I'd start with a 2s Mobula 8. 1s is quite weak against any kind of wind, and flying indoors is very difficult for a newbie.

No mob8 is fragile and why would a newbie start on 2s? Its a pita to charge when you can get a air75 and whoopstor and fly constantly. I have 2 mob8s too but not really good for beginners

Get a air65 first, then a mob8 or a babyape2 for the days there’s good weather, practice with the air65, then when you feel like you know you won’t crash, upgrade! Bam

My progression was mob8 then I got a tiny whoop and learned way more with throttle control flying inside. I would suggest tiny whoop, mob 8, then crux35.

Depends what you want it for. Pure fun and don’t care about cinematography? Get a Cetus pro kit. Or a ELRS Mobula 6(inside) 7(hybrid) or 8(outside) with a ELRS radiomaster boxer controller. If you care more about cinematography then get a Mini 2 SE. if you get DJI care for 50$ a year they will replace it if you crash or lose it. I started off with Mini2 Se, realized it wasn’t enough for what I wanted it for. Bought a 5” FPV drone, way too much power and crashed it all the time. Then went to a Mobula 7. Instantly got so much better.

Just to counterbalance as I see mostly DJI choices, for you to know you have FPV oriented drones as well (Mobula 8, Baby Ape, Nazgul, etc). They are harder to fly but allow you to do any kind of movements/tricks you want. Like that: https://youtu.be/is9uEJCqhVo?si=6P_e1mjZ7q6UOFFE. DJI is great if you want to make nice videos in an assisted way and dont want to spend time learning to fly. Both are good choices, it is personal.

Radiomaster, simulator, learn about charging lipo batteries, and then a tiny whoop plus a battery charger and batteries of course. Go for a 2S tiny whoop like a Mobula 8, do it now!

Nooo not the Cetus X. If you were to buy a 2" whoop, look at the meteor 85 or the mobula 8. For an open frame quad you could look at the HGLRC Draknight as a cheap but decent fun flyer at a very similar size to the above. What sort of flying are you looking to do? None of the above are good for flying indoors btw.

Its fairly common for people on here to recommend getting a 75mm whoop as its half between a 65 (indoor) and 80 (outdoor) - however, I disagree with that advice. You end up with a whoop thats a bit too much of a handful inside, and not enough power or fun outside once you gain experience. And also, a 65mm whoop can be flown outside, just not if its windy. So if you want to fly indoors, I recommend a 65mm whoop such as the new 2024 Mobula 6. And then, next paycheque you could buy an 85mm whoop aswell. Once you've paid the initial outlay of the radio, goggles, charger e.t.c. it doesn't seem so expensive to buy a 2nd drone :P Also to mention, my first quad was a Meteor 75. It didn't take too long for me to get a meteor 65 pro, and a mobula 8 :D

Mob 8 may work, I have a naked 03 on my mob 8 and it flies well inside. Props out of view with 20°+

I thought this, o4 better than naked GoPro? Current arsenal is a mobula8 and a Nazgûl (defo not suitable 😂)

I recently started flying, and Mobula 8 is more than enough for me to learn. It can go very fast, quite high and it's super agile. I wouldn't fly anything heavier and more powerful at the beginning for my own and others safety. Also analog is great choice at the beginning. I got walksnail hd mob8, and it flies great until you crash it and you need to get a vtx module that's same price as analog mob8.

Why no tinywhoop? I also fly in Austria with my meteor 65 pro (mostly indoor) and my mobula 8 (only outdoor). It‘s perfect and not even close to 250g.

I started with a Meteor 75, then got a 75 Pro and finally went up to 2s with a Mob 8 and that's where I wish I had started. I like the meteors, but the mob 8 is quiet still and has so much oompf.

You can fly a mobula 8 around people if you have good control of it. I don't think it's an issue to be honest.

If you actually are using video for legit footage reasons you can def use a mob 8 but just dial in your throttle midpoint and throttle expo (average throttle number you see watching a replay you set midpoint to that) then dial expo. I do that for all my working rigs

My advice would be don't buy the ev800d they're massive and bulky, its the goggles that make or break your FPV experience, instead either save up and get 04x's/04xpros or go for the cobra X as the have a steadyview receiver and a 60fps DVR built in, then I'd say get a mobula8 to learn with ,as they're easy to repair no soldering required and have plenty of power, you can fly them anywhere meaning you'll get more opportunities to fly. then at look at something bigger or smaller

Mobula 6 is great indoor, Mobula 7 is great indoor and outdoor (backyard) flying. Mobula 8 is ok indoor, and great outdoor (backyard / park).

You are going to have trouble flying anything without protected props inside. Even a tiny air75 is a lot for inside without a lot of practice. I would build a nice 3inch for outside and get a tiny 66mm whoop for inside. Trust me, I csn fly knsude, flips, rolls racing etc. But just moving up to a 75mm will send me into the walls. A 75 or 85 mm would also work outside. 85mm like a mobula8 is 2inch protected props.

Get a Radiomaster Pocket ELRS, a Mobula 8 ELRS, Eachine EV800D and Liftoff Simulator. This will probably cost you less than $250. You can use Radiomaster Pocket via USB to practice in the simulator while improving your flying skills in real life with the Mobula. You will still have tons of fun if you can learn how to do basic controls in the simulator. You can fly the Mobula in large indoor areas as well as around houses and open fields. Don't go all in on your first drone, it is most likely to break sooner or later. You can save up and then upgrade to a proper freestyle 5" with O3 and DJI goggles as your second set. You can continue using the Radiomaster Pocket later, or upgrade to a bigger transmitter. Your EV800D will still be useful for smaller analog drones for indoor flights.

I've built a 2S 75mm o4 lite this weak... Would never do this again. It's too much weight concentrated. It flies like a potato with props. Or it falls like one i should better say Would't go digital smaller that 2". So better mob 8 than 7 But the Mobula 8 frame breaks easy. Hglrc Petrel85 is the same sturdy material as mobula 7

For the goggles 2 you can use any O3-compatible drone to establish the video signal. Then the radio link from the controller to the drone will depend on which system you prefer (this is independent from DJI). So you can go ELRS (many drones are O3 ready and ELRS, so you can easily get an ELRS controller like the radio master boxer or pocket and those also work well with simulators). For O3 compatible drones there are a bunch so it depends on what you want. Want something small for cruising? Get a small cine whoop like the Flylens85 or the Pavo20 (which I own); if you want smaller there is the Mobula8/pavo pico/darkstar20. All of those have good reviews so you can’t go wrong with any of them. Want something slightly bigger, the Cinebot25 is popular. Want long range? Flywoo explorer LR4 comes to mind. If you don’t mind going over 250g you will find dozens of other options, and more acro and long range drones.

I have a mobula 8 and i love it. Its small, well priced and the batteries dont cost much. Its also great fun to fly. Its fast, maneuverable and has hella punch. Buy some extra frames for 3.5 euro though.
