"The images out of the Air 2s were just....special. ... But there was something about the colour rendering and gradual changes through tones that was just so pleasing to the eye. ... The files were a dream to edit."
"the ability to take 360° photospheres should be standard on pro camera drones. That is a feature that is more useful than many realize. ... With DJI, it composites the picture on the spot which is the best way. ... What DJI defaults to on their 360 photospheres is really a good balance of quality and size for what you're getting and was perfect for Google maps"

"Air2/2S con: They're older systems and don't have omni directional obstacle avoidance. These limitations kept me on specific use cases for the drone."

eBay has been hell trying to sell my mavic air 2 lol
man i started with a mavic air 2 which was pretty wonderful, but family and life got in the way and sold it, got a mavic mini (the original) like a month ago with the fly more package for like $190. It's older but still produces plenty of great shots for kayaking and cycling videos. I'd imagine today's have amazing video but even one that is 5 years old still does amazing footage when compared to a lot of other drone brands around the same $250-300 threshold
Just my opinion, but overpriced drones are also not worth it. And yeah, I'm pretty much looking explicitly at DJI and autel when I say that.. I remember when DJI did not inflate their prices so much. I've had affordable drones from them. Mavic Air 2, great drone at a great price. Ever since the air 2s came out it's like they really took premium pricing to a whole other level. The 2s was basically adding obstacle avoidance and roughly doubling the price of the air 2. While it's a comparison of two different categories, one being prosumer and the other being professional, my x8 tele max was mine (on sale) for $400, and have loved it ever since. I can identify buildings 30 km away with it at 400 ft. That drone has 90% of the capabilities of the mavic 3 Enterprise, which starts at $4,500. Could the fimi step into the mavic 3 enterprises role at a corporation? No, definitely not. Mainly due to the lack of software integration. It could easily replace the M3E at many smaller businesses, however. Anyways I'm just ranting about how expensive DJI has gotten. While at it, I think I need to mention that the ability to take 360° photospheres should be standard on pro camera drones. That is a feature that is more useful than many realize. Anybody out there with a DJI drone, and in need of a hobby, look at major points of interest in your city and if there isn't an aerial 360 panorama in place already for a location, take one with your drone and post it on Google maps. Pretty soon you'll dominate the entire region because people like Aerial shots for those places better, almost universally. I'm up to 36 million views on Google maps for what was essentially a hobby where I would stop somewhere interesting after work on my way home. Now the entire front page for Eugene is full of [my shots](https://maps.app.goo.gl/4ejX4Etfk7GExQA8A?g_st=ac). It was fun.
Yeah idk I've owned an air 2 and 3, and now I own a Fimi mini 3 and an X8 tele max... I don't find myself longing to get the air 3 again. I'd say across all specs, the air 3 wins but picture quality is the same to most people and the Fimi's zoom is sweet, as is the weatherproofing. I miss 360 panoramas though, very much. The value winner is Fimi, hands down. I got my tele max new for $450 lmao.
I taped an object to my Mavic Air2, and it did not like it. Don't know if maybe I covered a sensor, but the stability was going crazy, and I was lucky I landed it in one piece.
I’m a part 107 drone pilot, some hobby shoots and a little bit of commercial work on the side with some weddings and real estate stuff. Went to my local camera shop and they told me good luck trying to buy a DJI drone. My current drone (Mavic Air 2) has a bunch of errors with the gimbal, and I’m not sure if it’s even worth sending to DJI to get repaired within a reasonable time. 2 questions… 1. Is it even remotely possible to get a drone from DJI right now? 2. If so - what drone is best? Mavic Pro 3? Hold out for the 4 Pro that may come to the states? Go with an off brand/not DJI drone? *photo from some work doing a wedding in Alaska*
Charging would be an issue, as i dont know of any drones that charge wirelessly. You would have to manually change batteries as DJI batteries tend to discharge at a rather alarming rate when left sitting. Mine discharge about 10% a week after sitting on the shelf doing absolutely nothing. Granted, they are a little older (Mavic Air 2 and Mavic 3)
Just practice flying it above the trees/powerlines so there is nothing to hit. I started with a phantom 3 then Mavic air 2 as well as a range of other drones and I’ve never needed insurance. Filming a challenge/zipline course without 360deg cable detection was a little bit of pucker factor but I was fine. Getting up through trees to an open area requires some skill but get that competency by flying in increasingly complex environments starting with zero obstacles and taking it slow. You don’t need to navigate obstacles at 50km/hr+.
1. Yes 2. Canada 3. Up to $750 CAD for the right deal 4. Survey at work. Hobby drone/justify thermal drone purchase Been looking at a few new deals at Costco, Bestbuy and Amazon. [This DJI Mini 4k Drone Bundle](https://www.costco.ca/dji-mini-4k-drone-bundle.product.4000418924.html) from Costco seems like the best deal I have found locally at $400 This question I have is the used market seems to have some decent deals as well. Mavic Air 2 for 500 and a Mavic Air 2 for 600 with an extra battery, nicer case. Best to just buy new or take a shot on one of the used ones?
In my mind there’s no alternative to DJI. Does anyone else recommend other drones? I am looking to upgrade from my Mavic air 2.
I just got my first drone this week, it's a DJI Mavic Air 2, I haven't crashed it yet (I've flown 5-6 times). When i used RTH for the first time, my drone was also about to crash into my house, but i canceled and took control before it happened.
