"I fly 7 kms and then another 7 kms back with my mini 4 pro and no signal loss, with the smaller battery. ... With the plus battery it’ll do 9 or 10 kms each way."
"it actually holds up to 50 mins of fly time with the intelligence batteries"
"52 mins battery? Really? ... Damn alright. ... Currently using the mini 3 and get around 30 mins so 55 would be almost double lol"

"The 5 has a larger sensor which would make it better in low light. ... You would get less noise at higher iso."
"Low-light performance is decent enough for the light levels I fly in (never darker than twilight)."

"The mavic 4 pro and the mini 5 pro are the last DJI drones to receive FCC clearance. ... new DJI drones will not receive authorization in the US to fly. ... They will be added to a ban list and blacklisted from operating under FCC frequencies and RID rules. ... You will only be able to fly as a tourist and you will not be able to register or fly them commercially or recreationally as a citizen."
"But if you are in the United states if you want to fly it dawn or dusk (30mins before sunrise and 30s after sunset) you would need to add an RID module and an air collision strobe light. That would put it over 250 grams and you would have to register it. (The rule is weight at takeoff). If you wanted to fly at night you would need to get a waiver from the FAA."

Pretty huge improvement IMHO. Mini 4 Pro vs Mini 5 Pro [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T\_qZORjzSHw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_qZORjzSHw)
r/dji • Now that we've all seen actual footage of the Mini 5 Pro's camera, is it really that big of an improvement? ->I just bought mine in us this week on Amazon came in 1 day so I don't see any problems here
r/dji • DJI Mini 5 Pro first look ->I bought mine from the dji store on Amazon in New York last week. No issues
r/dji • DJI Mini 5 Pro first look ->I already have one in my hands. Can't wait to fly tomorrow 🤙
r/dji • Its out! ->I was not able to use the Goggles 3 with the new Mini 5 Pro. All devices are on the latest firmware version and the Goggles 3 only shows the option to connect to the Mini 4 Pro. I'll guess/hope DJI will release a FW update to support the Mini 5 Pro soon.
r/dji • Its out! ->Get a mini 5 pro then, it’s right around the corner. Unless you are in the USA then Mini 4 pro is your only option except if you don’t mind doing extra logistics or a quick international trip
r/dji • DJI Mini 5 Pro first look ->Honestly the mini 4k is a good little entry level drone. It’s cheap, fun, and it works. Really, the drones between the mini 4k and the mini 5 aren’t big enough jumps for the price difference. The mini 3 is better than the mini 4k, but not *that* much better. The mini 4 is better, but then you might as well spend a few hundred more on the mini 5. There are other drones between that, like the Air 3s, that are a decent middle ground. But if you’re going to spend over $1k, why not just go to the mini 5. That’s just my opinion though.
r/dji • What drone should I buy? ->I looked at my mini 1 2.4k footage that I upres to 4k and did the usual YouTube tricks which is increase sharpness and h264 format etc and man I was thinking in the day the footage looks great on my tv. I think the best feature of the mini 5 is the mid tele. I have the pocket 3 and it’s legit zooms in without reducing quality. So I think that’s the best creative tool that it added without having to add a tele lens. With that said. With its new heavier weight, in some countries it needs to be registered meaning you should get an air3s instead.
r/dji • Now that we've all seen actual footage of the Mini 5 Pro's camera, is it really that big of an improvement? ->Just bought this, we'll see. https://a.co/d/17OY5xM For the price, I'm happy to add an extra battery and the rc2 controller myself
r/dji • Mini 5 Pro back in stock on Amazon US. ->I have the OG Mavic and most of the specs for the Mini 5 are better. I'd go with that IMO
r/djimavic • First Drone what should i go with ? ->I got the mini 5 pro but went with the cell phone controller because the pricing was insane. Is it possible to get a RC2 remote for it? I just am not seeing them. Also got the small batteries. Are the after market batteries any good? Thanks in advance for your replies
r/dji • Rip Americans ->Mini 5 Pro. Think about for how many years and how often you are going to fly it. At 100 flights it is €11.49 per flight. At 500 flights it is €2.30 per flight 😎
r/dji • What drone should I buy? ->I have the mini 4 and 5 but haven’t had a chance to put the 5 through its paces. I’m hoping the Mini 5 has less artefacts and a bit better detail. The mini 3 and 4 are both noisy out of camera, even at 100 iso. I run the ai noise reduction in lightroom and it improves the quality substantially. They’re never going to be the best image quality; but for the weight they are, the image quality is quite remarkable.
r/dji • Now that we've all seen actual footage of the Mini 5 Pro's camera, is it really that big of an improvement? ->Consider the weight restrictions for flight, resilience to faster wind speeds and carry weight. I'd go mini pro 5 for purely practical purposes on all the above points.
r/drones • Air 3S vs waiting for Mini 5 Pro – which makes more sense for travel & landscapes? ->I expected autonomous flight modes like in the flip. For me it has been an absolute disappointment. For many of us who are not film or photography professionals, the 4 pro's camera was already good enough so this drone represents absolutely no advance compared to the previous one (except for the LiDAR sensor, which is not a panacea either). Autonomous flight modes in the style of the flip or the Neo would have been a real leap in quality but DJI has not wanted to include them (in my opinion, wrongly) so as not to step on the markets of those other drones. I had been waiting for this improvement for a year and now that I see that DJI has completely ignored us, I have to say that I will return the device because it seems to me that it is worth going from 4 to 5 paying the extra cost that it entails. Shame on DJI for passing up this magnificent opportunity with the sole objective of making lower categories profitable. They even put the side button with that functionality in mind and then they regretted it. It is something that could be perfectly included in software, but they simply don't want to because they take us for fools and want to make fun of us. I am going to return the 5 pro and I will not buy any DJI product again as long as I see that they continue to apply these types of policies designed more for money than for the consumer. (Adding this functionality does not mean increasing a single gram of weight, it is simply adding it via software but they have not been able to listen to us) a big ZERO for DJI that is beginning to adopt practices in the purest Apple style of Tim Cook
r/dji • Now that we've all seen actual footage of the Mini 5 Pro's camera, is it really that big of an improvement? ->Keep in mind that Lidar is only on the front, for all other angles it is the same with mini 4 pro. One more point that I have noticed is that the gimbal is tied to two thin plastic arms in mini 5 pro, mini 4 pro seems to be much more covering the gimbal and camera assembly for this aspect. On a mild crash mini 4 pro may be more tolerant. All in all I will keep my mini 4 pro and see if mini 6 pro is worth the upgrade.
r/dji • Its out! ->FWIW, I ordered the $1,099 RC2 combo from AirFoto on Friday night, and received it Saturday morning. I received a factory sealed unit and had no issues activating.
r/dji • Mini 5 Pro back in stock on Amazon US. ->I do not think it is covered by any US warranty from DJI. After activating, neither care or refresh show up as available in the DJI fly app or website. I opted to buy the 2 year asurion warranty from Amazon as a backstop if the drone is damaged such that I can’t repair it myself.
r/dji • Mini 5 Pro back in stock on Amazon US. ->I view my drones as cameras with 120m tripods. :-) Depending on where you live, being under 250g may make a large difference in both where you can fly and what licensing you need. The Mini 5 Pro is quite possibly over that limit\* and while some jurisdictions may be relaxed about a few grams difference some aren't. I have a Mavic 2 Pro (which has a 1" sensor and Hasselblad camera), a Mini 3 Pro, and a new (unused) Mini 5 Pro — and I'm thinking that the 5 might have been a mistake (because where I live (Canada) the weight is a factor). It may end up replacing my infrequently-used Mavic for trips out to the boonies where I can legally fly it. I almost never shoot video. It's a different way of thinking which I haven't mastered. A good retirement project to look forward to, though. The camera on my Mini 3 Pro is good enough to take photos that I've enlarged and hung on my wall, not to mention sold. Low-light performance is decent enough for the light levels I fly in (never darker than twilight). Good call on the fly-more kit. You'll want extra batteries and props, and the carrying bag is nice. If you opt for a Mini 3/4 Pro get a better screwdriver than comes with the kit. Get the version with the RC Controller with the built-in screen. Less faffing around with cables, keeps your phone free for other tasks (and you don't have to remember to turn off notifications so you don't get distracted while flying), and doesn't run your phone down. \*Officially 249.9 g +/- 4 g.
r/dji • Talk me out of getting a drone ->Get the Mini 2 (used) or a Mini 4k. These drones are identical. You won’t need obstacles detection or the enhanced transmission range on the beach/sea. This generation is inexpensive and easy to replace. If you feel like you want more you can always upgrade to a Mini 5 Pro next year. Don’t get the Mini 2 SE.
r/dji • Which drone for a surfer? ->I'd for the m4p or m5p just for the obstacle sensing, is very helpful when starting out, also the RC2 is really worth it, makes the whole experience more enjoyable, and you'd want to fly more often
r/dji • Best beginner drone ->Lost my Mini 2 yeaterday after 4 good years 😭 It rested at a beautiful place in the mountains, a fitting end after all the beautiful pictures and videos. I'll wait for the mini 5 pro launch and get it. Otherwise it's still a very good drone
r/dji • Dji Mini 5 pro & Neo 2 spotted on the FCC listing ->https://preview.redd.it/xf2iifi303rf1.jpeg?width=4085&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=da11b23db4f4928f48bc851b4febd84bded630bc Here's a night shot with the Mini 5 Pro I would say it's actually quite a bit better in low light. I could never do this shot before with the 4!
r/dji • Now that we've all seen actual footage of the Mini 5 Pro's camera, is it really that big of an improvement? ->Same here. Owned both. Sold the m4k. M4k is a mini 2 with a new camera. Mini 3 is a much better drone. More than enough for casual/ hobby use. Mini 5 is a better drone but has a higher price. I'll stick with the mini 3
r/dji • Best beginner drone ->Two Mini 5 Pro's tested and both have to a varying decree soft corners and decentered lens. Especially apparent in 50mp mode, which is one of the key selling points according to DJI.
r/dji • Now that we've all seen actual footage of the Mini 5 Pro's camera, is it really that big of an improvement? ->I got mine from Walmart, and on the ship website it says my warranty is good for one year
r/dji • Mini 5 Pro back in stock on Amazon US. ->After watching the video, I would say it's not a lot larger than a Mini 4 Pro. The still is a bit deceptive. But its camera is bigger to accommodate the big sensor so the front mantle area is larger to accommodate it, plus the additional sensors. For me the sub 250g is not a big deal but I know for some it is. Either way, it looks killer.
r/dji • Mini 4 Pro vs Mini 5 Pro camera size side by side comparison. This is crazy. ->Mini is incredible for the size & weight in your bags, but imo, having the 70mm lens is well worth carrying the air 3s for. It just opens up far more possibilities. It's probably my favourite focal length to shoot with on my drones
r/drones • Air 3S vs waiting for Mini 5 Pro – which makes more sense for travel & landscapes? ->It’s not just dusk. It’s how it’s able to handle shaded areas during the day and its dynamic range. And the 5 is blowing it out of the water
r/dji • Now that we've all seen actual footage of the Mini 5 Pro's camera, is it really that big of an improvement? ->I went with Mini 5 Pro few days ago. Went to the DJI shop, tested all the cheaper drones (both that you mentioned) and it was just not worth going with m4k or neo. Go with Mini 5 Pro you will not regret. Also you can save a lot on choosing rc-n3 controller and using your phone for visuals.
r/dji • Best beginner drone ->Ebay offers warranty through AllState. I know because I purchased one from South Korea last week.
r/dji • Mini 5 Pro back in stock on Amazon US. ->Got mine!! Getting delivered Saturday. Excited af
r/dji • Mini 5 Pro back in stock on Amazon US. ->You're gonna love it. And the mini 5 pro would definitely be the best bang for your buck. You can get phone apps to practice flying and after a little while it becomes second nature. Just stay far away from objects while you're learning.
r/dji • Talk me out of getting a drone ->Either is fine for the most part if you’re not pixel peeping. The 5 has a larger sensor which would make it better in low light. You would get less noise at higher iso. But if you are in the United states if you want to fly it dawn or dusk (30mins before sunrise and 30s after sunset) you would need to add an RID module and an air collision strobe light. That would put it over 250 grams and you would have to register it. (The rule is weight at takeoff). If you wanted to fly at night you would need to get a waiver from the FAA. So if you’re not shooting in low light the 4 pro would be fine.
r/dji • What drone should I buy? ->On the 19th I ordered the Fly More Combo with the N3 remote for $959. Then I saw the DJI Official Store listing for the DJI Mini 5 Pro Fly More Combo with the RC2 touchscreen remote for $1,099, so I ordered that too. It was supposed to arrive today (San Francisco), but now it says: > “Now arriving tomorrow — previously expected October 21. We’re sorry for the delay.” I’m hoping I actually get the RC2 version — and if there’s a shortage, maybe I’ll just hold onto it. The real question is: how is Amazon getting these units so early? I’ve seen posts this week saying some Amazon listings might be “grey market.” I’ve personally shipped 20- and 40-foot containers from China (electric scooters, Surrons, unicycles, batteries, etc.) and I know how freight forwarders sometimes “work magic” on customs paperwork to minimize exposure and tariffs. So I’m curious — come Christmas, is this N3 Fly More going to be rare as a unicorn, or will more of them magically appear in the U.S.? I’ve checked with several of my contacts in China. They can get me the DJI Amflow e-MTB and parts, but not the drones. Would love to hear from anyone familiar with what’s really going on — especially if you have insight into DJI’s export or distribution channels. Also, if anyone has a legit source in China to “bring in” DJI drones, DM me.
r/dji • Mini 5 Pro back in stock on Amazon US. ->Most likely a scam. They supply a fake tracking number for next day shipping, then ghost and then Amazon waits a few days then refunds you. Meanwhile drone store gets their weekly or daily payout then store gets banned. Many scams like this. Human greed allows these too good to be true stories. Fyi, I ordered 2 from different sellers. The tracking has not updated and was supposed to be next day shipping. I know I'll be protected, but even I know this is too good to be true. Who knows. Could get lucky? Mini 5 pro fly more with nd filters for 800? Edit... On the 19th I ordered the Fly More Combo with the N3 remote for $959. Then I saw the DJI Official Store listing for the DJI Mini 5 Pro Fly More Combo with the RC2 touchscreen remote for $1,099, so I ordered that too. r/dji • Mini 5 Pro back in stock on Amazon US. ->The m4p is considerably larger than the mini 2 series drones, so the mini 2 would be about half the size of the m5p https://preview.redd.it/ou2qv1boyxof1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fd152ab6e065fe9e44a55465c3139441d9819ae1
r/dji • Mini 4 Pro vs Mini 5 Pro camera size side by side comparison. This is crazy. ->Especially when the 5 is the same price and quite a bit better
r/dji • 🇦🇺 Costco Melbourne with a wall of DJI Mini 4Pro — kind of jealous of how Australia hasn’t killed off personal hobbies yet ->DJI Mini 5 Pro Fly More Combo Plus with DJI RC 2, Drone with Camera, 1-Inch CMOS, 4K Drone for Beginners, Obstacle Sensing, ActiveTrack 360°, 225° Gimbal Rotation, Extended Battery Life [https://a.co/d/0jEHzfv](https://a.co/d/0jEHzfv)
r/dji • Mini 5 Pro back in stock on Amazon US. ->I'm in the states and pre-ordered my mini 5 from 102store on ebay. They claim all the customs fees / tariffs are covered in the stated price of (approx.) $1200. I have a tracking number now. Very hopeful. I bought the 3 year Allstate accident coverage that ebay offers with the purchase. Now I just need to find a good source for extra batteries since none of the South Korea sellers seem to have them listed yet.
r/dji • Brimming with resentment ->I’m considering it. Just got the mini 5 pro.
r/drones • With the ban hitting December 24th, would you guys buy a DJI drone now while you still can? ->If you're a pro needing low light images, bingo but it's not a huge thing for most of us. I kept my FPV when got my Avata 1 when got my 2 and my Mav 1 when I got the Pro and both of them when I got the Mavic 4 Pro, I got a Neo and a Mini 4 Pro but I won't be going through the hassle and cost of a Mini 5 Pro. I have enough till...they come up with a true optical zoom lens or I break one of mine but in the current conditions I am flying more carefully than ever...slower through forests...less over water...
r/dji • Now that we've all seen actual footage of the Mini 5 Pro's camera, is it really that big of an improvement? ->Great find. Snagged one too. Supposed to be delivered Friday.
r/dji • Mini 5 Pro back in stock on Amazon US. ->Potato Jet did some good comparisons between M4P and M5P in image quality and low light filming / shadows. https://youtu.be/Gvsv0HzXihM. Medium tele actually provides a better quality image than zooming in to 2x it seems.
r/dji • Its out! ->I have an Air 2s as well but I'm going to keep it for now for the improved stability in wind... The M5P might be rated higher but the 2s is over twice the weight which helps a ton.
r/dji • Its out! ->Sick me too. I'm in Atlantic Canada. It's windy af for over half the year out here. Lol. Guess I'll find out tomorrow once I fly them head to head.
r/dji • Its out!
r/dji • What is the best drone in the market currently? ->I would personally go with the mini 5 pro, I have one myself & had the mini 3 pro & 4 pro, the wind resistance on the 5 is great & the camera quality is pretty impressive! it actually holds up to 50 mins of fly time with the intelligence batteries
r/dji • Asking for advice - First Drone - DJi Mini 4 pro vs Dji Mini 5 pro ? ->Habe meine Flip schon verkauft für die 5 pro ;-)
r/dji • DJI Mini 5 Pro first look ->Mini 5 Pro Fly More Plus was delivered successfully here in Texas. The seller was MUQQQ. Sealed box. I was able to register it correctly. Thanks for the tip!
r/dji • Mini 5 Pro back in stock on Amazon US. ->[https://store.dji.com/dk/product/dji-mini-5-pro?vid=199551](https://store.dji.com/dk/product/dji-mini-5-pro?vid=199551) You will NOT regret! I'm using this setup, and love it. No phone hassle at all, it's really simple and easy. What you pay, is what you get... Ask your wife this: Cheap fake leather bag, or a Gucci bag?
r/dji • Best beginner drone ->I've only maxed my DJI M5P to 75 m of altitude, out of 120m. I'm too scared of bird strikes and splash back to ground level .. :D
r/dji • A quick trip to the clouds with the Mavic 4 Pro Creator. ->Arrived today after buying off Amazon on Sunday. Delivered via Amazon. Packaging perfect. https://preview.redd.it/wmomvjon2jwf1.png?width=4057&format=png&auto=webp&s=ba77ed9de898509a078a1fb4b0d6f7f246d9efe1
r/dji • Mini 5 Pro back in stock on Amazon US. ->great find - was about to order one off Ebay but purchased this instead. Arrives tomorrow. Wanted the Fly More Combo Plus, but only one on there was $2k. As others have mentioned, feel confident buying this via Amazon.
r/dji • Mini 5 Pro back in stock on Amazon US. ->Yep I cancelled the non-plus order and placed a new order for a plus. Arrives Tuesday.
r/dji • Mini 5 Pro back in stock on Amazon US. ->How does the 2x zoom work? There's only one lens so it should be a digital crop? The images from the M5P are so much better than the M4P with the zoom though
r/dji • Now that we've all seen actual footage of the Mini 5 Pro's camera, is it really that big of an improvement? ->Since the SDK is not released, the only way to automatically fly missions is using the DJI native waypoint feature. There are many workflows to get a custom mission loaded as a waypoint file, IIRC Dronelink has a feature to load a native waypoint mission using their platform. Here is my high level workflow for photogrammetry on the Mini 5 Pro, its completely free and only takes a few minutes once all set up: \- Completely free \- Photos taken at waypoints, not using the timed photo technique \- Terrain following Map Geometry Generation - [https://ancient.land/](https://ancient.land/) (Custom Mini 5 Pro profile) -> Export kml Mission Generation - Import kml -> [https://flylitchi.com/hub](https://flylitchi.com/hub) (not the new beta hub), setup waypoint actions to take a picture, terrain following -> Export csv Convert to DJI native waypoints - Import CSV -> [https://www.litchiutilities.com/litchiToDji.php](https://www.litchiutilities.com/litchiToDji.php) (Dont use straight lines, the drone will slow down at each waypoint if that is enabled) -> Export kml Load the mission onto the controller (Preferably the RC-N3 w/Phone for better performance with large missions) There is a lot of flexibility in the Litchi (Mission Generation) step, you can setup an orbit around a building, or point of interest. There is lots of resources for creating all types of automatic missions using the Litchi platform. The Mini 5 is great for hobby projects, it is able to fly at 15m/s will full obstacle avoidance while performing automatic native waypoint missions.
r/UAVmapping • Architectural photogrammetry with DJI Mini 5 Pro ->Mini 5 pro. Wide shots are what’s typically used in real estate.
r/drone_photography • Best drone for professional photography? ->The mavic 4 pro and the mini 5 pro are the last DJI drones to receive FCC clearance. This means (unless the government gets off their ass, audits DJI and explicitly approves of their security measures... which they won't for political reasons) new DJI drones will not receive authorization in the US to fly. They will be added to a ban list and blacklisted from operating under FCC frequencies and RID rules. You will only be able to fly as a tourist and you will not be able to register or fly them commercially or recreationally as a citizen. The ban isn't on sales, its a ban on operational ability. DJI Care is not available for users in the US, and they must be shipped back to the country they were purchased in to take advantage of the Care refresh. Claims made from the US from drones bought in Korea, Europe, Australia, etc are invalid and DJI will not honor them unless you can return them to the origin country before claiming refresh care.
r/drones • What us the current alternative to DJI? ->You need to provide some more information, but generally speaking: 1) If you are wanting to fly with minimal or no licensing/registration requirements and in neighborhoods (depending where you live), then your only choice is the Mini series. The Mini 5 Pro is expected later this year with a significant upgrade to a 1" sensor, otherwise Mini 4 Pro is the way to go there. 2) If you don't plan on doing much post processing and if your client delivery resolution is 4K or below (I'm guessing it's 1080P or less for real estate work), then you will not be using what you are paying for in the large 4/3 sensor Mavic 3 (Mavic 4 will be announced in April, just around the corner here). In that case, go with the Air 3S for the 1" sensor which also matches the sensor size of your P4P. The Air 3S is the best overall drone on the market right now by far, assuming you do not have very specific requirements and aren't doing advanced editing on 10bit LOG footage needing every last drop of DR. I imagine whatever licensing/permissions you need to fly your P4P in neighborhoods will carry over, so that side of things might not be an issue at all for you. 3) If you are an advanced user doing heavy post processing and extracting every last little bit of detail and dynamic range out of your shots, and always shoot 10bit LOG, then the 4/3 sensor from the Mavic 3 or upcoming 4 might appeal to you. The M3 can also shoot in 5.4K if you need resolution greater than 4K for anything. The stills photos are also better than the quad bayer 1" or 1/1.3" sensors used on the other drones. If you do any travelling to Europe, note that the cutoff there for 'relaxed' drone rules is 900g, and the Mavic series is heavier than that (Air series is below that threshold). It would be helpful to know a little more about your use case, specifically with your delivery requirements and how much post processing you do on both the photo and video side. If the end usage of all your work is web-sized images and low resolution video viewed on platforms that destroy the quality of it anyway, you don't need to pay up for a Mavic 3/4.
r/dji • Graduating from phantom 4 pro. What drone should I buy? ->mini 5 pro hands down. I upgraded from a mini 3 pro and the improvements are insane.
r/dji • What is the best drone that you have ever owned? ->Nope, that's the air3s. Just ordered the mini5pro now, so yeah 😁
r/dji • Its out! ->Yes, that's true. But I don't live in windy areas and use the drone mostly for some quick travel photos. I just ordered the mini 5 pro now
r/dji • Its out! ->Get the 5 mate heaps better and it will last for ages with good tech Just find beautiful spots everywhere the beach trees rivers it’s fun to shoot and vid
r/drones • Can anyone give me a reasonable take on getting into drones as a hobby? ->Received my fly more kit I ordered Friday. Brand new and everything looks great. Went onto my Amazon order and added the 3 year accidental damage plan for $119. Love the way the mini 5 looks. Had a Mavic Air 1, upgraded to a Mini 3 last month, but sent it on the Mini 5 Pro when I saw it pop up as a drone I will keep for years hopefully and do whatever I need it to. https://i.imgur.com/3fnnkUy.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/QHJjrkT.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/i0EMCHt.jpeg
r/dji • Mini 5 Pro back in stock on Amazon US. ->Some drones can fly in FPV mode and could add 4G…like mini 4 or mini 5 pro and could do this distance even without 4G
r/dji • If this was flown by a drone, that's way too far? ->As a beginner emphasizing on videos, you have two best options: (i) Mini 4 (or 5) Pro, if you're okay with on camera; or (ii) Air 3s if you prefer to also have a telephoto. In my experience (I've had two drones in my life, one with and one without a telephoto), I'd certainly need one. But everyone thinks differently. The prices of these two are not that much different, so I'd suggest you choose based on that feature.
r/dji • What is the best drone in the market currently? ->DJI anything is more or less the answer. They have their quirks, but everything else comes with less support and more caveats. If you’re just starting out, a Mini is perfect.
r/drone_photography • Photography lovers, what's the best drone with camera you've used? ->You are smart to stay away from all of the drones that have sponsored reviews. Buying a drone is fairly easy: 1. Disregard anyone who tells you to buy a cheap drone first "to learn on". That's a complete waste of money. 2. In the U.S., buy DJI or Autel. I have specimens of both and find that Autel is just a little behind the curve, but not by much. DJI typically has much, much better after sales support than Autel. 3. Spend as much as you are comfortable spending. Don't hold back. 4. You can get a brand-new DJI Mini 4K for about $300... but that won't have extra batteries or a remote control with a screen (you'll have to use a smart phone or a tablet as your screen). Even though the battery claim may be 40 minute flight per battery charge, you're really only going to get 20 to 30 minutes. Get at least 3 batteries with your purchase. Adding an RC with a screen to the this package will get you close to $1K, new. 5. DJI MIni (or Autel Nano, or any drone under 250 grams) will allow you to travel to more international destinations and fly legally. That small weight also helps limit fatigue or space for carrying. 6. If you do not plan to travel outside the US, no need to limit your drone to the less than 250 gram category. VERY generally speaking, the heavier, the less affected by winds. That is, a Mavic 3 Pro at nearly 900 grams will handle higher winds and will handle better in winds than a 249 gram mini. 7. Right now the best drone over 250 grams is probably the DJI Air3s. Others will have differing opinions with this and all of the above. 8. These are not exhaustive guidelines but will provide you a start. We haven't even begun to talk about the need for Remote ID capability, for example. 9. So many options, so little time. Enjoy!
r/drones • Drone recommendations ->It depends where you are coming from. Own three DJI drones which each have a unique purpose. If had none, would probably decide between the Flip and Mini. But for those who already have a DJI there’s no real selling point to get this
r/dji • why so much hate for Flip ->Until you've flown a DJI...you haven't flown. Get a Mini. Any generation. That's where you start.
r/drones • is it better to start off with cheap drones? ->They are very easy to fly and so the prop guards shouldn't be an issue. I'd go for at least the mini - if you can stretch to it the Mavic 3 (a used original Mavic 3 isn't massively more than a Mini 4 new). Though also, it sounds like just getting APS-C or even full frame camera and doing it by hand/cheap wire kit might produce even better results.
r/drones • Best drone for low-altitude photography/video of gardens and landscapes ->Start with a DJI Mini, you won’t regret it
r/drones • is it better to start off with cheap drones? ->Honestly, to the eyes of the public, the Mavic isn't much more impressive than the mini. If you want to look serious, you need an Inspire or an M300. But that's 500% overkill for OP's use cases.
r/dji • Do I need a bigger drone for commercial use? ->That camera will be really low quality, barely usable, and the range will be very short. And despite all the advertising, it will still be difficult to fly, so he’ll probably end up crashing it pretty quickly. I would recommend getting a really cheap indoor drown he can play around with without a camera you do t have to worry if he crashes, or a more expensive drone like a DJI Neo, which is actually kind of useful but you can’t control, or a DJI Mini which I would suggest supervising while he flies.
r/drones • No-phone drone for a kid ->The DJI Mini series of drones really blurs the line between toy and hobby grade. The big difference, as with ordinary cameras, is the size of the senor it uses for capturing images. The smaller drones use something akin to the sensor in a middle of the road mobile phone. Phones can take pretty good image these days, coupled with the unique aerial view means those drones can take nice looking images, certainly good enough for social media. The bigger drones have bigger sensors and shot in RAW modes that allow for a lot of post processing to get really good looking images suitable for printing. But there's extra work involved in getting the best out of those images/video. If your not already shooting RAW and LOG with a dedicated camera you probably won't be able to appreciate the difference those features bring.
r/drones • What's the difference between hobby and toy grade drones? ->Performance wise the mini is practically on par with the bigger drones. But it's camera just isn't good enough for anyone into image quality. I've made the switch from mini 2, to Mavic pro 3.
r/drones • What's the difference between hobby and toy grade drones? ->DJI mini "whatever is in the budget".
r/drones • /r/drones Drone Buying Advice Megathread ->I’d pick the Avata 2 for close inspection (within inches), and with head tracking it’s easy to look up under the soffits or down a chimney. I was actually doing this yesterday with the Neo, could get right up to there with on the 3rd floor and look in, bumping not a problem because propeller guards. I looked at a previous valet patch repair closely, saw a couple shingles that are possibly starting to slide. Went up the roof, probably with a clearance of 3”, and after going over the peak went to the chimney and looked down. Bumped another part of the roof and it crashed in the box gutter, but luckily I could take off again. With DJI Care, replacement for the Neo is only $29, so I don’t have to worry much. (Avata would only cost $49, but I’ve already used 2/4, and would prefer to not be without it for a week.) If you don’t want to get close and are okay with being feet away, then a mini is probably okay. Propeller guards might be good for cases where there are nearby trees or cables. Here’s an example of getting close, with head tracking, and being able to look up or down, or turn your head while you fly past - https://youtu.be/D2ygkUlsemQ?si=kswV-c1XyN1lYi-h
