Stage 1: Get the radio and 2x 18650 batteries first, then buy Liftoff on STEAM. Stage 2: Watch this video series and get used to flying around in Liftoff until you at least get the feel of how to move a drone around without crashing. The drone should come with a couple of batteries and a little USB charger, which will do for starters. The Eachine 800D is recommended because the screen detaches and becomes a monitor. Stage 4: Your first upgrade will probably either be new propellers or a new frame (if you crashed a lot), or additional batteries (if you didn't crash a lot and want to fly more.) In either case, leave yourself enough room in your budget to repair your drones.

r/fpv • What is needed for a beginner FPV drone? ->Have you tried a sim at all ? Because I wouldn't worry too much about an action cam till you learn to fly decent. Your just gonna get a bunch of shitty mp4's of you crashing, lol. I fly my meteor 65 outside all the time, even in some wind. It does fine
r/fpv • Beginner, thinking I should start with a 2 inch drone or cinewhoop, or at at the very least a quad that can handle a Runcam Thumb Pro or simmilar camera, on a budget. ->Fully concur with u/Ich_bin_schlecht. Go with Avata if you have zero interest in advancing to freestyle flying because it has a well-known yaw washout issue, and it's not a particularly responsive machine. Flight time is around 8 minutes. Picture quality is best in the business. If you plan to grow in the hobby, skip it and start with something more survivable to crashing like a BetaFPV Meteor 65 or HappyModel Mobula7. Be warned there's quite a learning curve with setup, throttle control and then acro mode, as u/Fat_Cat6969 alluded to. Flight times are around 3 minutes. Picture quality is like old VHS tapes.
r/fpv • Is DJI Avata the best FPV drone? ->Its fairly common for people on here to recommend getting a 75mm whoop as its half between a 65 (indoor) and 80 (outdoor) - however, I disagree with that advice. You end up with a whoop thats a bit too much of a handful inside, and not enough power or fun outside once you gain experience. And also, a 65mm whoop can be flown outside, just not if its windy. So if you want to fly indoors, I recommend a 65mm whoop such as the new 2024 Mobula 6. And then, next paycheque you could buy an 85mm whoop aswell. Once you've paid the initial outlay of the radio, goggles, charger e.t.c. it doesn't seem so expensive to buy a 2nd drone :P Also to mention, my first quad was a Meteor 75. It didn't take too long for me to get a meteor 65 pro, and a mobula 8 :D
r/fpv • Beginner ELRS Drone Advice ->I fly air65 indoors. I think I went with Air75 as it’s lighter and not marketed as a beginner drone really. I felt that I’d spent enough time in the sim and wanted something that’s as zippy as possible.
r/TinyWhoop • Avata 2 owner looking for buying advice for controller/drone ->I bought the aquila16 a Month ago I really Liked it at the Beginning because in n-mode practically anyone can fly It. However after taking It Outside i immediatly realize the camera isnt the best when going from Bright to shadows you are blind during the day. So i got a Gofilm20 with Goggles L but i only flew it twice because Its really really cold Outside. Now i want to practicse acro mode more so i Just ordered a tinywhoop Air65 TL;Dr Aquila16 RTF Kit Pros: Easy to fly, very durable, cheap parts, actually good fly time 8mins Totally doable with 1100mAh Cons: is Not the Most agile, camera in Low light conditions, gets tossed by the Wind Outside. Conclusion: Its okay for your Entry to FPV If You dont want to build and have 0 Equipment and dont want to Figure Out what is what. Thats how It was for me I First Had no clue Other than i want to try fpv Then i flew and within a week interest became bigger and Ou start to look up Videos What is this why use that What is the best package rate etc Aquila16 can make you addicted and interested in more I have 3 sims but If you ask me theyre boring compared to real flying So far each of them (lift Off, lift Off Micro drones, DRL) has less than 10 hours in my library
r/fpv • Drone Build ->Aquila16 is not a trash Drone Its not outdoor 5" freestyle Drone for Sure But its very good at giving noobs an easy Entry which, in my opinion is its own reason to exist I have ordered the 2025 Version of the Air 65 They have changed the canopy so that some things dont immediatly come of the FC in a Crash Meteor65 hs Air 65 i havent seen a Big difference except for price
r/fpv • Drone Build ->I know what you mean Its not the best representing Drone for fpv Only upside is i now can use the radiocontroller and goggles and charger for new analog drones Im still waiting for the Air65 to arrive i believe flying It will be a difference So when you Connect Betaflight Do you have this Air Mode for acro enabled? Is it on by Default?
r/fpv • Drone Build ->Ye this, my meteor65 becomes terrible outside at the first signs of the wind.
r/fpv • Beginner ELRS Drone Advice ->Why no tinywhoop? I also fly in Austria with my meteor 65 pro (mostly indoor) and my mobula 8 (only outdoor). It‘s perfect and not even close to 250g.
r/fpv • beginner mid range drone setup ->I mean I am newbie and that's the route I have taken. I am more than happy with my Metor 65 pro zooming around the house. If you go walksnail, or HDzero you will be able to use your analog drone with your new goggles. If you go DJI things are more complicated only one goggles can be made compatible with analog drone the V2, not the Goggle 2, the Goggle V2. But then gain even if you go DJI you can just keep your old analog goggles for when you want to fly analog.
r/fpv • Beginner Questions: Analog vs. Digital & What Drone Size? ->Definitely recommend the air65 for indoor flying. I’m no professional but it was very easy to get flying and I have had so much fun with it.
r/fpv • Stick with the cinewhoop or get another drone ? ->i got the meteor65 pro this week and the amount of fun I've had already paid for it :D however, if you plan on flying outside more often, get a 75mm
r/fpv • Help me choose my first fpv drone please ->BETAFTV Meteor PRO O4 air unit 5.5 minutes flight time runs on 1S 550mah
r/fpv • Which DJI o4 tiny whoop should I consider as a beginner? ->I have a Meteor65 Pro and an Air65. The Meteor is much more durable and has ran into brick walls at max speed without damage. I have cracked one part of a frame and had to replace the antenna and 1 prop but other than that it's almost indestructible. It's also a bit heavier than the air so it manages outdoor flying a bit better with a little bit of wind. I've heard good things about the Meteor75 Pro, so it's a solid choice imo. Better for indoor and outdoor. If mostly indoor, then get a 65mm. Just my 2 cents.

r/TinyWhoop • Best long range and heavy duty 1s whoop for semi beginner in fpv? ->For what it's worth I started with the cetus x and it has been a TANK I've gone way higher than I thought possible and flew indoors on the same battery, all while hitting so many things. After 6 months I heard a little bit of motor noise so I replaced the set and put on the spare props that came with it and sent it. Just got an air65 and it's great too the cetus x was a perfect easy starter
r/fpv • Is it possible to get a decent beginner FPV setup for $300 or less? ->Potato... Hehe. The FPV video quality is decent for the size and the control ability is close to the Avata 2 using the motion controller. I'm sure the the power density is much higher on freestyle ones like the air65. Which tiny woop is your favorite? (Like from the bottom row.) Are all of them analog video?
r/fpv • Looking for the best contraceptive for drones. Mines are keep multiplying ->There are at like 5-10 of these post asking the same here since the start of 2025. Anyway, you buy: - **Controller:** Radio Master Pocket controller + it's 2 batteries (they recharge via usb-c port in controller) - **Drone:** Air65 or Air75. (Air65 if you want to fly mainly indoors, Air75 for both indoor and outdoors and finally Meteor75 Pro if mainly outdoors) - **Goggles:** ev800d. - **Drone batteries:** 3 to 6 "1s BT2.0" batteries. (300mah for 65mm drones, 450mah for 75mm), stick to the brands BetaFPV **Lava** or Tattu) - **Drone batteries charger:** Whoopstor V3.
r/fpv • What is the best beginner FPV drone that is not crazy expensive? ->Honestly, the air frame is much less durable than the meteor65, so I'd recommend those. Especially for a beginner, the weight is less noticeable and fewer repairs needed means more flight time.
r/TinyWhoop • best beginner tinywhoop setup ->2.5 will be pretty small to carry a gopro. And trust me, get a tiny whoop for inside. You'll be back here in a few months talking about how crap the e087 is indoors. They are like 100$ for a mob6 or air65. They will fit in the palm of your hand.
r/fpv • 2.5 inch or 3 inch drone? ->Inside = air65. I love it and i crashed 150 times
r/fpv • Help me choose my first fpv drone please ->If analog whoops cater to you, just get that Air65 (if you'd like to fly mostly indoors, however it's great outside too if there's no wind) and the Boxer. You can get a cheap ev800dm second hand as a low cost entry for dipping your toes into the hobby or you can start with a higher end Fatshark or Skyzone straight from the start if you think you'll get hooked. Chances are you'll be :) I think you can think about going digital later once you get a deeper understanding of different fpv drones styles and builds. Also, get extra props, canopies and sooner or later frames. And after a while you'll need to learn soldering.
r/fpv • I really want to fly drones but I'm overwhelmed with options, and scared to choose DJI ->Just got one last week and love it. I have Mob6 and meteor65 which get about 1:30 of flight time. Get over 3 minutes on Hummingbird even with PH2 connector still installed (those Nectar batteries they sell are great too) I’m curious if anyone’s tried HDZ in one. I have an HDZ AIO on the way and debating on trying it out
r/TinyWhoop • A Noob's review of the newbeedrone hummingbird v3 ->Air65 also has a 400mW VTX. In my experience the range is about 300-400 meters at full power, after that it gets a bit too noisy for me. Keep in mind the max power varies depending on which band you choose to fly one (Raceband 1 has most power and 8 has the lowest power)
r/TinyWhoop • Best long range and heavy duty 1s whoop for semi beginner in fpv? ->[https://www.reddit.com/r/TinyWhoop/comments/1ic0lts/best\_beginner\_tinywhoop\_setup/](https://www.reddit.com/r/TinyWhoop/comments/1ic0lts/best_beginner_tinywhoop_setup/) fpv has a surprisingly high barrier to entry, but if you're willing to put time into learning how to fly, it's incredibly rewarding. **don't use amazon for FPV, use trusted shops:** [https://www.reddit.com/r/fpv/comments/xoh3t2/best\_online\_store\_for\_uk\_hobbyist/](https://www.reddit.com/r/fpv/comments/xoh3t2/best_online_store_for_uk_hobbyist/) an air65 (best 65mm analog tinywhoop right now) is only 76 gbp here: [https://yourfpv.co.uk/product-category/built-quadcopters/built-whoop-collection/](https://yourfpv.co.uk/product-category/built-quadcopters/built-whoop-collection/)
r/fpv • Recomendations for drones for noninvasive filming ->I started on aquila16 about 2 months ago and harvested motors almost immediately, trash drone and batteries are useless. Just get a meteor 75 or 65, not the air unless you know your willing to solder. I started with 0 sim time and only have about 10 hours in, i also dont care if i break my drones flying them so i do break allot. Buildings half the fun for me
r/fpv • Drone Build ->Get a air65 first, then a mob8 or a babyape2 for the days there’s good weather, practice with the air65, then when you feel like you know you won’t crash, upgrade! Bam
r/fpv • Choosing between 5” 3.5” or a whoop ->2s is not necessary for a 65 or 75 build, at all. Just buy an Air65 or 75 w/elrs for $100, get 1s 350mah(for the 65)/550mah(for the 75), Whoopstor v2, Radiomaster pocket elrs, and the most expensive goggle you can afford.
r/fpvracing • Good Drone Build? Budget is $235 ->I’d go with the air65 or meteor65 instead, they have the good battery connectors, and the mobula6 2024 has issues.
r/fpv • Indoor drone beginner ->I’d go with the air65 or meteor65 instead, they have the good battery connectors, and the mobula6 2024 has issues.
r/fpv • Indoor drone beginner ->I got the pavo20 pro and it was hard to handle for my noob self. Got an Air65 and happy
r/fpv • Any suggestions for indoor drones with 03 air unit? ->Yeah I lost control and it hit ceiling and made a mark. Then it hits things like bottles on counter and knocks them over. I was especially worried about hitting Christmas tree ornaments. I got an Air65 and that thing is great
r/fpv • Any suggestions for indoor drones with 03 air unit? ->Absolutely not. Too expensive, too proprietary, too much extra junk. Get a ELRS controller like Radiomaster Boxer or Pocket, get comfortable in a simulator like Uncrashed, then get a tinywhoop like a meteor65 or meteor75 and go from there. Youll also of course need some goggles when you step into the real drone.
r/drones • Is the DJI Avata a good beginner FPV drone? ->A tinywhoop. Meteor 65pro, it can be used inside and he probably will learn how to fly in fpv. For googles, betafpv ones are ok. You can even get a kit of cetus series or emax. Just be sure its 1s, they are pretty inoffensive
r/drones • My (about to be) 7 year old wants a drone. Which should I get? ->While kits like these will get you flying, the gear is practically useless when you want to upgrade anything. I'd recommend getting a proper radio, goggles, and drone separately. \* Radio: Radiomaster Pocket, Zorro, TX12 MK II, Boxer \* Goggles: Eachine EV800D, Skyzone Cobra \* Drone: HappyModel Mobula 6 (preferably not the 2024 version), Mobula 7 1s, or BetaFPV Meteor 65/65 Pro/75
r/fpv • tl;dr Is this a good beginner drone? Are there better options? ->
