If you can save $80-$100 more dollars for shipping and batteries, I'd reccomend going with the Flywoo Flylens 85 O4 Pro version. I have the O3 version and it flies great indoor and outdoor. 87.5 grams without battery, over 100 grams with a battery. I fly with Flywoo's Explorer 1000mAH battery. Has the V2 version of their Goku F405 AIO with onboard ELRS. The O4 pro version is $360 without batteries. I've got a 5" and am really considering down sizing due to the space required to fly it. I'm not sure if 3.5" will reduce that enough. I think the O4 pro is the way to go because it seemed to have better penetration results in the Bardwell initial tests. I fly in treed areas, so lite will be a nogo for me just for that reason. That said, I have a 5" that functions perfectly fine, so I kinda wonder if I'd notice enough difference with 3.5" to make the cost worth it.

For the goggles 2 you can use any O3-compatible drone to establish the video signal. Then the radio link from the controller to the drone will depend on which system you prefer (this is independent from DJI). So you can go ELRS (many drones are O3 ready and ELRS, so you can easily get an ELRS controller like the radio master boxer or pocket and those also work well with simulators). For O3 compatible drones there are a bunch so it depends on what you want. Want something small for cruising? Get a small cine whoop like the Flylens85 or the Pavo20 (which I own); if you want smaller there is the Mobula8/pavo pico/darkstar20. All of those have good reviews so you can’t go wrong with any of them. Want something slightly bigger, the Cinebot25 is popular. Want long range? Flywoo explorer LR4 comes to mind. If you don’t mind going over 250g you will find dozens of other options, and more acro and long range drones.

My recommendation if you are starting today, is definitely get the radio first, and practice on the sim. I have a preference for DJI, since it has great quality video and range. The higher Latvia still low enough that you won’t have a problem with it starting out. For your first drone then I’d recommend starting of small. Like a 2s+ whoop with o4 light. They are really fun and can be flown just about anywhere. I do love my 5’’ but it takes so much time to get somewhere I can actually fly, I don’t end up doing it as often as I’d like.

More than the Pavo femto that’s for sure haha It’s no stunt drone. But I trust it for a waterfall dive more than the femto

I would recommend the flywoo flylens 85. It's a small drone and not meant for distance, but it's a lot of fun, decent flight time with the 750mah HV batteries, and will bounce off things when you crash instead of break like a 5" will.

It depends what you want to do. If you want to freestyle maybe a tinywhoop is good, but for me I get bored of doing flippy floppies in the park.  I want to go dive waterfalls and do general exploration outside so i went with an avata 2. It gets hated on here, but i quite like it. I also have a flylens 85 for doing loops in the park. eventually i may get a 5" or a 7". I know i'd have got bored of a tinywhoop almost immediately. Wind is a huge factor and it sucks not being able to do anything in a mild breeze.
