Personally, I'd go for the Neo 2. I was excited about the Flip until I found that there'd be no FPV support. The Neo (1 & 2) have great support for many control options. Also more durable than the Flip. And a bargain! Also, it's always worth keeping an eye on the official refurbished stock. I got my Avata 2 that way. Full combo for the price of drone-only.

Never never never sell the weapon (unless u have another?) u never want to get caught off guard during conceal carry tho I think 9mm is too big for conceal carry imo. if u just won't use the drones I would sell them all. And wait for the neo2 in November because it's gonna be really good. Heck u will want to get a 2nd neo2 as a backup lol. That's what I'm doing. I sold mine waiting for the new neo 2.

I just grabbed the neo 2 and I'm so glad I got the remote with it.

I think I'm going to go pick mine up today. I'm just debating if I'll get it with or without the goggles 3.

I got it with the remote but no goggles. I'm kind of wishing that I got the goggles since the price was way lower but oh well. I'm still happy with the neo 2 and the remote.

The fpv controller 3 works just fine with the Neo 2 but only in sport and normal mode. Which are modes where the auto pilot helps you fly it. If you want full control yourself you need to flip it in to manual mode. And the Neo 2 firmware does not currently support that but the Neo does.

Love the Neo2 with all its features. Really like that fact that you can use it as a selfie drone (gesture control) but also have the option to upgrade to control it manually or even fly it FPV.

From the specs, yes. But like any given range, it's always over rated. The Hoverair X1 Pro is also rated at 500m with phone over wifi. But in reality (I had one), it's typicall between 150m and 300m. So I'm hoping to see real test for Neo 2. But even 150m is still much better than the first Neo that was like 15m in real tests. 150-250m is enough do so some landscape footage near your. This feature alone makes possible to hike or travel lightweight without a remote controller.

I suspect it's because of the camera changes. On the Neo 1, the gimbal is 1 axis and the cowling around ti sticks out far enough that even if you plow the Neo into a wall, the camera is mostly safe. But the Neo 2 has 2 axis and if you look at the pics, there is much less protection for the camera. TBH, I have the FPV3 and I found flying the Neo in manual mode amazingly painful (although disclosure - I am not a skilled FPV pilot and I have strong suspicions my Neo 1 may have had flight stability issues). It's possible DJI has decided to focus on the Neo 2 as a "consumer" drone and leave the FPV to the Avata... which is fine except that the Avata is way over the 250g weight limit. In fact, my gut suggests that they may be moving the Mini class up over 250g as "low end pro" devices for people who don't mind registering and getting certified, and positioning the Flip and Neo as their sub-250 consumer drones.

"Panorama mode: Not available" This makes me sad. I take a LOT of photosphere and panos with my Mini4Pro. I totally get why the Neo 1 was unusable for panos, but that's mainly because it wasn't powerful enough to stay still for long and the gimbal was 1 axis,,, but the Neo 2 fixes most of that. Maybe they'll add it later.

Edit: Here is my overview video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adQpTnrvyD8 As promised, here’s an update from my previous post. I’ll try to share a short video on my IG story tomorrow (currently in China with family — big dinner tonight 🍜). You can find me on Instagram at @untitledshot. For context, I’ve been flying drones and FPVs around the world for over 10 years. After a few flights today, I can say I’m genuinely impressed by this drone. It offers excellent value for the price, and if DJI adds M mode in the future, it could easily become a must-have. Of course, there are some clear limitations — but at this price point, it’s hard to complain. I hope to see DJI eventually releasing a “Pro” firmware with RAW photo support and a flat color profile, which would make it an ideal travel companion. Hopefully, we’ll at least see M mode added for FPV users, which is the biggest drawback. Here are the response to your questions, starting with positives: 1. Stabilisation: The 3x stabilisation works incredibly well. Footage looks rock solid. 2. Obstacle avoidance: The 360° system is impressive. It followed my kids smoothly between trees without a hitch, even in follow mode 3. Video Image quality: Looks excellent in daylight, Since there’s no sensor crop for stabilisation, it should outperform the Neo. The wide angle makes it very good for action, better than the Avata 2. Main drawback is the lack of flat profile. 3. Field of view: Slightly narrower than the Avata 2, but still wide enough for cinematic shots. ND filters are recommended for fast movement. 4. Photos: JPEG only, 12MP. 5. Max resolution: 16:9 only, with no open gate. 6. Panorama mode: Not available. 7. Manual flight: Not currently supported. 8. Controller rates: Quite aggressive out of the box and could use some tuning. 9. The screen on the drone I very useful to switch modes. Comparing with drones: DJI Neo vs Neo 2: The Neo 2 brings major upgrades with obstacle avoidance and a 3x stabilised gimbal. These improvements easily outperform the original Neo and make it a significant step forward. DJI Neo 2 vs Flip: The Flip delivers slightly better image quality but has a narrower field of view. Choose the Flip if you’re after cinematic shots similar to the Mini series. The lack of RAW video is lacklustre on the Neo 2. Go for the Neo 2 if you prefer something closer to an FPV-style experience. DJI Neo 2 vs Avata 2: The Neo 2 isn’t a mini Avata 2 — there’s currently no Manual (M) mode, so don’t expect that kind of control just yet. Anyway I’ll update when I have the footage uploaded. Hope this provide some value. Will update tomorrow Joss - @untitledshot
