you can't reflash the newer ones? I've bought a few used ones years ago and just flashed the firmware. a mavic pro and a could phantom 4s. well one phantom, I only have the one controller so I've yet to put the second one back together. I have all the parts, just haven't needed it since the first one is still going strong.

DJI minis are about the best you'll get. i don't have a mini but I'm still running my mavic pro platinum and a phantom 4. pretty sure the mini outperforms both of those

I wouldn't bother with a mavic pro personally. Batteries age like milk and if not used frequently or if used very often start losing capacity. Also the thing is not getting made anymore so getting new batteries is straight up impossible. Neo even has a better sensor.

r/djiWhich 3 DJI drones have been your favorite in your journey as a hobbyist?

Buy a mini or full-size 2/3 (used) that you don't care about crashing. First 250.00 300.00 If you're going to be doing any selfie type stuff you're going to need a pro because the non-pro models do not have follow and the other features like that. I should say, not as many features like that I would stick with getting drones that are roughly the same size so they have the same flight characteristics. That being said if you were more experienced I would love to have a small, medium, and large. small for fun portability, medium for just getting some pictures here and. large for really good cinematic stuff. When I'm talking size I mean both physical size and size of cost Fortunately DJI stuff is really easy to fly until it just flies away on you. Which has been known to happen. This is all based on the mavic mavic pro type drones I haven't bought a new drone in 5 years. So take it for what it's worth. That being said anything DJI has as far as drones you will be able to fly very easily with no problems. I would recommend it calibrating it every single time you take it out. At least until you get used to Flying it because if for some reason it's not calibrated and you don't know how to fly it you are never bringing that thing back. I'm curious if you buy one now and something happens to it will Best Buy still warranty it. Things like that I have questions about and then service in the future. I know they will still have support. But if you can't import DJI parts going to be hard to fix. Anyway I digress good luck enjoy

The Mavic Pro series has variable aperture. Otherwise you can use ND filters to lower the shutter speed if that's your goal.

Drive to Canada and just buy another one if I crash my air 3. I also still have my old mavic pro as a backup which still mostly works.

400 for first mavic pro is rather high, is it with fly more kit? I see a bit newer Air2 fly more for 400 in my area, and mavic pro with hard case but no kit for 250

This is same for most drones. My mavic pro died and camera/gimbal is useless now

r/djiBest drone for ski filming?

Looking to buy a drone for filming skiing/snowmobiling. Used a mavic pro for a while and enjoyed it, but it was feeling dated and is large and cumbersome. It finally broke and I got the Skydio 2 when it came out and was great for ridge shots and mellow slower following. I think I’m ready to upgrade to something else and overwhelmed by options and opinions in which direction to go. I’m leaning towards the mini 5 pro because it’s compact/light, shoots in vertical platform for social media, and seems to be capable enough speed wise to keep the rider in the shot. I’ve had people suggest that I use the air3s because of its better resistance to wind and the telephoto lens (which I don’t think I’ll use much), but I’m hesitant because a lot of my filming will be backcountry where size/weight is one of the largest issues. Any thoughts? Some people are just saying to buy the mini pro 3 or 4 but with how hard it is to get dji products right now it’s not that much cheaper to get the 4. Thanks!

It entirely depends on what drone you are getting. If you buy a DJI magic for around 2k you will be able to fly it the first day, it has all kinds of tech to keep it from crashing. If you get something cheap you will most likely crash the hell out of it bc it won't have all the stuff that flies for you. I recommend buying something cheap and crashing it until you learn how to fly it. Then get something more expensive. It will take a little while to learn how to fly it but very rewarding once you do. The toughest part is learning to be really subtle with the throttle

I don't care DJI burned me when I bought a Mavic Pro and then they dropped the app support and made it to where I couldn't fly my drone anymore.
