I got the Skyrover S1 and it might be worth considering if you’re worried about shipping issues. Mine arrived without any issues, and the price was a lot more reasonable than the Mini series. It’s been very beginner-friendly so far. The 4K video looks clean, the GPS has been stable, and the RTH has worked well for me. It’s also under 249g, which makes it super easy to bring along on trips or hikes.

I’d personally go with Skyrover S1. For someone new, the extra obstacle sensing makes a big difference. The forward and downward obstacle avoidance really help take the stress out of learning. RTH has also been solid and easy to trust.

Another thing I liked about Skyrover S1 is the transmission side. It’s rated for 12 km and the live feed can go up to 1080p/60fps, which feels noticeably smoother. ATOM 2 is 10 km and tops out at 1080p/30fps, and even the DJI Mini 4K is 10 km with 720p/30fps.

I’ve been testing a few other drones just in case the new rules hit harder. Skyrover has been surprisingly solid for the price. The S1’s GPS performance and RTH have been consistent, and the lightweight design makes it simple to take on trips. It might not be a one-to-one replacement for some high-end DJI models, but as an alternative that stays easy to buy and maintain in the U.S., it’s worth paying attention to.

I can vouch for the SkyRover S1. Great little drone, excellent app (cough, DJI Fly clone, cough) and at only $269 for a drone with obstacle avoidance and 4K 60 that’s pretty great.

I ordered my SkyRover S1 this morning. It gets here Tuesday. Can't wait to fly it. It's supposed to be a cross between a mini 4K and a mini three. It's got the 4K camera, but has obstacle avoidance and active track.

SkyRover S1. Better deal than all of them, developed by DJI.

All featured with the S1. The app and features are DJI clones.

I don’t think it has Dolly Zoom. My Bad. It does have obstacle avoidance and shoots in 4K 60 and has the other quick shots you mention and Hyperlapse. There’s a killer deal on Amazon for the drone with 3 batteries. Total DJI clone/Development/company to get around the embargo. SkyRover= DjI

Skyrover S1 could be a nice option to look into. It’s under 249 grams, so it’s very travel-friendly, and the controls are simple enough for someone who’s just starting out. The video quality is great for mobile content, and the recent U2 firmware update added vertical shooting and slow-motion, which is made for shooting reels. Mine arrived in 2-3 days since they ship locally in the US.

The skyrover s1 is light years in head of that ATOM 2. Have you not watched the youtube comparisons of the S1 being compared to the mini 4 pro? It's literally a DJI mini 4 *lite*. It's smashes the mini 3 pro and makes the mini 4k look like an ancient fossil. It's using Ocusync 4 for crying out loud. It has quad-bayer HDR, right from the drone it looks great, although not as clean as a mini 4 pro as far as noise because it's not using the advanced dual native iso and sensor size disadvantage. I have one and a mini 4k and the difference is huge. Read into it, watch some videos like [this one](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jtLFrSRCuHI&pp=ygULc2t5cm92ZXIgczE%3D) or [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afLWyJE1OVk&pp=ygULc2t5cm92ZXIgczE%3D)

I can second the S1. The three-battery bundle is super practical if she likes filming outdoors because it lasts through a full day without recharging. The drone folds down small, fits easily in a backpack pocket, and the obstacle sensing has worked well for me. For someone new to drones, it’s a comfortable and easy choice.

I hit that point when I compared DJI Mini 4K vs Skyrover S1. I assumed DJI would feel more “locked in,” but the S1 looked stronger where I actually notice it, range in open areas, image quality options, and especially battery life with the bundle. Once the non DJI option is doing the same job for less, I stop caring about the logo.

Skyrover might be a solid option. I have Skyrover S1 and it's surprisingly good for the price. You still get things like 4K video and responsive obstacle sensing, which I usually only see on higher-end drones. For anyone worried about what to switch to, it’s been a pretty reliable alternative in my experience.
