (assuming you’re in the USA).
r/overlanding • Drone recomendations ->Go with the M4P. The Avata doesn't have Active Track so wouldn't really work for the use cases you're describing. FPV is super fun, but the image / video quality from the M4P is better and it's easier to fly so you'll likely have a much better experience.
r/dji • Avata 2 double use as a vacation video drone? ->Fairly durable I'd say but it all depends on what you hit and how you hit it. I was zipping around the yard trying to do some fun cinematic banking and got overconfident. Slammed right into a flagpole going like 20 mph. There's a little scratch on the side of the prop guard but other than that it's fine. But if it had been a tree that might have caused the frame to crack, in which case you might need to send it in for repair. Just remember to always be aware of your surroundings especially when flying sideways.
r/dji • DJI Avata 2 as first drone. Good idea? ->I have the avata 2 and I'm 99% sure it only has downward sensors and no 360 obstacle avoidance. I think the mini 4 pro does have 360 oa but they are different styles of flight. However you can pair the DJI goggles 3 with the mini 4 pro but that's kind of a lot of money to get started.
r/dji • DJI Avata 2 as first drone. Good idea? ->I have the Air 3S. I also have the Neo. I used to have the Mini 3 and the Avata 2, but so far, the Air 3S is my favorite.
r/dji • My First Drone -> Air 3S a Good One? ->You can look into video comparison for O4 Pro vs DJI Action 5, they are really close primarily because they use the exact same image sensor, and very similar ISPs. Both Goggles 3 and N3 are good options, G3 has lower race mode latency which would give you exceptionally low latency for freestyling, if you'd like that option for the future, G3 also uses better OLED 100hz display, while N3 is box goggles with LED 60hz with higher latency, in general these differences just don't matter much for cinematic flying. Avata 2 will have some issues with the wind, but it's going to be super simple to set up and fly, very easy to learn with. while a proper FPV drone will have a steep leaning curve just to fly. Also Avata 2 and O4 Pro are basically the same in image quality. As the Avata 2 comes with a gimbal attached, you can do certain shots that are just impossible with a proper FPV drone, but the speed and control you have with a proper FPV drone allows for certain shots that are impossible with the Avata 2. You'd need more lipo batteries, with FPV drones, each battery lasts 3-5 minutes depending on how you fly, get a few packs. You should also look into building your FPV drone instead of a BNF, you can save some money, or get better components, but I should warn you, it's a huge deep dive and will most likely you'd end up waiting a lot longer to fly compared to a BNF.
r/fpv • New to FPV: Need Help Choosing My First Drone & Gear! ->With something like the DJI Mini 4 Pro, you will have a 4k camera with a gimbal that works on the X, Y, and Z axis. This is very beneficial for cinematic shots, but this drone is really slow and will not perform tricks. If you were to get something like the DJI Avata 2, you could get faster shots, but the gimbal only moves in the Y axis. In both DJI drones, the gimbals can be adjusted while in flight. Bind & fly (BNF) drones are more fun and 2x faster than any DJI drone, but the camera is fixed. It can be adjusted in the Y axis but you must move it manually by loosening the screws on the camera mount. I bought a Mini 4 Pro and quickly became bored with it. Then I got the Avata 2 and a (BNF) Nazgul DC5 ECO HD w/ DJI O3 Air Unit. After flying the Nazgul, the Avata 2 was boring, so I returned it. Now I just have the Mini 4 Pro for cinematics and the Nazgul for fun stuff. The Nazgul has a 4k camera in it as well so it can take stunning high-speed shots if thats something I need. I highly recommend skipping the Avata 2 and gong straight to a BNF like the Nazgul for a first drone. It is incredibly durable (trust me lol).
r/fpv • What is the best Digital drone? ->Making recordings I fly with a controller with sticks and have attached my phone to the controller. So when i lift the googles i can still see the cam view and the drone. But when i fly for fun, and it is big fun, i use the motion controller + googles and feel like a jet pilot. I find the avata2 is bang for the bucks. So many modes to fly, and have not even started on ACRO (manual) mode yet.
r/dji • DJI Avata 2 as first drone. Good idea? ->Hi Blakestar, I'm an average (at best!) freestyle pilot. I enjoy zipping around shooting gaps and doing basic things like flips, rolls, spins and loops. My analogue quads are great for that. I also enjoy cruising around and exploring and my analogue FPV quads are jut not that great. I just purchased an Avata2 to go cruising and enjoying the view and for that it is awesome. Google's 3 and 04 unit give crystal clear image and far more range than I could get out of my analog setup. Motion controller is super easy to use and fine for this type of flying. Would I use it as a freestyle drone? No, but as an FPV cinewhoop it's very nice. It's got its own usecase which isn't hardcore FPV but lines up nicely with yours BTW though I still can't believe that it doesn't have an effective disarm switch. That is just weird!
r/fpv • Avata is not a good entry drone ->The Avata 2 is a damn good drone to get into cinematic FPV. I wouldn't trade mine for the world. It's a great piece of kit to learn on. It won't necessarily match the power of a non-DJI FPV drone, but it's plenty powerful enough to still do some decent freestyle on. Also battery life. If I rip the shit out of it I still get a good 10-15mins flight time out of a single battery, which is better than other similar-sized FPV drones. And the safety features you get with the DJI ecosystem are unmatched. (Get the 3 battery combo, though if you fly it a lot you might end up wanting more than 3 batteries - I know I'd like to have more than 3 - but they're certainly not cheap, which is one factor where other drones are superior cos they don't require proprietary LiPo batteries like the Avata 2 (or *any* DJI drone for that matter)) The downside is the inability to repair it yourself (which I was never a fan of doing so to begin with), so I'd highly recommend getting DJI Care Express (even if only for peace-of-mind), also maybe some cheapo third-party bumpers which have definitely saved my drone from structural damage during a few crashes for sure. And its high-wind stability is a little lacklustre too, but it's got good built-in image-stabilisation which is also handy for starting out with cinematic FPV. Also if you *do* get the A2, the goggles and FPV controller can carry over to other drones that have the DJI O4 system further down the road. Based on you needs you could do a lot worse than the Avata 2 IMO. The built-in camera is currently the best you can get for an FPV drone, meaning you won't even need a GoPro. I mean, with D-Log and all that, it's a *really* good camera. Both for its FPV-to-goggles feed, and for recording.
r/fpv • Advice needed on FPV beginner drone ->If you are that limited, I don't think you would be unhappy with the avata 2. DJI makes some great kit that is beginner friendly.
r/fpv • Avata 2 as a first drone ->Probably the best drone to learn FPV, yes. DJI drones in general are extremely easy to control (apart from the sport/manual modes). The fools you see crashing on first flight on this sub are just noobs that haven't done a single bit of research.
r/dji • Is the DJI Avata 2 a good beginner drone? ->Mini 4k Pro is my recommendation for beginners - I started with a Mini-3 and because of feature gaps, I went to to a Mavic 3 and haven't looked back. I probably wouldn't have a Mavic 3 at all if I got the Mini 4k Pro in the first place. FPV - I love my Avata 2. Neither Mavic-3 (or Mini-4k pro) or Avata-2 suffer from any quality including videography. If your budget is 2.5k, I think you'd be pretty close to a fly-more package for BOTH if memory serves me - if not pretty darn close.
r/dji • Best affordable beginner DJI? ->are you a good pilot? even rly good cinewoops require decent skills for stabilization (without software editing) and hover stable shots if you are than pavo's (20s or 35s depending what you need it for) have good reputation if you are not - dji have best hover and stabilization - avata2 for indoor shots air 3 or even older models are fine for outdoor shots
r/fpv • Absolute best 5" drone? ->Not being a naysayer but if you want to get into flying and as you say "like seeing a place from a different point of view." don't get an FPV as your first drone. The mini 4p is a solid foundation to start on because I'll guarantee if you get the Av2 you'll get overconfident after a few flights, smack it into a tree/ground and be left with some nice goggles and a magic wand and $1200 of scrap. I really want an avata, having flown a friend's one but it's a steep curve and I've been flying DJI for about 5 years.
r/dji • DJI Avata 2 as first drone. Good idea? ->Go with DJI's Avata 2, Air 3/3s, you can connect their FPV goggles to the drone. All 3 DJI drones use the O4 system. If you go the BYO FPV system I'd recommend a SpeedyBee Bee25 or a QAV-Pro Nano Whoop 2" frame and build it/tune it how you want. Both of those frames can hold a GoPro Bones or a naked GoPro and has a flight time of 8-12 mins of flight time, obviously depending on configuration.
r/fpv • FPV & Cinematic Drone Advice – Need Help Choosing the Right Setup ->Really, I have the avata 2 and I want to get the Pavo Femto so it would be good to try it in liftoff first
r/TinyWhoop • Officially Giving this a go. Been flying a DJI Neo to learn and I feel ready to move on to something a little bit more powerful. Any tips y'all can give me for getting started? ->If your main goal is cinematic I think the Avata 2 is a decent way to get into the hobby. I wouldn't put a GoPro on it as it's already a bit underpowered and definitely wouldn't try anything beyond very light freestyle with it. If you're okay with those limitations go for it. Going self built and/or buying things separately is arguably "better" in the long run but if this helps you get started I am all for it.
r/fpv • Advice needed on FPV beginner drone ->I think that model, the DJI Avata 2, would be good for your purposes. While it is really built for capturing aerial footage from a first person perspective I think the goggles would be useful for chasing sheep compared to a standard drone that connects to your phone or a handheld screen. In "normal" mode it has object avoidance built in and while it won't steer for you it will slow down and warn you when you are approaching an obstacle. It also has a "sport" mode that goes much faster and is fun to fly but no longer automatically slows down. However it will still give you a warning when you are getting close to something.
r/fpv • FPV drone for a farmer ->you don't want an avata 2 if your really going to be flying hard at any point. They like all the DJI gear don't crash well. If you are pushing your limits you will crash its part of it. Build one , this gives you the knowledge to be able to repair it if you have a major crash. My 3.5 inch with an o3 I have crash countless times all have resulted in no more than a prop change minus one but that involved super deep mud LOL.
r/fpv • What is the best Digital drone? ->Avata 2 if you just want to have fun or a fixed camera FPV drone if you want to learn how to do crazy tricks and insane videos or any long range flying.
r/drones • /r/drones Drone Buying Advice Megathread ->You'll probably have fun with either of them. The Avata 2 gives you some extra cool things you can do with the camera tracking to your goggles, it's faster, and longer flight time, depending on how you fly it.
r/drones • /r/drones Drone Buying Advice Megathread ->I tried mine for the first time today. As a complete noob to FPV it has me completely sold, and I'm definitely in for the long haul now. That being said, I can see myself outgrowing it really quickly for ripping round fields and dabbling in freestyle eventually. It will still be really useful for getting those close up shots. In the UK because it is under 500g, I can get a certification that allows it to be flown like a sub 250g drone. So no matter if I outgrow it for outright performance, it's probably always gonna have a place in the toolkit.
r/fpv • Dji avata 2 good for beginner? ->I grabbed the mini 4 pro fly more as my first drone and its awesome. I also grabbed an Avata 2 and its different and loads of fun. Im crap with manual mode still on the sticks, but awesome with the motion controller...shame we cant get full speed with that....
r/dji • What is the ideal drone for first time user? ->I’d get the Avata 1 based on your list. It’s sturdier, quite available used and it has the safety features you are after while giving you a great image and 4k recording. Another item to consider is that the goggles 3 are not compatible with O3 (will be in the future), meaning you are fairly locked into the Avata 2
r/fpv • DJI Avata 2 to start out FPV? ->It depends what you want to do. If you want to freestyle maybe a tinywhoop is good, but for me I get bored of doing flippy floppies in the park. I want to go dive waterfalls and do general exploration outside so i went with an avata 2. It gets hated on here, but i quite like it. I also have a flylens 85 for doing loops in the park. eventually i may get a 5" or a 7". I know i'd have got bored of a tinywhoop almost immediately. Wind is a huge factor and it sucks not being able to do anything in a mild breeze.
r/fpv • I'm new to this, can anyone recommend a good starter drone with the remote and headset? ->Thank you for a great summary of the state of this new drone. I currently have a Neo and Avata 2. I was deciding between Flip and M4P but the Flip doesn’t hold a candle to the M4P so I’ll either pick up the $600 refurb or wait for the M5P. The Flip does so less than the Neo. It’s not even a consideration.
r/dji • Honest Flip Review ->What do you mean taking videos and photos? FPV? Mobula6 or 7. Taking like good quality (1080p+) videos and photos? DJI anything. FPV drones are mostly for recreational flying, cruising, freestyle, racing. Stuff like that. Yeah you can make videos and stuff out of them sure, but the quality won't be there if that's what you're looking for. Cinematic drones, camera drones, or whatever you want to call them that DJI seems to focus on will take much better videos and pictures. TinyWhoops aren't really made for photography or videography though. If you do want something small, like someone else suggested, DJI Neo. DJI Avata 2 if you want to FPV and take decent video/pictures, but it's around 50% bigger.
r/TinyWhoop • What is the best drone for beginners in YOUR opinion? ->I can make a photo with my Avata 2 (arguably the best camera possible on FPV) if you like, so you would decide for yourself.
r/fpv • Best FPV drone for both pictures and videos? ->https://preview.redd.it/7efffqjflhne1.png?width=2920&format=png&auto=webp&s=947d9e7526242a45150e5035c9d8d31ddfd8089f Avata 2, outdoor ƒ/2.8 1/2000 3.33mm ISO140
r/fpv • Best FPV drone for both pictures and videos? ->https://preview.redd.it/q7imh4trlhne1.png?width=2920&format=png&auto=webp&s=35fbbe1bebd2536f99d1eb69cac0231dd23ea31c Found the photo from last summer ƒ/2.8 1/320 3.33mm ISO280
r/fpv • Best FPV drone for both pictures and videos? ->You won't do much vacation/action photography with the Avata2. It's too bumpy in even light wind, small, loud, less automated/smart and only a little stabilized. If you want to fly slow with the motion controller indoors or somewhere calm, you can maybe get some good scenes. I don't find the video that comes out of it to be all that nice to watch.. it's fun to make, not fun to watch. The Mini4Pro is your travel photography drone, but if you didn't use the old GoPro drone much, then many of the same reasons might apply here. It's still a camera drone, great for "looking around" or taking it all in, long flight times, great video quality. No flippy loopy dippy stuff.
r/dji • Avata 2 double use as a vacation video drone? ->Ah okay, so that part of the experience is not usually included with the DJI drones. They seem to have exceptionally good GPS lock and reasonable smarts about returning. If you're not actively trying to crash them, they behave. If you take the Avata2, RC3 and really try to push it outside its comfort zone, it gets squirrely and unpredictable, especially in fast yaw. I don't think you can do anything untoward with the motion controller.. it's pretty timid. Maybe it's your jam. But if you want stable "300 foot tripod" video, Mini or Air3 is the way to go.
r/dji • Avata 2 double use as a vacation video drone? ->I totally agree that a basic Mini 3 is pretty much all you need if your just starting out with drone photography. It’s got a 4K camera, a good 38-minute battery, and falls under the FAA’s 250-gram limit, so it’s really convenient. If you do want more down the road, the Air 3 comes with two cameras and a longer battery. The Mavic 3 Pro ups it even more but costs alot. And the Avata 2 is great for speed and a more immersive feel, but for most beginners, the Mini 3 hits the sweet spot. And also check this thread. https://www.reddit.com/r/ConsumerAdvice/comments/1fum9ab/drone_options/
r/drone_photography • Best drone with camera 2024/2025 ->Mine hit concrete the first day and an arm just exploded. It didn’t just break, the entire arm shattered. It’s made of plastic. Usually that means it’s easily replaceable. But you can’t buy replacement parts so you have to send it back to DJI for repairs. And the Goggles and controller that comes with the Avata 2 is not yet compatible with any other FPV drone so you can’t just buy a new drone and keep the rest either (at least not yet).
r/fpv • Dji avata 2 good for beginner? ->I’ve got the DJI avata 2 as a beginner in FPV and let me tell you . it’s AWESOME and very beginner friendly
r/drones • Is the DJI Avata a good beginner FPV drone? ->Avata 2 is a perfectly fine drone to learn on and an easy jump start into the hobby without the aggressive learning curve of soldering + basic understanding of wiring electronics together. Which can & has ruined some peoples immediate experience flying drones. Can’t see how it’s trash if you can just pick it up and fly with a free emergency brake as a beginner. Seems like the perfect training wheels + you have goggles 3 w/ o3/o4 capabilities.
r/fpv • First drone - whoop with O4 lite? ->- It builds horrible habits? Like what? Learning how to fly immediately? There’s no critical difference in how it flys vs every other whoop in Manual. All stick time is good stick time. I have no habits that remain from my time with the DJI FPV or Avata 2. I fly both custom builds and the Avata interchangeably, so I really don’t get what you’re saying. - It’s not an entry point? Goggles + a controller in the best Digital system available and a flyable drone? - A tool for a different industry Most people are trying to get into FPV for a unique flying experience. Not everyone wants to freestyle, some people just want whoops. I think you’re projecting fairly hard here.
r/fpv • First drone - whoop with O4 lite? ->Sport mode on DJI is nothing like fpv. DJI controller is directly proportional, so you can hold the pitch at full and fly as fast as DJI can, but fpv is rotational, and holding pitch at full will make the drone do the floppy flops. If you want to fly fpv, you need a simulator. This is assuming you use the mini 4, and not the avata/avata 2 with the actual remote controller. But you are right about everything else, like ultra light and less regulations.
r/drones • What is a good beginner drone? Also, what got you into this passion? ->The DJI mini range are photography/filming drones. They won't do tricks, but are very stable and very easy to fly. Unfortunately what you want is a bit of mid-ground between toy drones and serious drones. \[edit - I wrote the following thinking your budget hit $300 and it was your father in law not son.. I definitely wouldn't get an FPV if your son is young - around 1kg and 90mph has the potential to go wrong!\] There should be some better toy drones that can do some tricks at least, but also have the option of being quite steady. If by 'entry level' you want 'easy to fly' as well as 'super fun to fly'.... then I'd try and find a used DJI Avatar, I think it's just at your budget and should tick the boxes. Or even a used DJI FPV, which are a bit faster, but not sure if they're that cheap.
r/drones • Entry level drone that is super fun to fly? ->I bought an Avata and then picked up an Air 3.
r/drones • Best drone to buy? ->
